You finished wiping up the tables and washing the dishes. Making sure everything was neat and clean, you locked up the little cafe and started heading home. You walked down the street, breathing warm air onto you hands to keep them cool."I wish I'd remembered to bring my gloves with me," you thought. It was a chilly winter evening and already too late to be out alone, but it didn't really matter to you. When you reached the hospital, you went up to your sister's room. She was sleeping in her bed, hugging the hello kitty pillow you had bought her. You smiled. She looked so peaceful and content.Your sister, Hwa Young, was 10 years old. She was the only family you had left, your parents had died in a car crash when you were 12.Five years had passed since then, you were older and more mature. You had gotten over losing you parents whom you loved. Now, your goal was to take care of Hee Young and make sure she's always safe and happy. But Hwa Young had leukemia, and if not given the proper treatment, she could die. You were determined to make sure she lived a long and happy life, so you worked hard, earning money to pay for the medical treatments and hospital bills. Hwa Young woke up slowly, blinking her eyes. "Hi unnie," she mumbled, half-awake. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up and smiled at you. "How are you today?" you asked, sitting down on a chair next to her bed. Hwa Young yawned. "I'm okay, I'm just a little tired." You frowned. Your sister never didn't tell you, but you knew from the doctors that her body and immune system was very weak. You knew she never told you whenever she felt any pain or exhaustion, because she didn't want you to worry."You don't have to visit me all the time you know, you should go home and sleep.""Oh I see, you don't like me coming around," you teased her."No no, it's not that," Hwa Young said quickly. "You know I love you being here. But I'm worried you'll get tired. You can't go to school and you have to work so hard because of me, I don't to keep wasting your life and money," she said, feeling guilty. You brushed her bangs away from her face and sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you, Hwa Young, you're my baby sister. I want to take care of you, not just because it's my responsibilty, but because I love you. I want to see you grow up well and live a long, happy life." Hwa Young pouted. "I'm ten, I'm not a baby!" "To me, you'll always be my little baby sister that I love to annoy." You stuck out your tongue and started tickling her, causing the both of you to start laughing like crazy. After finally calming down and getting told by the nurses to be quiet, you told her quietly, "We'll always face bumps on the road, but as long as we're together, we can face it. Don't you ever worry. As your big sister, I promise I'll always take care of you.""I know you will, unnie. That's why I love you and trust you so much," Hwa Young whispered back. She hugged you and you sung a lullaby to her as she slowly drifted back to sleep.
