Surprise, anyone? (1/1)

A/N: Lameness ahead. BEWARE. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________  Sometimes it’s hard to love me; sometimes it’s hard to love you too.  -.-.-.-.-.-  “We can still talk about it, right? We can still settle everything if we just talked over it, right?” she inquired him as she looked at him with pleading eyes. She doesn’t know if she’s going to feel happy or sad over this matter at this very moment. She didn’t expect it to be this way. She was planning of surprising him but it turned out she's the one to be surprised. Yes, she’s been imagining about it happening to them on their first years as a married couple, but she didn’t know that the actual situation would be more chaotic and nerve-wrecking than what she thought. Especially, now that it was not just her who would suffer.  “I don’t know. Maybe it’s too late for that, Dara.” The man answered as he turned his chair to face the window behind him. He can’t look at her state right now. He can’t let her see through him, that everything is hard for him from the very start. He didn’t know that everything would turn out this way. He’s been dreaming of a happy life to live, but he woke up in a nightmare one day. He just wanted to be where everything was before. But thinking it would save him from hurting himself, he tried to give her happiness instead.  “If...if that’s what you want, then so be it. Can I bring these papers home, Ji? So I can pack my things up too.” She tried her best to mask up her voice and not let her emotions take the best of her. She won’t let him see her hurting. Maybe it was wrong to love him and give him her heart. Maybe she was really just the convenience he was looking for throughout his troubled and unruly life.  “Okay. If it would make you comfortable, then bring them along with you. I’ll just see you later. And please lock the door when you leave.” He faced his table and saw her on the other side. He shook his head and picked up the papers on his table with shaking hands, trying to read and pretending to concentrate on them instead of the girl on his peripheral vision. He saw her stand and noticed she was a bit wobbly, but decided to dismiss it.  “I will.” She stood up from her seat and felt her world twirling around her. She steadied as she felt her heart crumbling to pieces as she heard the finality in his voice. She walked to the door and reach for the knob. She inhaled a lungful of air before turning the knob and let the half of her body out the door. Taking a one last look on his figure, she smiled sadly and sniffled. “Goodbye Ji.” Was the last thing she said before she exited his office and run for the elevator.  He heard the door click shut as he let go of the papers on his hands. He looked at the door as a tear escaped his eye. “Is this really the end?” He asked himself as he buried his head on the palm of his hands and wept.    She’s been half-running half-walking away after she exited the building. Clutching the brown envelop on her right hand, she looked up to notice the clear indigo sky of the sunset. “How can an end be this beautiful?” She asked herself as she willed herself to stop the tears from flowing down. Walking herself beside the curb, she immediately hailed a taxi and head home.   -.-.-.-.-.-
