Chapter 3 (1/1)
Chapter 3 ~~~~Minji's POV~~~~"Help!" I screamed. I flailed and kicked at the water uselessly. I tried to find my way back to the dock."Help!!!!!" I shrieked. I no longer had the energy to keep my head above the water level. I began to sink into the water.I heard laughter from above. "How are you feeling?" someone asked."Honey, are you okay?" asked mom."Am I in the hospital?" I asked."Yes. We are so thankful. This young man saved you," she said."Who?""His name is Nam Woohyun."Hearing that name made me boil up in anger. "He was the one who pushed me into the river in the first place!""Shh!" she hissed.I crossed my arms.My hair was still damp from my fall into the river. How could such a thing happen? I was still thankful that at least someone had saved me. I couldn't see and even if I could, I wouldn't be able to swim. I sat on my bed. I cried for my mom and my dad. I missed them. I touched the center of my chest, but I didn't feel the locket there. Where did it go? I started to panic. Had it fallen off in the river?"Omma!" I said, walking downstairs with my cane."What's wrong honey?" she asked."My locket, its gone. I think it fell into the river.""Now's not the time. I'll buy you a new one," she said."No, but that one was from--""From your mom? What do you expect for us to do? Go down there and find it? You don't have to work like the kids in poverty do. Be grateful for what you have now. Stop whining!" she snapped.I shut my mouth and went back upstairs. Laying in bed, I cried to sleep. Omma, appa, I thought, tears streaming down my face. In the morning, I got dressed and headed to school."Hey." It was Woohyun. Again. "Are you always this sad?" he taunted."Get away from me," I said emotionlessly."Hey...hey....hey---" he kept pestering me."Will you just shut up!" I snapped."Why so cranky?" he teased. "None of your business," I muttered."Something to do with family...?" he questioned. I didn't say anything. "Oh! Your locket! It must be! Your not wearing it." I still said nothing. "I'll help you find it," he offered."Why?""Because, by the looks of it, it must be special to you.""But why would you care.""Because, as I said, I like you," he whispered into my ear. I shivered. No guy has ever cared about me this much... "Get away from me.""Here, come," he said, dragging me somewhere. "Stop it!" I squealed."Wait here," he said, sitting me down on something wooden. I felt around the ground. I was on the dock where the Han River was. I heard a splash and felt some water droplets spray on my face."Here," I heard Woohyun say. He handed me something cold; it was my locket. His hand was also wet and cold."You know, no one has ever cared about me this much...""Am I the first?" he joked and I smiled. "You know, you should smile more often."He put the locket around my neck, and pulled me into a kiss. ~~~~~Author's POV~~~~~*at school*"Hey!" shouted Sungjong, running to Woohyun. "It's 11am. You have 4 hours until the bet is over. Do you have proof of your kiss with the blind girl?""Oh yeah," he said, showing Sungjong the picture he took of him and Minji kissing on the dock."Awesome. Almost the entire school bet on this. It's almost half-half. They think you won't be able to get this target to fall for you, " Sungjong said."Well, they're wrong. Nam Woohyun always wins," he said, fixing the collar on his jacket. He and Sungjong punched knuckles.Little did they know that Minji was listening to their conversation the entire time. She sat on the bench and cried silently. She had been played again. __________________________________________________________________________________ How was it?
