"Who do you think I am? Minhyuk?" "So the new kid is that bad?" Mrs. Heng asked in an amused tone and Hae Lynn turned away from Mrs. Heng as she continued to arrange the books. "Yeah, so it would be better if you changed our seats.""No can do Hae." Hae Lynn pouted and she turned to look at Mrs. Heng. "Why not? You obviously saw that we two would end up killing each other before this year even comes to an end.""Which leads to why I placed you two together." Hae Lynn furrowed her eyebrows and placed the book back into the basket before she looked up to meet Mrs. Heng's eyes. Mrs. Heng pulled her aside until the two of them were leaning against the bookshelf. "You see, Hae Lynn, your mother told me to teach you the values in life that money couldn't buy. If I were to let you run away from all sorts of problems you faced, would you be who you are today?" Hae Lynn gulped and shook her head. "And think about it for a moment. You coming back here to your grandmother and attending this school, isn't so bad now is it?""I guess not." Hae Lynn muttered softly and Mrs. Heng smiled. "That's the spirit. Now get to arranging. I'll be back in a moment." Mrs. Heng said as she ruffled Hae Lynn's hair. "Come back soon! I don't want to be alone." Hae Lynn smiled and Mrs. Heng nodded her head. Mrs. Heng made her way out only to see Kyungsoo making his way out of the school with Joon Myun by his side. "Hey new kid!" Mrs. Heng called out and Kyungsoo halted his tracks as he stopped Joon Myun beside him. "S-Something wrong?" Joon Myun asked and Kyungsoo shook his head. Kyungsoo looked over his shoulder only to meet eyes with Mrs. Heng. "I changed my mind. Get your butt back into the library. Don't leave until all the books are arranged."Kyungsoo faced front and rolled his eyes. He turned around fully and Joon Myun gave him a squeeze on the shoulder, trying to calm him down and hopefully stop him from saying anything that would land his ass into trouble on the first day of school. Joon Myun was the type of person who could see through another person. And he could tell Kyungsoo was a bit temperamental but who could blame him? Mrs. Heng was an expert in ticking anyone off but Joon Myun was one of the person who wasn't affected. "You said I could go home.""Well now I'm telling you to get back in there. Do you have a problem with that?""And what if I do?" Kyungsoo gritted through his teeth and Mrs. Heng simply smirked. "How would you like me to call your... loving mother and tell her that her son is-""Alright alright I'll go!" Kyungsoo raised his voice and sighed at Joon Myun. "Sorry but maybe some other time." Joon Myun apologized and Kyungsoo waved a hand. "I'll just see you tomorrow." Joon Myun said with a pinch of pity and Kyungsoo nodded his head. Kyungsoo brushed past Mrs. Heng as he made his way in the library but he was a bit hesitant. There was a knock on the window beside Hae Lynn as she was arranging the books. She froze but she gulped when she pushed the curtains only to see one of her classmates by the window. She tilted her head as she pretended to not know him but he held up his name tag. She nodded with her lips parted but soon it curved into a smile. Sehun waved a little and she smiled at his gesture. Sehun made hand gestures for her to open the window and she did. "And who might you be?" Hae Lynn asked and Sehun raised an eyebrow as he faked an expression of a person who looked awfully hurt. "I'm so hurt by the fact you don't remember me."Hae Lynn chuckled as she shook her head. Sehun gave up the act the moment he heard Hae Lynn's laugh."What is the most popular guy in school doing here?" Hae Lynn asked softly after her laughter died down."You forgot a word.""Oops. Yeah. The most popular yet silent guy." Hae Lynn added and Sehun smiled. He has always taken a liking in Hae Lynn. Not as a girlfriend or a lover, but more on a sister side. He could see his sister in Hae Lynn so that would show where his protective side comes from. However, his friendship with Hae Lynn isn't public but it was rather hidden from everyone in school. Sehun didn't exactly want all the girls to hoard around Hae Lynn questioning her about Sehun especially when they're really just friends."How are you holding up?" Sehun asked softly and she pulled out with the book title 'Great But Tiring'. Sehun smiled softly at her spontaneousness. He pushed the book away that she held up in front of his face before he said, "Funny, but really?" She pressed her lips together before she slid the book back into the shelf. "Yeah I mean, the new kid... he's all...""Cocky?""Temperamental." Hae Lynn corrected Sehun with a poke on his nose. "You see, this is why you should've sat beside me this morning instead of sitting where you usually sit. Or at least sit with Minhyuk." Hae Lynn scrunched her nose a little. No doubt Sehun was known as a silent, popular and handsome guy but if only they knew how much of a mother he could be, especially to Hae Lynn. "If only people knew that the phenomenal Oh Sehun, is actually a mother." Hae Lynn joked and Sehun shook his head. Even when Hae Lynn is going through hard times, she would never fail to amuse Sehun with all her jokes."Hey, if you need one, I'm available." Hae Lynn chuckled and shook her head and that was enough for Sehun to smile again."I'll see you around. Remember training tomorrow, hmm?" Sehun reminded her and she slammed her forehead with her hand. "Let me guess. You forgot about training again?" Sehun laughed softly and she lifted her chin up to meet Sehun's eyes. "Well...""I'll only cover up for you for one hour. The competition is 2 months away. We can't let that good for nothing Jeonghwa High School win our title." Sehun's competitive side showed and Hae Lynn nodded her head. Hae Lynn and Sehun were a team for last year's relay running team. The team for this year hasn't been decided but she knows that she would be with Sehun because Sehun would be the third runner and she would wrap it all up with her sprints. Sounds of the library door could be heard opening and that was Sehun's cue to leave. "Bye." Sehun smiled and she closed the window after tapping his head a little. "Mrs. Heng! You're ba-!" Hae Lynn's voice trailled off when she made eye contact with Kyungsoo. Her smile fell as Kyungsoo dropped his bag onto the ground. She cleared her throat and pointed at the basket of books in front of him. "Arrange that into the shelves behind me. I'll handle this one." Hae Lynn said hurriedly before she returned to hide her face behind the bookshelf. Kyungsoo glanced around and there were roughly ten baskets left to be emptied to fill up the remaining four shelves behind Hae Lynn. Hae Lynn was halfway done with the shelf in front of her.Kyungsoo obediently took the basket in front of him as he proceeded to the shelf behind Hae Lynn. He has seen an outburst of her today and he doesn't plan to see it anytime soon. Plus it'll be burdensome for him if he were to have a grudge against his partner that may be his for the rest of the year. Although he wouldn't admit it, having Hae Lynn as his partner may be a different experience in highschool as well as spicing up his high school days. Kyungsoo arranged the books behind Hae Lynn as through the shelves he could see her clearly. The moment she looked over her shoulder to look at him, Kyungsoo looked away and pretended as if he wasn't staring. But when she faced front, his head darted back to her direction as he stared at her the whole time he arranged the books. Now that he has the time to finally let her features sink in, he wasn't thinking straight. Being around her felt different as if he entered another dimension and that rarely happens to Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo simply took all the books and placed it on the shelf. He didn't even arrange them as he moved on to a shelf lower where he could get a clearer view of Hae Lynn because she was crouching down.Kyungsoo furrowed his eyebrows when a book blocked his view and he could see a hand holding onto the book. He turned to his right to see whose hand it belonged to and Kyungsoo's eyes widened when Mrs. Heng was the one holding the book. "Now's not the time to play Romeo, Mr. Do Kyungsoo." Kyungsoo scoffed as he stood up. "Who the hel-""Language.""Who do you think I am? Minhyuk?""Most definitely not." Kyungsoo smirked and he rolled his eyes at her. "Of cour-""I mean, I'm sure Minhyuk would do a better job than you in arranging the books." Mrs. Heng shrugged her shoulders and Kyungsoo's eyes darkened. Hae Lynn removed a few books so that she could make eye contact with Kyungsoo. "Um... You didn't arrange the books, just a little heads up." Hae Lynn whispered and he turned his head to look at the rows of books on the shelves that weren't arranged, they were just lined up nicely not according to height. Kyungsoo sighed before he turned away from Mrs. Heng who smirked when Kyungsoo started to arrange all the books according to height."You two may leave once all the books are arranged. Have fun." Mrs. Heng smiled and she made her way out of the library. "Witch." Kyungsoo cursed under his breath and Hae Lynn appeared to help Kyungsoo as that was the last shelf they had to arrange the books at. "Mrs. Heng isn't that bad.""How would you know? You're a teacher's pet." Kyungsoo snapped back at her and she shook her head. She lifted up a book and Kyungsoo read the book title. 'Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover'. Kyungsoo snatched the book from Hae Lynn's hand to slip it in between the books in the bookshelf. "But really, Mrs. Heng isn't as bad as you think. She's really nice and... warm." Kyungsoo narrowed his eyes at her and she stopped arranging the books to meet eyes with Kyungsoo. He was staring at her without him realizing and she blinked at him. She waved a hand in front of his face, causing Kyungsoo to blink and blurt out a soft "What?""Nothing." Hae Lynn shook her head and Kyungsoo cleared his throat. "We're done. I'm leaving." Kyungsoo said as he brushed past Hae Lynn to reach for his bag. He made his way out of the library and Hae Lynn grabbed her bag by the door before she made her way out of the library. When she walked out of the school, she could see Kyungsoo walking the same way she was walking. "Hey Kyungsoo!" She called him out and he turned around only to raise an eyebrow. "What?""Where do you live?""W-What?""I said," Hae Lynn breathed out as she stood in front of him. "Where do you live?""Why do you want to know?""Oh. Because you're using the same way I'm using so I thought that maybe we live nearby?"Kyungsoo gulped and shook his head. "Impossible. Bye." Kyungsoo deadpanned as he turned around to walk away from her. She scrunched her nose a little before she followed him, not because she wanted to but they were using the same way as she kept a distance from him. After a while his figure disappeared because he was walking too fast but that didn't bother Hae Lynn. Hae Lynn opened the door and shouted "Grandma! I'm home!" There wasn't a reply and Hae Lynn sniffed a little to inhale the smell of cookies. "I smell cookies!" Hae Lynn sang as she walked towards the kitchen only to see her grandmother pack cookies into a container. "We have a new neighbour here and I'm going over to welcome them. Would you like to come?""Hmm... I guess it'll be fun.""Did something happen in school today?" Hae Lynn's grandmother asked and Hae Lynn shook her head. "Nah, just some wacko kid sitting beside me for the whole year.""How unfortunate." Hae Lynn's grandmother laughed but Hae Lynn pouted. "He's really a wacko.""Go wash up and we'll leave once you're ready.""Alright." Hae Lynn smiled as she got ready. Hae Lynn was done in 10 minutes and she came down to head out of the house with her grandmother. "Oh, they're just next door?" Hae Lynn asked, surprised that their previous neighbours moved out. "They moved in two days ago." Hae Lynn's grandmother said and Hae Lynn nodded her head with a soft "Ah...""Be nice. And give them time to talk, alright? Don't bombard them with questions.""Yes ma'am!" Hae Lynn grinned and Hae Lynn's grandmother knocked on the door. A woman who was about her forties opened the door. "Hello! We're your new neighbours and we thought that we should come over to welcome you!" Hae Lynn beamed and the woman laughed softly as she held onto Hae Lynn's hand. "That's really nice of you.""I'm Mrs. Kim. And this is my granddaughter, Kim Hae Lynn.""You can call me Lynn." Hae Lynn smiled and the woman nodded her head with a smile on her face. "I'm Mrs. Do. Uhm... I have a son. Let me get him down here." Hae Lynn furrowed her eyebrows when the woman left. Hae Lynn's grandmother took note of the look on Hae Lynn's face. "Is there something wrong?""Did she say she was Mrs. Do?""Yeah, why?""Nothing." Hae Lynn smiled before she faced forward, waiting for Mrs. Do to come back to the front door. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Kyungie-ah! Our new neighbours are here to welcome us!""Fine, fine. I'm coming." A voice spoke up and Hae Lynn gulped. It can't be. "Hello, I'm Kyungsoo." Kyungsoo bowed a little but the moment he stood up straight, both Kyungsoo and Hae Lynn pointed at each other. "You!" The two of them chorused at the same time. "Why are you here?" Again, they've repeated the same words. "Me? I should be asking you that!" It was like talking to a mirror based on how they kept saying the same words at the same time."Do you know each other?" Kyungsoo's mother asked and Kyungsoo turned to look at his mother. "She's the crazy girl I told you about.""He's the wacko I told you about." Hae Lynn told her grandmother, causing both Kyungsoo's mother and Hae Lynn's grandmother to laugh. "What? Wacko?" Kyungsoo asked and Hae Lynn showed her tongue at him. "You called me crazy.""It's because you are! Look at you. Stalking me all the way from school.""Excuse me? I live next door!""That's even worse!"
