Chapter 1 *First Encounte (1/1)

Hello, my name is Sandara Park or Dara. I usually prefer Dara. Anyway, here I am on a plane right now, flying to a small town called Spoons, not Forks, Spoons. Yeah, did you know that right next to it is the town of Sporks? Haha. Just kidding, that would be stupid. As I was saying, I had to move to Spoons because my step brother, Jaejoong, is completely helpless and can’t take care of himself for shit! Don’t get me wrong, I love my step brother but he seriously needs someone to check his brain.                Just a few weeks ago, he nearly set his house on fire because he thought his flame thrower was a water gun. My parents were pissed off as hell; which was the reason why I was heading to Spoons now. They didn’t trust Jaejoong being alone. Yet, even though I was a frickin seventeen year old, they trusted me more…which was a mistake. “Hello, everyone, this is your pilot speaking. We will be landing in Spoons in just a few moments—“                “Ugh…” Everyone groaned, including me.                “Yeah, I know. Please, fasten your seatbelts for landing.”                The small town of Spoons wasn’t considered the most “fun” place on Earth. It was the opposite actually. It was always overcast, dull, boring, and there was nothing but trees and forests. Once the plane touched the ground, the seatbelt sign turned off. I took off my seatbelt and grabbed my luggage from the top compartment.                I got out of the plane and went to go to baggage claim to get my other suitcases since I was going to be living with Jaejoong for a while. As I was walking toward the escalator, I slipped on the newly waxed floor, caught myself, only to be whacked in the head by some guy carrying a snow board. I ended up literally tumbling down the escalator. That wasn’t the end of it. I stood up, trying to regain my balance again but then my shoelace got stuck in between the escalator steps. I tugged my foot to free myself only to lose my balance again and crash into one of those stupid post card stands.                I groaned and rubbed my head. This was why it really wasn’t a good thing to have me and Jaejoong living together. Jaejoong may be completely helpless but I was hopelessly clumsy. I tripped, walked into walls, got hit by parked cars, and tripped uphill on a daily basis. It wasn’t considered a normal day without me tripping or something that made me look like a complete idiot. Jaejoong helped me up and laughed. “Hey, Dara! Are you okay? That was quite the fall you had there!”                “Yeah, I’m cool, Jae. Come on, let’s go get my luggage.”                He nodded and we went to baggage claim. I saw my suitcase and was about to grab it but Jaejoong stopped me with a smile. “It’s okay, Dara. I’ll get it! Don’t worry; I can do it this time.”                “I don’t know, Jae…”                “Please, Dara? I want to try!”                “Fine…fine…”                I crossed my arms and sighed. Jaejoong walked happily to where my suitcase was and attempted to grab it. Unfortunately, the suitcase was too heavy and he couldn’t lift it up. I sighed and went to go help him. I pushed him out of my way and grabbed the suitcase myself. However, I accidentally swung it around and knocked Jaejoong down. “Omo, I’m so sorry!” I dropped my bag and helped him up.                “I-I’m fine. But I wanted to get your luggage…”                 “Next time, Jae…next time…”                “Fine. Let’s go…”                I stopped at the bus stop since I thought we were taking the bus but Jaejoong laughed and tugged me toward the parking lot. “I have a car now, Dara! I can drive you!”                “O-okay…”                I followed him to a new white Honda. It wasn’t anything special, just a normal car. I was surprised the he got a driver’s license considering he couldn’t even ride a bike without training wheels. I loaded my luggage into the trunk and then hopped into the passenger seat. I strapped myself in and waited for him to start the car.                He confidently turned the keys in ignition to start the car. The car came to live with a soft hum. Okay, I was officially impressed...starting a car was an accomplishment for him. He pulled out of the parking stall and carefully drove out of the parking structure. I was so proud of him! “Jae, I didn’t know you could drive! Good job, oppa!” I gave him thumbs up.                “I just learned how to park and go out of parking stalls today…”                “You’re doing great!” He smiled and went onto the main road…from there it was hell.I was screaming at the top of my lungs the whole damn way! I thought I was going to die! Who the hell gave Jaejoong his driver’s license?! A dog could’ve drove better than Jaejoong did. I clutched onto my seat belt tightly as he sped through town. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t for the fact that the cops were on our ass and we were driving on the other side of the road with cars coming in our direction. “Jaejoong, pull the fuck over!” I screamed.“No way! I’m not surrendering to these coppers!”“Holy shit, man! We’re going to die! We’re all going to fucking die!”Jaejoong stepped on the pedal, swerved into the correct side of the road. He crashed into some cars along the way but didn’t really pay any attention to them. Damn, it was like he was playing “Grand Theft Auto”! The cops were still chasing after us. I knew we were in deep shit. I was on the verge of near insanity with Jaejoong’s crazy driving. With a growl, I yanked him into the passenger side and climbed over to the driver’s side.I was a way better driver than Jaejoong was. I stepped on the breaks so that we could settle this with the police. The last thing I needed was Jaejoong to get into more trouble. The cops surrounded us and stomped over to the driver’s side. I rolled down my window. “That was some very dangerous driving there and—“ The cop looked at Jaejoong.“Oh, I see why now. You know, whatever. We’ll just let this go. We understand. Good luck taking care of Jaejoong. He’s a disaster waiting to happen.”          The cop sighed and walked back to his car. I guess everyone knew Jaejoong in this small town. Then again, who wouldn’t? I looked over to Jaejoong and saw him pouting like a little three year old. “Hey, it’s okay. You were doing really well earlier. It’s an accomplishment. You’ll get better in time.” I said reassuringly.“Thanks, Dara. Let’s get home.”I nodded and started to car back up again. I parked in front of Jaejoong’s, simple, two-story house with a tree at the side near the bedroom window. I took my luggage out of the car and carried them all the way up to the guest room…or my room, now. I dropped my luggage down on the wooden floor and sat down on my bed. Everything in this room was pale blue and white. It was my type of room. “Here, omma and appa sent these. It’s your forms for school. They enrolled you into Spoons High.” He tossed a few papers to me.I successfully caught it. I looked through the papers and saw a bunch of forms that needed to be turned into the office. It was my first day in Spoons and I already hated it here. The next morning, I woke up and went downstairs to find Jaejoong in the kitchen. He was frowning while staring at a cereal box. “What’s wrong, Jae?”“How do I make cereal?”“You get a bowl and pour the milk and cereal into it. You can do it.”I smiled encouragingly and grabbed an apple from the refrigerator. An apple was the extent of my breakfast. I grabbed Jaejoong’s car keys since I didn’t really trust him with driving on his own. As I was about to leave Jaejoong called for me. “Yes, Jae?”                “Which one do you pour first? The milk or the cereal?”                “It doesn’t matter. Just make sure you pour it in to the bowl. I’m taking you car, okay? Just stay home and watch television or something. I’ll see you later!”                “Have good day at school!”                “Not likely!” I called back and shut the door.                I got into his Honda and drove to the school. It really wasn’t that hard to find since this was a small town after all and there was only one high school. It sucked that I had to go to school the day after I just arrived and it sucked even more since it was it was junior year and already in the middle of semester.                I parked the car in one of the student stalls and got out. I pulled my hood up so people wouldn’t stare at me. Did it do any good? Nope! Not even a little. As soon as I walked into the halls of the school, I was greeted by a boy with black hair. (That wasn’t a very good description since most Asians had black hair…) “Hey, I’m Wooyoung! You must be Park Sandara—“                “Uh…Dara…just Dara.”                “Right, Dara…anyway, I run the school newspaper and I was wondering if I could put you on the front page.”                “Oh, no…please, you don’t even have to go through the trouble—“                “It’s no probably, babe. You’re front page gold! You’re the new comer and well, it’s been a while since we’ve had new comers. Oh, and also since you’re Jaejoong’s step sister…”                “Right…”                “Well, I’ll see you around, Dara. Welcome to Spoons!” He waved and disappeared into a sea of students in the hall.                I went to the front office to turn in my papers and get my school schedule and whatever shit I needed. A lady at the front desk greeted me with a smile. “Hi, you must be Park Sandara. News spreads fast when you’re living in a small town like this. I wish you luck with your step brother.”                “Oh, thanks…”                “Anyway, here is your class schedule and a school map. Here are all the routes that you should take—“Her voice turned into the type of voice adults had on Charlie Brown.                I wasn’t really paying attention to her as she spoke. I was busy looking at the shiny CD dangling from the ceiling. Yes, that was another thing about me. I LOVED shiny objects. It amused me. “So, do you have any questions, sweetie?” The lady asked.                “Oh, no. I think I’ll be fine. Thank you.”                “Just come back here if you have any questions.”                I gave her a fake smile and walked out of the office. Just as I did, the damn bell rang. It was my first day of school and I was already late! I studied the school map, trying to find my Science class. I think I walked in circles multiple times as I tried to find the room and then I realized that the Science classroom was right next to the office. Yes, is shows just how damn smart I was. With a sigh, I walked into the Science classroom.~*~                The whole entire school was talking about some new girl coming in today. It was amazing how little it took to get a whole student body all worked up. The girl was like a shiny object that attracted students just because it was something new to look at. Their thoughts buzzed in my head and they thought about the girl. Some were already starting to fantasize about her. The poor girl…                My “siblings” and I were sitting on our usual table in the cafeteria, waiting for class to start. Our table was in the farthest corner of the cafeteria where people would take little notice. When we first moved here, it was like hell. Almost every student at the school talked about us and tried to make friends with us. Of course, we usually kept to ourselves since we weren’t of their kind…no matter how much we wanted to be.                Once the bell rang, we went to our classes. I sat down at my lab table and waited as the teacher took role. I was the only one without a lab partner, not that I needed one anyway. I’d already been through high school many times. It was the same and I got straight A’s. About ten minutes into class a girl walked into the classroom.                She must be the new girl. She was very pretty and had soft features. It was understandable now that she had almost every single male in the school fantasizing about her…and might I say, those fantasies were quite explicit. “Sorry I’m late…I’m Dara.” She said softly.                “Oh, hot damn, she’s sexy!”                 “Damn, I’d ‘do’ her any day.”                “I’m totally all for the new girl!”                “Oh, shit! I can’t believe I forgot to study for my math exam. I’m fucking screwed…okay, so 2x times—“At least on male student thought of something else beside Da—“ oh, hey, the new girl is here. She’s hot!” I stand corrected.                The teacher smiled at her warmly and welcomed her into the classroom. “Don’t worry. It’s your first day here. Class, this is Sandara Park. Everyone welcome her.”                The class chorused with a bunch of “hellos”, especially from the male students. The female students weren’t so interested. They were quite hateful toward the girl already. “Well, Sandara—“                “Uh…Dara… you can call me, Dara.”                “Sure…then, Dara, you may take a seat next to Mr. Kwon over there.”                She glanced in my direction. I stared at her as she nodded and proceeded toward the lab table. She walked very slowly, her eyes wandering around the classroom and that’s when I noticed that I couldn’t read her thoughts. Everything was completely silent in her mind. On her way toward the lab table, she tripped on someone’s pencil. Her action blew her scent in my direction.  “Holy shit, what the fuck?!” She smelled so damn good.                My throat ached with thirst. I gripped onto the lab table to prevent myself from grabbing the new girl and sucking the life right out of her. How the hell could such a human smell so mouthwatering?! She picked herself off the ground and pulled the stool next to me. I kept my gaze down at my book, trying to think of anything else but her. “Oh my fucking hell! This is torture!”                 I stared at my textbook, trying to focus on the words I’ve read a hundred times before. Nothing seemed to be working. At the moment, I thought of ten ways to kill her. The one running through my head now was to just grab her and sink my fangs into her tempting neck. I was fast so I would be able to kill the witnesses. I could lock all the doors and then kill the remaining students in the room. Yeah, that could work…I could say that everyone just dropped dead and I was the only remaining survivor because I’m just so fucking awesome!                Ah, but then the bite marks…oh, I could say that there was a rabid bat and it killed everyone but me because I used my super awesome ninja skills and killed it and then disposed of its body after. I glanced at the clock. There was forty minutes of class left and I was in agony here! I hate you stupid clock! MOVE FASTER! This was one of those moments where I wish that I had to force and used some Jedi mind powers and shit. Or if I was a wizard like Harry Potter, I could cast a spell to make time go faster.                The girl next to me shifted uncomfortably in her seat as the teacher was going over some notes about the study of an onion. The girl didn’t take any notes. She just scribbled in her little notebook. I tried to read her mind again but I still heard nothing. Fuck! Did she have a brain?! She must’ve sensed my intense glare because she turned to look at me. She seemed annoyed. Yeah, I felt that way, too.                The minutes went by with me glaring at her while she tried to ignore me by scribbling on her notebook. Why did she have to come here? Why?! What did I do to deserve this kind of punishment?! It was her first day here and I already hated her…well, actually more for her powerful scent than her herself. As soon as the bell rang, I jumped out of my seat. If I sat there for a few more minutes, I would’ve lost it right then and there.                Where did such a human come from? I was sure I looked like some psychotic freak or something but her scent drove me mad. I hated her because I wanted her so damn badly. What did she eat? The other humans here didn’t smell as nearly as good as she did. She won by a landslide. If I knew such a scent existed, hell, I would’ve gone looking for it a long time ago. I should’ve hunted with the “family” over the weekend. It sure would’ve made it a lot easier for me and I wouldn’t have looked as if I had anger management problems. “Hey, hyung.” Seungri greeted me.                “Hey, Seungri. I think I have to leave early today…”                “Why…?”                           “I-I need to hunt. Cover for me, will you?”                “Sure thing, hyung. Did you hear about the new comer?”                “Oh, you mean Park Sandara?”                “Yeah, her…I hear that she’s quite the beauty…”                “She’s in my Science class and yes she is very pretty but her scent is AMAZING! It’s fucking life changing, man!”

Seungri chuckled. “Is that so? I’d like to meet her…”                “No, you wouldn’t. Come on, Seungri. You know that you have very low self-control. You can barely even control your thirst around normal humans…I doubt you’ll be able to handle her scent…”                “Wow, she really must smell good then…I haven’t seen you this worked up in ages! But I understand, I guess. Go take care of your thirst.”                “Thanks, Seungri. I’ll meet you and the others back home.”                He nodded and went to his class. I, on the other hand, ran into the forest to hunt. I needed to get rid of the thirst or stay away for a while. As much as a temptation the girl’s scent was, it would be wrong to drink her blood. She was innocent and had no idea of the affect she had on me. ________________________________________________________So, how do you guys like it?
