The Promise (1/2)

When Dara's friends left her place, she went straight to her room carrying her laptop and the package.

She headed to her dresser and took out a small blue velvet box that has a pink ribbon on it.

Sitting down on the floor near the edge of her bed, she placed everything she was holding on the floor.

She opened the box carefully and took out an elegant ring that has an emerald cut diamond on it.

She used to wear the ring all the time.

But when rumors of Youngbae cheating circulated, she stopped wearing it.

She lost the confidence to wear such ring.

It did caught Youngbae's attention that she no longer wears it, but she made up an excuse saying she's scared that she might lose the ring if she wears it all the time.

She thought he would buy the excuse but they ended up having a minor fit about it.

So she decided to wear it only when she's with him.

And for a month now, she only wore it 4 times.

2 years ago

After Youngbae confessed to Dara his feelings for her.

They started dating officially for the first time.

They went out to watch a movie and had lunch in a fancy restaurant.

They also went to an amusement park to have fun.

After that, they decided to go to a place where they often spend quality and quiet time together.

The beach.

When they were just friends in college, there were times when they felt the pressure of school and other things.

To get away from these, they drove around the city or anywhere they wish to go.

One time, they discovered a beach that not too many people go to.

It was a peaceful place they both love.

It was almost sunset when they arrived at their destination.

As always, the beach was empty of people.

It was just the two of them.

They walked hand in hand feeling the soft and smooth sand under their feet.

The waves splashing on the shore brought music to their ears.

They both laid on the sand side by side to relax.

"Dara-ah?" Youngbae suddenly spoke.

"Yes?" Dara answered with eyes closed.

"Are you happy?"

She slowly opened her eyes. "Huh?"

"Are you happy being with me?" He asked her. "Choosing me over Seunghyun?"

"I'm very happy, Youngbae-ah." She answered.

"Really?"

"I'm really very happy." She said with a chuckle.

Youngbae who still has his eyes closed smiled after hearing her reply.

"Youngbae-ah?" It's her turn to be serious.

"Wae?" He asked.

"Why do you love me?"

Long silence.

He opened his eyes and turned to his side to look at her.

"Forget that I asked." She suddenly said feeling embarrassed of her question.

"I love you because you're you." He simply answered.

"What a disappointing answer." She frown, closing her eyes.

Youngbae turned to his side and stared at her.

She looked so peaceful with her eyes closed.

He was mesmerized by her angelic appearance.

His hand immediately reached to caress her face.

Dara felt the warm touch of his hand on her skin.

She slowly opened her eyes and turned her head to look at him.

He was staring at her while caressing her face.

She's not used to Youngbae doing that to her, but looking at him right now made her heart beat faster than the normal.

She felt a little shy.

She quickly avoided his loving gaze.

"There are no words that can express how much I love you or why I love you Dara." Youngbae said as he gently cup her face, making her look at him.
