The Promise (1/2)

The next day, Baekhyun and Suho had finally met again. Suho explained his dreadful time during detention. It was his first time and he couldn't stop himself from rambling on about it. Baekhyun only chuckled at his best friend's complaints. To make him feel better, he began story-telling about what had happened with Jinni the previous day.

"Well guess who made you and Jinni friends?"

Suho's eyes and mouth enlarged.

"I love you, Baek." He fakely sniffled.

"Did you just say you love yourself?" Jinni had then appeared out of the blue.

Suho froze. He didn't realize Jinni was there.

"He loves himself too much." Baekhyun covered.

"I don't see why he wouldn't." Jinni smiled.

"Suho, can I talk to you for a second?" She pulled him aside for a small conference.

Baekhyun was surprised, but went with her any way.

"I have a favor to ask."

"Favor?"

"Well, as you know," Jinni looked back to make sure they were at a distance from Suho. "Baekhyun's birthday is coming up."

Baekhyun hadn't really acknowledged the fact that his own day of birth was only days ahead. He wasn't the type to really celebrate it, unless Jinni became involved. His parents were always at work, even if they lived in the Solitary Society, so even some years he spent his birthday at home, alone.

He nodded, acting along.

"Would you mind helping me on what gift to get him? I've been really indecisive, but since you're his best friend, you should absolutely know." She gleamed.

All I've wished for these years were to get away from you.

He looked at her pitifully.

"How does after school sound?"

Her smile stretched from ear to ear.

"Sounds good."

The bell had then interrupted any further conversation, so Jinni had dismissed herself quickly from Suho. Suho made his way over to Baekhyun, glancing at Jinni making her leave.

"What was that all about?"

"She wants me to come with her to buy me a present for my birthday." He groaned.

"Hey! It's a great oppurtunity to create an even better bond!" Suho nudged.

"Shopping with a girl. Greaaaaaaaat." He sarcastically cheered.

Suho smacked him in the head.

"You set yourself up for this."

It was finally the end of the school day and it was the time Baekhyun wanted to avoid the most. Sure, he had a great time with Jinni the other day, but it wasn't enough for him to change his absolute impression of her. He still found her a nuisance. And the fact that he had to accompany her on a shopping flee, made it even more dreadful.

"Suho-ssi!" She called.

"I told you she'd be calling for you." Baekhyun gloated.

"That's only because it's for you." Suho poked his chest.

Baekhyun rolled his eyes before waving goodbye. He then took his time towards Jinni.

"Maybe it wont be so bad." He smirked. "It's an advantage that she likes me, and wants to buy me something."

"Let's go!" She grabbed his hand, before literally sprinting away.

Baekhyun was being dragged like a rag doll.

Jinni was only giggling away as she ran nearer and nearer to the shop.

"We're here." She paused.

Baekhyun was panting, as if he did most of the running.

They entered in to find an enormous shop full of the random. It seemed to hold everything. From cute key chains to house supply, all that you imagine in a regular mall or mart, this shop contained.

"So, what do you think he wishes for?"

For you to like Suho faster.

"Hm, I'm not exactly sure." He admitted.

Jinni nodded.

"Then, do you think you can tell me about him?"

Baekhyun was surprised at her words. He expected her to know him inside and out. He  realized how he may have exaggerated his perspective on how much she liked him.
