He lies back in the seat, closing his eyes. As the ocean breeze caresses his cheeks, the wrinkled hand falls limp and the piece of paper is released, dancing towards the waves as he sinks into never-ending sleep. In this winter, he meets a boy long-forgotten, one who had, like him, been counting the tides in life.The two children return with an elderly lady. They find the glass pieces and bring her to them, the shards which had unintentionally cut her great-grandson’s tender feet. She sees words from long ago, a familiar label on a piece of green-coloured glass. As they leave, she recounts an ancient tale.“That glass came from a type of wine they used to sell back in my hometown. Did you know? Your great-grandfather was the schoolmaster then, and there was a little boy who….”
