“Why do I have to go over?”“Because I want you to.”“Won’t people get the wrong idea though?” Baekhyun scoffed on the other line and Chae Lee could imagine him waving off what she said, “Who cares what people thinks? It’s not true so if they choose what they think it is then that’s their problem.”She shook his head, I cannot believe this boy. “Fine.” Baekhyun cheered and Chae Lee's eyebrows furrowed when she heard a soft thud and muffled laughter from the other line. “Baekhyun? Baek? What happened? Did you fall off the bed or something?”“No no. It’s nothing. Nothing happened.” Baekhyun coughed and cleared his throat. “See you in an hour Chae!”Laughing, the brunette put down her phone on the nightstand and stretched her arms over her head. A squeal left her lips when she felt one of her friends poked her side. “What Seo Yeon?”“So Baekhyun huh?” Chae Lee raised an eyebrow and nodded slowly, “What about Baekhyun?”“Are both of you together?” Hye Young asked, appearing behind Chae Lee and making her jump slightly.“Holy crap Hye!”“Sorry, now are you guys together or not?”Her cheeks started heating up and she shook her head, “No, we’re just best friends.” Seo Yeon leaned forward and raised an eyebrow, “Just best friends eh? I’ve never seen Baekhyun close to any girls other than you; I doubt you guys are just best friends.”“We are!” Chae Lee protested, cheeks reddening as she looked down at her lap. “Besides, he likes someone so-““I bet he likes you.” “He didn’t tell you who he likes right? It has to be you!” grabbing a nearby pillow, the brunette lightly hit the two girls. “No way! I…I know who he likes and it’s not me.”The two girls eyes widen simultaneously, “Eh!?” “Yah.” The three girls looked up and were surprised to see their other roommate standing in front of them. “Min Lee-ah, when did you wake up?”She scoffed, “How could I sleep with the three of you being so noisy.”“Sorry.” Min Lee just waved it off and muttered a barely audible ‘whatever’ before making her way to her suitcase.An awkward silence engulfed the room and Chae Lee bit her bottom lip, wondering how to break it until she remembered something. “Ah, I haven’t showered yet. I’ll go now.” She quickly grabbed all her necessities from her suitcase before shuffling towards the bathroom, flipping the lights on. “I won’t take long.” She said before closing the bathroom door behind her.“Eh it’s sad, isn’t it?” Hye Young mumbled after a few moments of silence. “I really thought they were secretly dating or something you know.”“Same here.” Seo Yeon pouted and the two friends sighed simultaneously. Suddenly Seo Yeon’s face lit up, “They still have a chance you know! It’s not like they’re dating anyone now and feelings change. I’m sure they’ll get together!”“Oh my gosh, you’re right!”Min Lee rolled her eyes, zipping up her suitcase before making her way back to her bed and past her squealing roommates while muttering under her breath. “Chae Lee doesn’t deserve Baekhyun and there’s no way he’ll like her. He’s way out of her league.”“Did you say something Min Lee?”“Nothing.” She hummed, picking up the book she was reading from the nightstand. She flipped to the page she was last at and started reading but she felt it was kind of useless since the pair of giggling girls just a few steps away kept distracting her with their not so hush whispers and annoying giggles and really, Min Lee just wants them to shut the hell up.She lets out a silent but frustrated sigh as she tried to block out all sounds and concentrate solely on the words printed on the page. It worked for a couple of minutes and she was starting to forget that there were other people in the room until one of them let out a high-pitched squeal.Min Lee’s head snapped up and she glared at the two girls, “Yah, can you guys just shut up?”“Sorry…” Another sigh left her lips and she just waved it off, “Forget it, I’ll just go see what Jae Mi is up to.” She set her book down and made her way to the door, pausing in her steps when she was standing in front of the bathroom door when the water had just stopped. She looked at the door with a blank look and she scoffed when an image of you and Baekhyun flashed in her mind. “You and Baekhyun? As if.”She lifted her hand and with a flick of her finger, she turned off the bathroom lights before taking the last few steps to the door as if she didn’t do anything. Her eyes widen though when she opened the door to see an equally shock Baekhyun standing behind it, his fist hanging in the air as he was just about to knock on the door.He recovered quickly and smiled, an awkward chuckle slipping past his lips, “I didn’t know you were psychic Min Lee. Are you going out? I’m here to pick up Chae Lee.”“I--““Oh Baekhyun! You’re here for Chae Lee?” Hye Young asked when she saw the male standing at the door. He smiled and nodded before tilting his head slightly to the side, “I was supposed to pick her up in another thirty minutes but my roommates are fighting over which idol is better so I thought being a little early to get away from them would be good.”Seo Yeon raised an eyebrow, “And you didn’t join them?”Baekhyun scoffed and grinned, “SNSD is the best hands down. Kara and Wonder Girls have nothing on them.”Hye Young rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out, “Kara is so better.”“There’s already a mini fan war back in my room, I don’t want another one here. Where’s Chae anyway?”“Oh she’s in the bathroom. She should be done by no--“Thud“What was that?” Seo Yeon asked, her eyes darting towards the bathroom. “It came from the bathroom. Is Chae Lee alright?”Baekhyun slipped past Min Lee, mumbling a quick ‘sorry’ before he started knocking on the bathroom door. “Chae Lee? Chae, it’s Baekhyun, are you alright in there? Yah, Kim Chae-“ his eyes widen when they landed on the row of light switches, a particular one switched off. He knocked on the door again, faster and louder this time as he called his best friend's name over and over. “Chae, Chae answer me!”He hastily turned the doorknob and he was relieved to find it unlock though he would need to talk about that with her later. He flipped the switch and opened the door, eyes darting around the room until he found Chae Lee in a corner, hugging her knees close to her chest and her face hidden in her crossed arms. He quickly made his way towards her and pulled the brunnette into his arms, patting her back as a choked sob escaped her lips.(Baekhyun thanked god that she was fully clothed or that would have been extremely awkward.)“It’s okay Chae, it’s okay. I’m here.” He whispered softly, gently rocking the her back and forth. He looked up and saw two pair of worried eyes and he smiled at the girls reassuringly, “She’s okay, just a little shaken up. She has bad memories of the dark so she’s terrified of it.”Hye Young’s eyes widen and her jaw dropped slightly, “She’s afraid of the dark? But she was totally fine when we slept with the lights off last night.”“I kind of sung her to sleep. It helps.” He chuckled awkwardly, cheeks tinted pink. “She thinks people will make fun of her if she told them. People say being afraid of the dark is a childish fear so she’s afraid that they would make fun of her and call her a baby.”“It happened before?”“More times than I would have liked." he muttered, "Now,” he pushed Chae Lee back until she was in arm’s length and scanned her face in worry. “You alright? Are you feeling better now?” She nodded shakily and a soft smile graced his lips. He turned to the sink and grabbed her toothbrush before walking out of the bathroom to get her phone. Hye Young and Seo Yeon rushed towards Chae Lee and pulled her into a tight hug as they started voicing out their concerns and how she should have told them about her fear; making the corner of Chae Lee's lips twitched up slightly.“Chae Lee will be sleeping in my room tonight, don’t tell the teachers.”The two girls’ eyes widen and they pulled the brunette a little further from the male as Hye Young narrowed her eyes, “What are you planning?”Baekhyun’s cheeks turned pink and he quickly shook his head, “N-Nothing! Gosh, you girls are sick!” Seo Yeon stayed silent before nodding, pushing Chae Lee towards Baekhyun. “Fine, we trust you. Only because it's you. If anything happens to her, you die.”“What? She’s suddenly your baby now?” he scoffed before wrapping his arm around his best friend's shoulders. “Kaja.”“I’m calling early in the morning tomorrow!” Seo Yeon called out when the two of them were out of the door. Baekhyun turned to look over his shoulder, “Aish, nothing’s going to happen to her.” He said before turning to the direction of his room, not missing the guilt stricken face when he turned around.  “Yo Baek, what took you so long?”“Are you okay Chae Lee?”“What did you to her Baekhyun?”“Will all of you shut up?” Baekhyun hissed before looking at Chae Lee, “Go sit down, I’ll get you some water.”She nodded and he brought her to the middle of the room before heading to the small open kitchen. Chae Lee slowly sat down and it wasn’t long until one of his friends sat beside her, “Hey Chae Lee, want to see something hilarious?” before she could answer, a phone was placed on her lap. She looked at it weirdly before picking it up and playing the video on the screen.Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion when all she saw were lights of the screen flickering before she realized it was someone playing with the light switches and that someone was Baekhyun. He even did this weird dance on the spot and the laughter of his friends was booming from the speakers. Chae Lee couldn’t stop herself from laughing when Baekhyun had came back with a glass of water, raising an eyebrow at his friend. “What are you showing her?”His friend leaned back a bit with a grin, “Oh nothing. Just your little performance from before.” Baekhyun blinked before his eyes widen when he realized what it was. He walked towards you the brunette gave her the glass of water. “Than-“As soon as Chae Lee took the glass, Baekhyun attacked his friend who let out a manly yelp before the two started wrestling beside her, making you back away. Chae Lee along with Baekhyun's other roommates stared at the two boys practically rolling around the floor before all of them burst out laughing. She shook her head when the two pulled away, Baekhyung sitting down beside her, “I can’t believe I’m best friends with a dork.”He grinned before pulling Chae Lee into a headlock, messing up her hair and making her squeal as she tried to get him off, “You love this dork so deal with it.”
