CHAPTER TWOMinji stared at Mr.Cho. It didn’t necessarily mean that she was feeling something off about him. It was just more like curiosity finally hit her. Why did he dress and look so careless when he spoke so wisely? Why did he reek of alcohol when he was perfectly sober? Things just didn’t seem to fit together. And to Minji, this was something new. Usually, life would match together like a simple puzzle and thus made it monotonous.“Everyone.” Mr.Cho chided with his happy yet not too happy voice. “I would like you to meet a new transfer student.”The class mumbled amongst themselves, some girls even brought out their makeup set to reapply three more inches thick of makeup. The boys ruffled each other’s hair and made themselves look as tough as possible. Even simple Naeun started fidgeting with her bangs and tucking loose strands behind her ear.Minji looked dumbfounded at the teens around her. It wasn’t really her fault that she was born with photogenic looks, blame the parents. The class shushed as they see the door swing open. A rugged boy sauntered in. His hair a deep burgundy brown, eyes red as roses and what seemed to be ketchup on his shirt. Minji raised a brow at the boy, she was far from intrigued. The girls at the front swooned at the boy, except for Naeun but Minji looked away in disgust.“Kai’s the name.” He said, as he smirked and raised his hand up as a greeting. Over-confidence seeped out of his mouth and you just couldn’t resist the immediate dislike. Mr.Cho bitterly smiled before he turned to give Kai an unusual look of threat. Kai rolled his eyes before forcibly bowing, although it looked a bit too lousy to be classed as a gesture of respect.“Kai.” Minji murmured, his name rolling off her tongue like a drip of venom. Her mouth pursed into a thin straight line and she somehow felt inferior to the boy.Kai craned his head to look at her direction, his eyes bore into her and she stared back with a fearless glower. The two seemed to be having quite a show down until Kai had decided to give her one of his endearing smiles.Fake.Minji scoffed as she looked away, flipping her bangs to add on her message of “I don’t care.”Not knowing the reason why, she had felt him disliking her. He had already looked away but his palms were in tightly fisted and his toes seemed to curl.Since he was not looking at her, Minji took the chance to study the boy even deeper. Two studs, parallel each other from both ears. He had a button nose and his eyes looked like they had red contacts in. His eyebrows were surprisingly neat and his height was enough to feel envious of. Now that she had looked more closely, Minji had seen a bit of her father in the boy.His eyes were the same as her father’s eyes. His lips seemed to be filled with something as two small unnoticeable pokes nudged at either ends of his mouth. They both had the unusual yet attractive features while Minji was born with imperfections. It was either that or cosplay.“Kai, sit th-“ Mr.Cho started to point until Mr.Cosplay had interrupted.“I’ll sit there.” Kai announced nonchalantly as he highly pointed to the boy situated behind Minji. Minji slightly raised her head in interest before she sunk down again and stared at the floor.Kai took light steps to the boy who looked quite frightened of him. Naeun shook her head in disagree-ance while Mr.Cho replied her with a timid shrug of the shoulders.“Move.” Kai growled at the boy. The boy pathetically looked up at Kai before feebly shaking his head and facing forward.“Move, I’m asking you once.” Kai said through gritted teeth. The boy gave no answer and Minji chuckled although her eyes were closed.“You’re asking for it, I swear.” Kai whispered icily. Minji felt a cold shiver run through her, she was sure he said that to her./boom/The class grew quiet as Kai hauled the boy up by his collar and roughly pinned him up against the wall. His chair flew backwards creating a disturbing ring from the ground and the metal legs meeting in a rough collision. No offence, but the boy was not particularly skinny so most would expect at least a release of a heavy breath. Minji continued to stay still yet her eyes were pried open.“K-kai.” The boy rasped as he frantically blinked in fear. Kai gave no answer as his face grew dark and his grip had grown tighter. The boy stirred and gasped for air, attempting to push Kai away although it was useless.“Kai, stop, yeah?” Another boy from the class asked as he stood up and put a hand on Kai’s shoulder. The boy’s light brown hair glittered in the sunlight and Kai scowled at him. The girls had started to take videos and pictures while Naeun moved to a safe distance away.Minji felt uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable indeed. Who wouldn’t when you’ve got a fight becoming tenser by the second happening just a meter away from you? She kept her gaze firmly placed to the front as she gulped nervously.Kai grunted before he let the chubby boy fall. The chubby boy whimpered as he scuttled out of the class, securely gripping onto his neck.  He then turned to the light brown-haired boy. In one swift and blurry movement, Kai pushed him to the other side of the class as he went crashing into the wall. Everyone gasped before they started to retreat from their seats towards Mr.Cho who seemed calm enough. The class of 40 stood trembling as they looked to the back of the class where a possible murder might’ve been occurring.Minji wanted to follow Naeun and the others but her feet somehow managed to stop working. The boy weakly stood up to face Kai, even though Kai’s bare eyes already seemed to overpower him.“Now… I’m… Mad!” Kai yelled as he took a lurching step forward and made a desk and table topple over behind him before it thumped onto the ground in sharp pieces of wood.Kai stepped closer and sent him a punch aimed straight to his nose. Before the boy could even register the dodge, however he noticed it was only a fake, another body shot, this one to his ribs, sent fresh ripples of pain through his torso. He didn’t fall—he made absolutely sure he did not fall—but it was a lot closer than he’d have liked. He groaned in pain as he hunched over and hugged his stomach. The girls at the back shrieked in horror as they yelled at the boys to help. Their eyes told otherwise, it seemed too clear that they were definitely rooting for Kai.Mr.Cho gave an exasperated sigh yet did nothing to stop it. Minji looked at her teacher, almost accusingly. He followed his lips which seemed to be chanting something over and over again.Aside from dyeing of fear at the heated fight just behind her, she squinted to lip-read Mr.Cho. Lip reading was her special ability developed for use whenever her parents had argued in hushed voices and she wanted to hear too.  “Stop Kai, not again…  Stop Kai, not again…” Was what Minji could properly make out. The beard adorning his lips was quite bothersome.“Minji, come here, you’re going to get caught in the fight!” Naeun squealed as the boy was sent flying across the room and crashing on the wall just centimetres away from Minji.Minji shook her head fearfully. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to. There was literally something grabbing hold of her ankle rendering her from any movement to occur.Mr.Cho’s attention was now on Minji. He looked down at her ankle before widening his eyes and looking at Kai with a disappointed glare.Minji trembled as she felt Kai’s hot breath reach her neck. She looked up to see him gazing at her with eyes that were peculiarly gentle.“Looking at you seems to calm me.” He said. Minji blinked awkwardly at the sudden confession. People could change, and in his case, a bit too quickly.Minji gazed down at the boy Kai had spent time to properly beat up. His set of front row teeth were completely knocked off and bruises were completely covering his skin, making it impossible for his natural skin colour to even display.Kai sighed as he followed her gaze.“Cho, call Yixing and ZiTao… again.” He said to Mr.Cho.Mr.Cho nodded in response before he walked out of the class and abandoned the class.“Sweet dreams.” Kai murmured softly as he laid his hand on the crown of Minji’s head.  Just a tiny hint of vain fullness was present and she wondered whether Kai had only messed with her. Minji winced at his surprisingly gentle hands. She blinked one more time before she watched everything grow darker. Slowly falling, she felt the arms of something extremely cold. With a rough thud she manages to see the rest of her class collapse onto the floor before she, also, finds herself in mere blackness.A/N: (18/02/2014)Sorry, I made this kind of long so count it as a double update all right?
