Small Sofa (1/1)
Hope you enjoy this chapter :)
-taengguru- --- Yuri POVFour days had passed since we got into this hospital. Jessica was so cooperative, she ate rather well, rarely complained about all the medicines and treatment she got to take, and she listened to what the doctor said about what to do and to not. I knew she did all of that just because she couldn’t wait to get out of from there as fast as possible. Her health had been slowly becoming better, and our baby had been back to its stable condition. Thank God. At least, there was something good going on here. Not like in my company which was becoming worse than I thought. My boss claimed a cold war to me, and seemingly his threat about I was not getting any salary was serious. I worked in pressure all day and night, the documents that should be done by the other workers were all given to me. Gosh, he really wanted to kill me slowly. While I was working my ass out in that hell, my wife was accompanied by Tiffany, sometimes Sooyoung if he was not busy, or Sunny, I didn’t know exactly but there was always someone who was here. Great people never let Jessica felt lonely. Because I always came back by midnight, she had been asleep, tired of waiting. And I went to work early, but mostly after making sure she had eaten her breakfast. My time with her was very limited, but I was a little bit relieved that she was progressing fast despite lack of my attention. A sudden breeze entered the room, I sneezed loudly, “Achooo!!” Ah, macaroni and cheese! I forgot to close the window. I got up from the couch and close the window in one swift. I turned around only to see my wife shifted, yawning and rubbing her eyes cutely. “Do I wake you up?” I said as I sat on the bed, facing her. “Yeah, I heard someone sneezed.” She giggled. “When did you come?” “An hour ago.” I tucked her hair behind her ear to have a better vision of her slightly sleepy face. “You should get back to sleep.” She shook her head. “No, you are the one who should sleep. I sleep all day already.” “But Tiffany was here with you.” “Yes, she was here. And her works, too.” “Huh?” “She was doing all of her office works here and totally ignoring me. She forbids me to get out of bed or even peel an apple by myself. Crazy.” I laughed at her ranting. Her best friend was indeed overrated sometimes, she said it was for her own good. “How was your day?” She asked. “Same as before, nothing changes.” “Still have a cold treatment?” “Yep.” “Still have piles of paper works?” “What is the “nothing changes” part that you don’t understand?” She sighed. “You should quit.” “What?!” “I don’t want you to work in pressure anymore.” “You know I can’t just let it go. Looking for a job is very difficult, Sica. Moreover…” “Moreover?” “Moreover we need the money to pay all of this.” “We can use our saving, Yuri.” “It’s not going to be enough.” “It’s enough.” “It’s not!” I raised my voice at her unconsciously. She looked at me in shock due to the yelling she got. Her eyebrows knitted as she huffed loudly through her mouth. She threw her gaze away and turned to her side, back facing me. “Are you mad at me?” I whispered. “Sica?” Getting no response, I leaned down to kiss her head before I got up. I went back to the big couch and lay my back after I took a glance at the clock that indicated it had been 00.25 in the morning. I yawned and stretched my body to get into comfortable position. I closed my eyes, remembering that I had to go early the next day. I didn’t know how many minutes had passed, still I couldn’t sleep. There was something bothering me and I just wanted to shrug it off. I shifted left and right, pulling the blanket all over my head to block the light. I felt a hand removed the blanket and shook my arm. I opened my eyes rather quickly when the sudden light hit me and made me squinted a little bit. I saw a blurry vision of Jessica who was standing and bringing along her instillation pole beside me. The sight was actually a little bit creepy, but yeah… It was creepy. “What are you--?” I asked in confusion. “Can I sleep here?” She answered me with her pleading eyes. “He-here? Why, baby? Is there any problem with your bed?” “No. I just want to be with you.” “Let’s just go back to your bed, okay?” I said as I tried to get up, but she held me back. “Yuri, no. Please…” “This couch is too small for us.” She shook her head persistently. What a stubborn. I gave up. “Okay…” I moved aside, just enough for her to lie down. I straightened her infusion cable carefully in order not to get loosened up or pulled out of her hand. We shared one pillow but she (always) preferred my arms, so she put her head on my arm instead. I pulled back the blanket over our body and we both struggled to get a comfortable position. After a while, we got settled in that pitiful sofa. She pressed her body so close to mine, preventing her to fall down. Finally, she found that familiar place in the crook of my neck and buried her face there. Her breath tickled me and sent me goose bumps on my neck area. “I wonder how Tiffany’s reaction when she finds out about this.” I said. “Let her be. I don’t care.” More of her breath hurled when she spoke. I sniffed her hair that had lost its aroma. I could guarantee that she would wash her hair again and again after getting out from here. Oh dear, I remembered that she hadn’t even washed her hair after we had sex last time. Who am I kidding? Actually I didn’t really care how her hair was, for me she looked perfectly fine even if she was bald. “Seobang?” She broke my thought. “Yes?” “Does the doctor say anything?” “What do you mean?” “You know… Going back home?” “They still want to keep you here. They don’t want a beautiful lady like you check out from their place.” She hit my chest playfully. “Serious.” “I’m serious.” “Eeesh...” “I don’t know, Sica. Maybe a couple of days ahead?” “Maybe, huh?” “Maybe.” “Thanks for the information.” I chuckled at her sarcasm. “What about you? Do you feel better already?” “I feel so much better. So, can you tell the doctor to send me home tomorrow?” “They won’t let you.” “Just try.” “I’ll ask Tiffany to do it instead.” “She won’t do that.” “See? Nobody will let you out. Be patient a little bit, okay?” “There’s totally nothing to do here. Too bad I can’t play Taeyeon’s play station.” “So, it’s useless here basically.” “Very.” She exclaimed. “Its owner never takes it back. He comes here only to pick her wife then go home.” “He’s indeed a busy person.” “I can’t agree more” She agreed. Silence engulfed us once more. None of us was intending to sleep soon; even my body screamed for relaxing, I could not let my eyes closed for this woman beside me. “It’s my fault.” “Huh?” I asked out of surprise. “It’s my fault for making you getting into so much trouble.” “What are you talking about?” “We should’ve lived happily in our home, laughing and bickering like other couples do. But now, we are here instead. I know you’re tired with all of this, I do, too. I’m sorry, Yuri…” “There’s nothing to be sorry for. It’s not what we are willing for, Sica. No one is willing for this to happen. Stop with your whining, okay?” I said the last sentence jokingly. “I’m not whining. Don’t you know how miserable I feel? Don’t you know how guilty I feel every day? Do you--” “Sshhh…” I shushed her. “It seems like you’re staying here too long. You start to think weirdly.” “Yuri-ah! I’m serious.” “I’m serious, too. Stop feeling guilty, stop thinking anything that makes you feel bad. It will do no good for you. Your job now is only to recover fast, heal yourself fast, okay?” “There’s no point talking with you.” “Exactly.” “I hate you.” She paused. “Hate you. HATE!” “Fine. I hate you, too. Hate!” I repeated her tone. “Why are you still here then?” “To see someone I hate, of course. Is it wrong?” “Why do you want to see her, if you hate her for instance?” “Because she can’t live without me, simple huh?” “So arrogant.” “Thanks for your compliment.” “That’s not a compliment.” “I take everything as a compliment from you.” She rolled her eyes. “Really, Seobang. We’re talking nonsense again.” “You started it.” She sighed. I felt her grip loosened, so I pulled her shoulder closer to prevent her to fall. She responded by shifting her body towards me and hugged my waist tighter. I moved her instillation closer since her hand was already reached too far from it. “Tomorrow will be boring again, I’ve made sure of that.” “You mean today?” She nodded at my question. “What can I do for you?” “Be here.” “Don’t be silly, I can’t. Ask something else.” “Quit your job.” “Sica…” “But, Seobang…” She pouted. “Anything else? Make sure it is doable.” “Mmmmm…” She hummed. “Okay, this one is something you can do.” “Tell me.” “Bring my work documents and my drawing books here.” “Are you gonna start to work here instead?” “Yes and… no, I’m not going to work. Just sketching some new designs, and finishing some sketches that I left last time.” I scratched my head in confusion. “Sica, is it me or what? But I think what you’re going to do is equivalent with the word work.” “Whatever you want to call it, just bring it here today.” “Okay, but don’t push yourself too much.” “Look who’s talking.” “At least I’m not the one who needs any medical treatment.” “Good, Kwon. Good.” She said sarcastically. “Hey, don’t say that. Your have “Kwon” in your name, too, now.” “Yeah, right. I kinda regret it.” “Come again?!” “I’m just kidding, Seobang.” She said playfully as she pinched my belly. “Why would I regret if I have the name of someone I love?” I unconsciously grinned at her statement. I could feel a rush of hot blood raised up to my face that made me look like a fresh harvested tomato. “Speaking of which, do you know how our little Kwon’s condition?” She asked. “Hm? Doctor said that she’s healthy now.” “She?” “You said you want her to be a girl.” She giggled. “Of course, she is very healthy inside. I don’t want her to get sick anymore.” “That’s the spirit.” “But you know what?” “What?” “I suddenly think I want our baby to be a boy.” “Heh? Why is that?” “Because I want him to be like his father, I want him to protect her girl just like what you do to me when he’s already grown up. He’ll be very sweet, I know for sure.” “Baby girl is very sweet, too.” “I like both. Girl is cute, but now I think boy is cuter if he will look like you.” “So now, we change she into he?” “Just for now. I don’t know, maybe an hour later I will prefer baby girl again.” I giggled. “Great. Just think anything you like. We will know the gender four months later.” “I hope it’s boy. For now.” “Only because you think he will look like me? How if he will look a lot like you?” “Aaaah!” She let out her dolphin squeal and hit my chest. “Why don’t I think about that?! I will be his first and biggest fan girl ever! Can you imagine that? Boy version of me with the same sweet attitude like you? Oh my God!” She said every word excitedly with her dreamy eyes. “But I was a naughty boy when I was little.” “No problem. That’s the challenge.” “Taking a care a kid is a challenge, yes. Our whole lifetime challenge, to be exact.” “I know. And I’m not alone in this.” “I’m always ready to be your secret weapon.” “It’s not a secret. You’re a participant, too.” “Oh yeah, we make our creation together.” “Creation? Hahaha.” She laughed. “Why are you laughing? We worked hard for it.” She nodded and muffled her laugh on my collarbone. “We worked well, then?” She smiled. “Very well, partner.” She replied, “Good job, partner.” She kissed my neck lightly and took my scent through her nose deeply. She brought her injected hand to caress my face and repeatedly pinch my cheek in mischief manner. I looked at her eyes as she looked up to meet my gaze. I smiled teasingly at her dumb look, wiggled my eyebrows to make a funny expression. She laughed a little and tapped my nose to stop what I was doing. “I miss you so much.” I said quietly. “You meet me every day and you still miss me?” “It’s not about how many times we meet, but how we spend it.” She silenced, trying to comprehend what I was saying. “Do you get the point?” I asked, but more of a statement. She pouted and nodded cutely in my chest. “I miss you, too~” She cooed. Oh my. I rubbed her back to make her lean forward more to me, if it was even possible. We pressed our body together, but still I had to keep my eyes on the infusion. So, I placed her injected hand on top of my shoulder and made sure she would not move it too much. “Close your eyes.” She covered my eyes with her other hand. “Close yours, too.” “Okay.” Then I saw her pretending to sleep, complete with a snore. Her slightly opened mouth made her like a drunken man who got knocked out. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. She opened her eyes and complained, “Why?” “You don’t sleep like that.” “Really?” “You did it overboard.” “Then how?” “You always have your leg up like this.” I raised my leg to imitate how a dog is peeing. “What? No! I never do that!” I laughed. “Of course not, I’m just kidding.” “Eeesh! It’s not funny, seriously. And when I—“ I cut her next sentence with a peck on her lips. She was kind of surprised a little bit, but then she gave a frown. “Don’t cut me in the middle of speaking.” “But you like it.” “I don’t.” She sulked. But have you ever met someone who is sulking with blushed cheeks? I didn’t want to tease her further. I patted her butt and hummed her some random songs to lull her. She snuggled closely and rather comfortably to me. I tried to radiate warmth as much as possible from my body, remembering that the air was becoming colder in dawn and the sun was ready to rise in some hours later. “Sooyeon-ah…” “Ne, Seobang?” “I want to tell you something. But, please don’t be angry.” “What is it?” “Promise me you won’t be angry.” “Is it something bad?” “Maybe.” “Tell me.” “...should I?” “If you don’t want to, then no problem.” She smiled. Ah, she knew it already. “But I need to tell you this. I’m sorry if you don’t like it.” “I like everything that comes out from you. Just tell me.” “Really?” She nodded. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before I spoke. “Jessica, I love you… Would you be mine?” She laughed and hit my shoulder as the impact. “I can’t believe you still remember your first confession.” “How can I forget? It’s one of the most memorable memories I have. Although it was very lame….” “Yes.” She said out of the blue. “Yes what?” “It was very lame. Maybe the lamest confession I heard in my life. And… I’m yours already.” “Aaah…” The sensation was almost the same when I said it years ago. The difference was just now we knew the answer and of course less awkward. I could feel our heart beat faster as our body had no space left even for thin air to let through. Her breast pressed my chest and our bellies rubbed each other, it was all because the small sofa. “I should change it a little bit.” “Hm?” “Jessica, I love you. Can you please just sleep now? The dawn is almost starting.” “Sleep with me. And actually, the dawn IS starting.” “Well that’s why, I’m sleeping with you now.” “Oh yeah, right.” We kissed with our eyes closed. Slowly and gently, without any rush and without any worries. We liked how our tongue collided naturally, savoring the taste of both inner mouth. Her breath escaped and I inhaled it, I let out my breath and she took it. We exchanged breath lungs to lungs, mouth to mouth. Never let go of each other. I didn’t know how long we kissed until the tiredness calmed us and claimed us to bring our world above to sleep it off. Good night, world. -- “Don’t forget to bring my drawing book.” Her sudden voice shocked me until I jolted. “Yes! Now sleep Mrs. Kwon!” For my friend, 9soshi Be patient, yo! The story is still on going. Nyehehe :) And for all of you, thank you~ -taengguru-
