Sergeants Morning Scoldi (1/1)
Then was a slightly cold Monday morning for both Yuri and Jessica. They had been in complete silence and no one of them seemed eager to start any conversation. Jessica was busy slicing the sandwich ingredients for breakfast in the kitchen, while Yuri waited for her to finish and read his morning newspaper.“Are you going to go home late again?” Jessica suddenly broke the silence.“I don’t know.” Yuri said as he kept his concentration on reading.“You know I hate waiting for you alone in the middle of the night.” Yuri put down his newspaper and took a glance of his wife.“I’ve been really busy lately” He said.“The boss said I am one of the workers who will be promoted soon enough, so that’s why he got me to do a lot of the works”.“Why don’t you tell me earlier?” She said in a flat tone.“Because I am not that sure I will get that promotion. The competitors are no joke.”Jessica then walked to the dining table to join her husband, and placed a plate full of sandwiches on the table.Yuri took a bite and frowned. “Why?” Jessica asked and grabbed the Yuri’s hand which held the sandwich.Yuri smiled, “Nothing.”“You’re weird.” She said as she let go and got back to her seat.“It’s just the sandwich that you made. The taste does not change in 50 years.”“If only we could live that long.” Jessica said in sarcastic tone.Yuri sipped his coffee and devoured his breakfast in silence. He saw Jessica was spacing out with a blank stare, it was a habit of her that he found cute. He always liked the way her face became unreadable and her mind was in her world. Well, basically he liked everything about her.“Sica?” Yuri called, waking her up from her trance. She yelped. “Yeah?”“It’s just me or what, but I think you get sexier lately” Yuri teased.“Yah!” She blushed at her husband’s statement and slapped his arm with a napkin repeteadly.“Why? Ouch! Can’t I say my wife sexy? Akk! Sica, stop it!” Yuri said between the slaps that he got. She stopped, instead she gave him a glare. And that was enough to chill Yuri up in a already cold morning.“Why are you like this?” Yuri said.“Aish. I think you are more annoying lately.” She said harshly as she got up and took the empty plate to the sink.“Me? Annoying?” He pointed himself.“Yes you, Mr. Kwon. It’s been a week you go home late, even in the weekend you are busy with all your documents. You barely get to spend your time with me. Now, you’re trying to seduce me by saying that I’m sexy?”Yuri stayed silent, he knew that cutting her off in the middle of speaking would only get worse.“Actually I’m not going to be this mad if you, at least, tell me where you’re at. You have no idea how worried I am every night. Moreover when you get home, you just directly throw your ass on the bed without telling me where you were or why you came late.”She sighed heavily when she looked at her husband who just stared at his feet, and not saying anything about this matter. She really looked like she was scolding a teenage boy instead of her life partner.“Do you know what you have to do, Yuri?” She folded her arms.“I have to say sorry, I guess.” He said in low tone. When Jessica called him his name, it was a serious thing.“Then?”“Telling you where I am at, whenever I go home late.”“Yes, then?”“Spending a little time with you”“That’s good. Then?”“Then… What again? Loving you with all my heart?”“Isn’t that what you’re always doing?” She rolled her eyes as she stated the obvious.“And that’s what you’re always doing, too.” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows to her. He even made a heart-shaped with his hand. What a cheesy couple. She couldn’t help but chuckled at her husband’s antics. Only her great Seobang who could melt the iciness of Ice Princess.“Of course, you babo!” She said as she pulled Yuri’s arm to get him up from the chair. “Come on, now. You don’t want to be late for work, do you?”Yuri got up and walked to the living room to wear his shoes. Jessica took his already-prepared business bag on his work table and his jacket from the closet. Done tying his shoes, he saw her bringing all what he needed as usual. Being a devoted wife, Jessica helped Yuri put on his jacket and handed him his bag.“What time are you going to go to work today?” Yuri asked.“Probably, I am not going. You know, everything has been settled in the boutique and I have Tiffany to handle all of it.” Jessica said as she fixed Yuri’s tie knot.“So you’re staying at home?”“Yes, and maybe trying some new recipes. I don’t know why I’m fond of cooking lately”“Wow, is this the effect of not having any proper conversation in a week? Everything we say, we end it with ‘lately’.” Yuri chuckled after realizing what he had said just then.“That’s what happens when you’re not keeping update about me.” Jessica replied.Yuri rolled his eyes at his wife’s comment. “Okay, but make sure you will not blow the kitchen, explode the microwave, burn the house down, or even cut your finger.”“Why are you doubting me so much? I’m not that clumsy and I’m not an arsonist.”“Well, nothing is impossible. Make me the most delicious food when I go home later, will you?”“Do you mean you’re going to be here in dinnertime?” Jessica said with her eyes were full of sparkling hope.“… I’ll try.” Yuri said as he gave her his best smile.“Oops, look at the time. I should better get going.” He said as he looked at his watch. He then walked to the front door with Jessica trailing behind him.“Remember your promise, okay?” Jessica said as she fastened the button of Yuri’s jacket.“Copy that, Sergeant. I have to go now. I love you.” He kissed her cheek then he made his way to go outside.“I love you more. Take care, Seobang.” She held the door open as she watched her husband walked to his car. When he was inside, he opened the window and waved his hand to his wife who smiled and waved back at him. The car drove off. Then she closed the door and planned what to do for that day. Chapter 1, done.
