“Sungmin hyung, please don’t do this,” the smaller of the four pleaded. “You’re more than that.”

Sniffs and sobs reverberated inside the white room as an undesirable feeling of sadness wrapped the people inside. They were once a happy group, friends living in laughter and satisfaction. Despite the minor imperfections of their life, for five years, they remained together and intact. It was a clichéd story of a group who met through the hustle bustle of ordinary life and just like that, one thing led to another. From four different people, to a single circle of friends, and finally, to couples in love.

“I… I can’t do this. This is not what I’ve planned. I… I’m sorry.” Sungmin eyed the man on bed, he haven’t spoken anything and it pained him the more. Life is indeed not a bed of roses because its thorns cascade from its stems. We become too engrossed with the beauty of the flower that we forget these hideous matters and they hurt… a lot.

“Shut the fuck up, Sungmin! Life is not all about sunshines and rainbows you know that! Wake up, this is not a dream anymore!” Jongwoon snapped. He had never seen the guy like this before, and this only increased his fear.

“I… I’m sorry.” He said and finally ran away. It was the last time they saw him, no traces of his whereabouts. Lee Sungmin ran, escaped from the real world, turned his back to the person he loved the most. He was eaten by fear, and it was fear that destroyed him, that destroyed them. He was too scared of what would happen that he couldn’t do anything but escape.

“Min,” Kyuhyun finally spoke, only, Sungmin was not there to listen. “How about your vow, Min? How about your promises?”

He curled his fist into a ball, trying to exceed the grip he had earlier. He took the stress ball and starting pumping his fingers, concentrating his strength onto the orange object.

A door opened and his mind jumped in surprise, though his arms failed him and the ball remained clawed in his fist.

“Kyuhyun,” Jongwoon called him tenderly. “The doctor would see you now.” His friend helped him stand up, slowly and surely. As soon as his weight was transferred to the soles of his feet, Kyuhyun felt like collapsing. It seemed that his own legs couldn’t support his whole body anymore. “Easy.”
