[M] Bye Uncle Kai (1/2)
Lisa sighed. The fridge light was always the brightest one she sees at the end of the day because the rest of the lights in the house were already off. Her eyes scanned the compartments, pretending like she'd pick anything else than the milk carton.
Jennie always sets aside a portion of dinner for her in a tupperware, which she could microwave later. On rare occasions does she only do that though, not wanting to keep up any longer just to eat food she won't need in her sleep. This night, although Jennie attached a cute post it note on her tupperware, she ignored it for something else.
She pulled the milk out like it was her good kind of alcohol. Drinking it straight from the carton has been her habit ever since she realized how much work it took just to wash a glass. When the magnetic doors of the fridge closed itself, Lisa almost jumped at the figure leaning at the wall looking at her.
"Oh fuck, Jennie!" The blonde reflexed. Some milk was spilled, creating a white moustache.
Jennie smiled.
Lisa leaned her back against the counter and rested herself there. The businesswoman had had one of the roughest workdays in her whole schedule yet. But seeing her wife there, silky night gown hugging her body and a smile that said a thousand times I love you, she couldn't help but giggle. "You're a dork, Nini."
The brunette raised a brow and crossed her arms. Lisa looked the impossibly perfect amount of feminine and handsome in her business attire. "Yeah, but you have a crush on me anyways."
Lisa opened her mouth to argue but found nothing wrong in her statement. She wiped the milk off and put the carton down on the marble surface.
When Jennie walked over, the brunette immediately connected their foreheads and held Lisa's arms gently. She was so happy to see her wife home after leaving so early from work.
Everyday, part of her felt bad that Lisa's job was like that. But part of her felt extremely worried about her wife.
What if Lisa gets into an accident? What if Lisa isn't actually working?
What if... Lisa was unsatisfied with the kind of life she invested into the marriage?
Jennie gave it a gentle squeeze. She didn't want Lisa gone. Wanted her to stay with her and work this thing together.
"Hey, you ok?" The blonde looked up like a puppy.
Jennie nodded.
"Come on, I know the face of my wife thinking." Lisa countered. "You look cute when you pout... But I still don't want to see you upset." She put some distance between them and examined her face.
The brunette tried to shake it off and connect their foreheads again. She was that desperate to feel Lisa. "I just miss you." Her lips whispered. "Like, really really miss you."
"Aww..." Lisa cooed, feeling the weight of work loosen on her shoulders. It was like a miracle cure for the back pain she had faced all day. "I miss you too. You know I'm okay with this, right?"
This... She meant the whole work schedule. Leaving at dawn, coming home at night. Barely seeing each other's faces at the dinner table. Mostly communicating through texts and calls now. Felt like a long distance relationship.
But they still sleep in the same bed everynight.
Jennie nodded.
Lisa cupped her cheeks. "And... You're okay with it too... right?"
She's not sure. Part of her wanted Lisa to stay, to step down from her chair and give the position of the company to someone else. She'd still be able to earn as the founder, but Lisa loved her job.
They both also had a thing for earning and they were doing it really well. As young as they are and independent from their parents, they were thousands of miles far from financial security. But they just couldn't find the spirit to stop working.
They had expensive things. As if having all this luxury was important, but they do have a lot of pricey possessions. Lisa and Jennie were both pleased with the material blessings.
But the family had another member in it. Ruby. Does she need these things? The toddler doesn't even know her sheets were silk. But she's learning, learning very quickly.
She had to do something about that. "I'm fine." Jennie said sternly. "I just think Ruby needs more guidance."
Lisa's smile dropped. Her mind was quick to assume. "What? Did something happen?" She looked worried.
Jennie sighed, playing the memory of her and her daughter talking in the car. Never did she think Ruby could say those and it got her really really worried. "Mmm... Remember Taehyun's dad?"
Ofcourse, Lisa thought. She didn't like him nor his breath.
"Yeah... she said some things.."
~
"Mommy mommy mommy mommy!" Vigorous knocking on the door. "Mommy!"
Jennie groaned. Morning came too early with a child knocking on the door. Her body was too buried in the sheets that smelled like Lisa. She didn't want to move. Everything felt so good in bed that she didn't want the toddler coming in and jumping on her tummy again.
"Mamaaaaaa!!!"
The brunette turned so her back was facing the door. Today was a Saturday anyways so she didn't need to bring Ruby to school.
"Mooooooooom!!"
Then again, she still had a schedule for today but it wasn't work related. One week had passed since Ruby's transfer to the new school and Jennie felt like spoiling her by celebrating.
She had invited a few friends oved, including Chaeyoung and some of Lisa's friends. Later, she'd need to go to the grocery and buy a cake.
"Maaaaaaaaa!!"
Oh, but that could wait, right? Couldn't she stay longer in these sheets? They smelled like Lisa for god's sake!
"Hey peanut." Jennie heard another voice outside the room. "Oh? You wanna go in?"
No answer. Ruby probably just answered by nodding.
Lisa chuckled, loving the way her daughter was so cute. "Alright, alright. I'll reach the handle for you."
The brunette immediately opened her eyes from her pretended slumber and sat up straight facing the door. She used the sheets to cover herself and panicked to find the clothes on the floor she took off last night.
The door flew open, releasing a running toddler that sprinted across the room in a matter of seconds. Ruby threw herself into the figure sitting on the bed covered with white sheets, not even looking twice as she was sure of who she was hugging. "Mommy!"
"Ack!" Jennie almost squealed. Did she mention how heavy Ruby was when she landed on her lap? The young mother was unprepared to be treated this way in the morning. "D-Darling... you're up early."
She looked back at the door who had a smiling Lisa look at them.
"Yes because I'm hungry Mommy." Ruby's eyes sparkled with countless stars radiating innocence. She was heavy enough to push the brunette's back against the headboard. "I want pancakes pleeeeeeeeeeease...."
Jennie could feel the grip around her body tighten like a baby sticking to its mother koala. It was a death grip, and Ruby's head was snuggling into her cleavage with just a blanket separating them. "O-Okay I'll cook your pancakes later. Let me just-"
Ruby didn't want to wait. "Now!" Without thinking, she pulled the white sheet off.
Cold air from the AC unit immediately bit the brunette's skin once she was exposed.
Lisa snickered at the scene unfolding, remembering how Jennie got naked in bed in the first place. That was last night when she had arrived a little bit earlier than she usually does, and she caught Jennie just about to put her book down. The next thing they knew that came down were the pants.
And it just went on from there, Lisa giggled.
"Wow, you're naked, Mommy." Ruby innocently gazed at her mother's body. It wasn't her first time seeing Jennie like that, since the mother and child liked to bond by playing in the bathtub together. Jennie would wash and put bubbles in her hair while Ruby sat in front of her, between her legs watching the rubber ducky swim.
The toddler then squealed at the thought of bathing. "Eeeeee! Did you take a bath with Lisa without me?"
The blonde felt her phone vibrate and pulled it out of her pocket. It was from work. She gave Jennie a glance in the room and excused herself to leave.
"Yeah... Yeah, I'm so sorry baby.." Jennie stammered. It was a better explanation than saying sex. "I-I'll cook your pancakes after putting something on, okay?"
Ruby smirked. "Mmmm.... Okay!" The toddler ran out, detaching herself from her mother like an animal.
Sighing, Jennie was left alone in the room, sitting up straight on her bed and covering as much of her body as she can with the blankets. It was really a good thing that Ruby was still a kid when she saw her, she thought.
And giggled to herself until she realized she was still naked. There were clothes all over the floor, some were from Lisa. She wanted to get up herself and find them but she honestly felt like staying in bed a little longer. Can Ruby wait?
"Lisa-yah!!!" The brunette yelled.
In seconds, footsteps up the stairs were heard, and an obedient Lisa Kim wearing a dark blazer entered their room. The blonde was still holding her phone, which Jennie guessed was because of a call that just ended. "Come here."
The younger walked over and leaned forward immediately for a short kiss on the lips. The kind of kiss that wasn't lustful but sincere. Seeing Jennie like that with Ruby awhile ago made her fall in love harder, made her realize what an awesome mom Jennie was. "Yes, love?"
The brunette smiled and buried her hand in some blonde locks. Lisa was too cute for her to not smile at. With a soft voice opposite of what she was supposed to use, she pulled her wife's head closer and leaned into her ear. "Fetch my panties..." ~
Grocery shopping. Well, not exactly since all they were going to shop for were food for the event tonight. Jennie had already made a list of dishes to cook and a list of ingredients to buy. She's sure Ruby would pull her wrist to throw in a few snacks from the kids section as well so she prepared for that. Huffing, she carried her heavy child down and set her on the asphalt of the parking lot. Ruby immediately squealed and ran across to the entrance of the building.
"Ruby Jane!" Jennie called. She sighed at how annoying the child was in movement. What if Ruby gets hit by a car on the way? What if she trips and scratches her knee? And she thought her daughter was smart.
The daughter went straight for the line of pushcarts next to the automatic sliding doors of the building. A few people passed by her and they smiled at the scene of a small girl pulling a big pushcart.
Jennie caught up, fixing her scard around her neck and held her daughter's wrist. "Ruby!" She scolded. "Don't run across a street with cars, okay? That's dangerous. Mama can't always be there to protect you."
Ruby looked up. "What's dangerous?"
There it was again. Those questions that were starting to scare her. So much curiosity was built in the child, and she learned quickly. But sometimes, curiosity killed the cat.
"You might get hurt." Jennie replied, leaning down to fix Ruby's skirt.
Hurt. Ruby understood that and immediately attached the word dangerous with scary. Whenever something was about to hurt you, you should be scared. Afraid of the pain you're about to feel. She did not like that.
Jennie wanted to put her daughter on the toddler seat on the pushcart but gave up after realizing how heavy she was.
The mother and daughter entered the supermarket, Jennie driving the pushcart and Ruby walking along in random steps with glittery shoes.
"Ruby," the brunette called like a trainer. She cocked her head to the direction of an aisle and the toddler immediately followed. Jennie had trained her that way.
For a few minutes, the duo have been shopping. Jennie always had to look up since the items were usually on shelves she couldn't reach, Ruby would ocassionally disappear from so much wandering.
She'd find Jennie in another aisle and run up to her, crying, only to wander off again and repeat the whole pattern.
This time, Jennie was in the dairy section trying to choose cheese. She could see her daughter's reflection on the glass door that she was wandering off again. "Don't go too far, Ruby!"
No reply. The brunette just continued searching on the shelves. After a few minutes, she found what she was looking for. "God, was it so hard to find parmesan?"
She annoyingly put the cheese in her cart and closed the door, revealing a reflection of a woman standing right behind her. Her reflexes told her to turn around, and she swore she almost punched the person in the face for smiling creepily so much.
