Another Look (1/1)
Chapter 2The girls passed by me and in the hurry, the tom-boy bumped her shoulder into mine."Sorry", she said quickly, lowering her head and letting her black, DC cap cover her face."No problem", I answered absent-mindedly as I was trying to get a glimpse of her figure. I watched them getting further away until they got lost in the crowd. I then, turned around to leave when I slipped on something. I looked down and saw a blue portfolio. I picked it up and ruffled through it after reading the unfamiliar name written on the cover. I kept looking over the amazing sketches when I stumbled across one of her.I think that I could have been there for hours just looking at the detail of each drawing but I knew that I had to get going. Throughout the rest of the day it seemed that my thoughts kept going back to those drawings, that I stored in my backpack and even though I tried to focus on my work I just couldn't. Every break I had I would look at them again and every time I would see so much more. I could sense the guys’ eyes on me and I knew they were curious but thankfully they stayed away. Finally after a while I sighed and shook my head as I picked up her self-portrait, "I need to get this back to her. She's probably worried about it." The next day I found myself standing against the wall waiting, I had a scarf pulled around my face and a cap on my head as always when I was out in public.I had already been waiting about an hour and I couldn’t help but wonder how much longer I would have to wait."Yeah, I'm just going around the corner to get something to eat, I'll be back in a minute!" a cheerful voice broke the silence. I looked up to see her walking out of the building. She looked different. Her short, blonde hair was tied up in a bun as some rebellious, shorter strands were falling out messily. A large, red hoodie, covered her down to the middle of her thighs, hiding her every feminine curve and her legs were covered pair of black skinny jeans and red converse shoes.Unlike the day before, her face was perfectly exposed. Her western figure, big eyes, framed by a pair of big black glasses, that looked on her the best I had ever seen, all set on a flawless white skin that was slightly pinker on her cheeks.I watched her as she came closer her smile was bright and I just kept watching her. It was only as she passed me that I remembered what I was doing, "Excuse me!" I called after her as I started following her and it seemed that she was walking faster now. "Hey wait, I need to give you something!" I reached into my backpack hoping to find the portfolio quickly before I lost her but of course it seemed to have hidden itself among my own music folders. "Aish where is it!" I looked up and kept following her. "Please wait!" I called out again seeing her farther away than she had been a minute ago. It was hard enough looking for something but trying to follow someone who kept picking up there pace did not help things at all. At this rate I was going to end up tripping or I was going to lose some essential part of my disguise. I just had to catch her one way or another.I was basically running now, when she stopped and turned around angrily."Look man, I don't know what you want from me or whatever, but I'm warning you. I may be short but I can beat the crap out of you, I swear, so stay away." She said making what tried to be an angry grimace but it just looked kind of cute instead.I stopped just in front of her panting a bit before I shook my head. "I don't want to hurt you or anything. I just want to give you back something that you dropped the other day." I kneeled down and started looking around my back pack, as her curious big eyes followed me, until I found it and pulled it out. "I think you missed this." I said finally looking up at her. "They're incredible by the way.""You stole my portfolio?!" She yelled taking it out of my hand aggressively. "...t-they're not THAT good..." she said after a short while, her cheeks getting pinker. “A-anyways..." she said keeping that cute frown, "you've returned it, thank you. Now please stop following me." She said ruffling through her portfolio and counting her drawings."I didn't steal it, you dropped it and I was only following you because I wanted to give it back to you. Plus you shouldn't travel around here alone you know. Let me at least walk you to where you’re going and then you don't have to worry about me following you." I had no idea why I had just offered to do that. I had shocked myself by doing it too; it was the first time I was being so bold. "And they're all there. I didn't steal any.""Oh!" she said probably remembering the previous day. "I see... thank you then..." she said frowning as she kept counting the sketches. “I'm familiar with this area too." She continued looking up, and into my eyes for a brief second, making my heart skip a couple of beats. "I'm just fine walking around by myself. Anyways, you've returned them to me now so stop following me, please."She smiled nicely, bowed and turned around on her heels walking away.***I sighed rolling my eyes at the papers spread out across the table. "Seriously some of these answers are ridiculous..." I took a sip of the cappuccino on the side before taking a red marker and marking and commenting everything that I found wrong in the paper I was currently reading. "How in the world did these kids pass the prior English classes? Seriously their grammar is horrible." I mumbled to myself shaking my head.A tall, black figure stepped into the light coming from the window, making me look up to see the "mysterious man" I had sat across from on the day of my interview. A week had passed since and I was sure he didn't remember me anymore but his words were still replaying in my head every time I sat foot into this cafe. He glanced down at me before paying for his order and taking his cafe into his large hand. He turned around and looked at all the occupied tables around us, running a hand through his beautiful hair. Everything about him was perfect. I followed his eyes around the room to notice that there were no available tables and the roles had now changed. He sighed somehow angrily and prepared to walk out when I finally got the courage and spoke:"You may sit with me..." I said hurrying to gather all the papers from all over the table. He looked down at me surprised and smiled like he remembered me."I don't want to disturb." his deep voice pierced through my ears."You're not... plus, I kind of owe you so please, be my guest." I said smiling nicely.I smiled as he sat down and took another sip of my coffee. I looked down at what I was wearing and I almost winced because I knew I looked nothing like I did that day a week ago, in fact I looked down right messy. Even though I was wearing slacks and a blouse, my hair was up tucked in a bun and I had large glasses on my face from when I was grading.“Why hadn't I been more careful dressing this morning?” I whined in my mind. I didn't know what else to do other than look back down, some of my hair falling into my face, as I resumed grading. No doubt he had a hard time recognizing me."Are you a teacher?" He asked breaking the awkward silence after placing his coffee on the table."Mm…" I said nodding as I looked up and smiled, "I teach English at the high school just around the corner.""English, interesting." he said in English smiling sheepishly, revealing some adorable dimples that gave his face another attractive feature. My smile widened as I tucked my hair behind my ear, my cheeks getting a shade pinker. "Can you speak English?" I asked him in English, letting my own dimples show freely as my thoughts about my appearance were long gone."A little; only the basics" he said showing an amused smile and then continuing "wow, fantastic baby."It took me a second before my expression caught up with my thoughts. My face shifted and my eyes widened at the shock. I looked at his face again and my mouth opened as I tried to sort through everything. 'It can't be...right? No, you're just going crazy..." I thought before shaking my head at myself. "Sorry for a second I thought...never mind. Anyways if you'd like I can help you with your English.""I'm already learning." he said smiling amused by my previous expression. But I wouldn't mind if we met here more often and you'd help me practice. "By the way, I don't think I've introduced myself, I'm Seunghyun." He said reaching his hand towards me.I reached for his hand and shook it, saying my name and smiling softly. "I'm glad you’re learning," I giggled softly, "for me, though, learning in a classroom never worked because of the teachers so I taught myself Korean." I said trying to maintain the conversation."You wouldn't say;" he answered giving me an impressed look. "You're pretty good." he continued nodding in a "not bad" way. "I'm pleased to meet you," he said whispering my name seductively, sending chills throughout my body.I took a deep breath to keep from blushing and looked down again drinking more coffee to distract myself and fiddling with the papers. "So umm...what’s your reason for wanting to learn English?" I asked once again trying to avoid an end to the conversation."I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you." he said giving me a dead serious look. "I'm just kidding." he said immediately escaping a laugh. "I'm an aspiring actor." he said humbly. "You never know where this path will lead so I'm learning It." he said sincerely."Ah, an actor huh" I rested my head on the palm of my hand. "So who do you aspire to be like, or are you going to try to be someone completely different?" I asked the papers long forgotten, "and do you wish to do movies or dramas?” I paused blushing suddenly “Sorry, I'm probably asking too many questions."My curiosity caused him to let a laugh escape before answering. "Have you ever heard of T.O.P? The rapper, you know?" he asked taking a sip of his now cold coffee. "Ugh, this tastes terrible." he said pushing the cup aside.I felt sort of guilty as he pushed it aside, "I'm sorry; I didn't give you a chance to drink your coffee while it was hot." I bit my lip for a second thinking before continuing, "His name sounds familiar but I just can’t associate it with a face… Is he the guy from Iris?” You asked curiously getting a slight clue but you just couldn’t remember his face. You had watched Iris fugitively but never gave him too much attention. “He's okay and he did a good job in Iris but that’s about all I know about him. I wouldn't put him on my bias list you know..." I left it hanging hoping if that it would be a good enough answer."Why not?" he asked, pretty taken aback by my response, "I mean, he's so cool and he's an amazing actor and rapper!"I thought a bit before I answered. "I do agree he is a great rapper, I heard some of his songs on the radio, and he’s a pretty good actor but there's like this emotional barrier that keeps him from being beyond that. The most emotion that I have ever heard from him is when he sings 'To Act As If Nothings Wrong' and lately even that one is lacking at times...plus he can't really dance." I explained quickly. "I see..." he answered kind of dejected when his phone rang. "Yes JiYong?" he said his face turning professional. "At a cafe nearby." he continued listening to the voice on the other end. "I'll be there in about 5 minutes. See you there." he said hanging up and waving his hand asking for the paycheck.
"Here you go, Mr. Choi." the waitress said placing the paycheck on the table. "Thank you." he answered handing her a bill and a large tip. "I'll pay for the miss too." he continued standing up. "Good bye, it was nice meeting you." He said bowing politely and walking out the door.I watched him leave a little guiltily, "He must really look up to T.O.P..." I sighed and looked at the time and my eyes widened I had to leave and fast or I was going to be late, so I did just that.I had just exited the cafe when I heard a big crowd of girls squealing and waving their hands around like crazy."Oh my God, it's T.O.P!" One of them yelled pointing to a car nearby. I looked towards it curiously, seriously, what were the chances? My eyes widened in shock and my jaw dropped disgracefully... It was him.
