The Unwanted Child (1/1)
“Come on, come on, where are you?”L asked as he rummaged through his draws looking for his old address book. A faded red leather cover enclosed the small and frail book. The ink was barely visible making it difficult for the male to search for the name he desired to see.Finally he stopped flipping the pages, finding the name he needed to see. Finding the name of the person he thought he would never need again. Finding the person who abandoned him in the past. Handwriting that was barely legible, scribbles between numbers, this was the page with the contact details of his father.Slowly dialling the number written in the book, he hoped that the number would be disconnected. But much to his dislike, the ringing sound died out to be replaced to a familiar male voice.“Hello?” The voice asked.Clearing his throat before answering, he responded with a one word response, “Father?”“Who is this?” The voice asked clearly not recognised his own blood. “I have one daughter and she is right here besides me,” the older male said almost as if he spat that out.“Only one daughter? Really?”“Yeah, that’s right. What’s it to you?” The older male was beginning to become hostile.“It’s just I’m your son that you pretend doesn’t exist.”“Myungsoo-ah?” The voice on the other voice instantly changed, from hard and cold to almost gentle and soft.“Yeah it’s me but you know what? It doesn’t matter anymore,” he said almost hanging up.“Wait!” his father shouted, “I’m sorry,”“Sorry for what?”“Sorry for acting that way. I’m sorry,” his father apologized but his apologises meant absolutely nothing to L anymore. This ice-prince wasn’t the way he was because he wanted to be this way, he became this way because certain people pushed him to become this way and his father were one of those people.“Don’t apologize because you know what? I know you don’t mean it. Go and live your life with your only daughter. I won’t interfere with your perfect life anymore,” L said before hanging up.He knew it was a bad idea from the start to call his father but he had to try. To keep ~~~~~~ safe was his biggest goal, his most important mission and he would do anything to ensure that she was safe from any harm especially any harm afflicted by his own mother.“Maybe it’s not safe here anymore with her lurking about. Maybe it’s time to move out of here. But we’ve only just begun here and to change schools now would be nearly impossible.”Deciding to stay somewhere within the region that was further out from the city centre but still close enough to the university, L began house hunting. He had to ensure her safety and if moving from their brand new apartment, then that was what they were to do. Plus, if wasn’t as if he liked their neighbours anyways – keeping them up and in awkward situations with their rated sounds they made on a nightly basis. Oh WHy hello there!
