야, 친구 / Ya, Chingu / Hey, (1/1)
Junhyung stumbled back and Kikwang pulled Nakyung into his arms. Yunho, on the other hand, was eyeing Kikwang. His eyes seemed to get darker, shot. He was attractive, in a cruel, stoic kind of way. Yet his blankly dangerous gaze continued on Kikwang, who watched Junhyung compose himself. The king, the chaebol, was laughing. “Chinjja? Seriously?” His lip was busted and bleeding.Kikwang narrowed his eyes his eyes in defiance. “Not her—”“I’ve already had her,” he snapped. The midget, in comparison to everyone except Nakyung, almost hit Junhyung again, but Nakyung grabbed his arm. Junhyung did not even flinch. “Geu namja.” He directed his gaze to Yunho, who still had not averted his gaze, though Kikwang did not notice. “The least you could have done was tell her from the beginning that you were using her. Real men don’t string women along. Arrogant bastard.”Yunho cocked his head to the side again, stretching his neck, emotionless. “Out of line, considering the fact that you don’t know me, don’t you think?”Kikwang scoffed. “But I know what you’ve done to an innocent girl who trusted you. And you can’t even apologize or admit it.”Yunho was silent again. The midget took Nakyung’s hand and pulled her from the coffeehouse, marching down the street with a fury and ignoring her calls until they were two blocks away. Finally he stopped and turned away. “Geu namja. Couldn’t you have crossed fires with someone it doesn’t hurt to punch, Nakyung. And I warned you. You’re lucky I noticed you in the shop.”She looked at his red knuckles and continued to hold his hand. “Kikwang-ah…” He pulled her into another hug and she wrapped her arms around his slim waist. She could smell his deodorant, a sweet musk scent. His smell was the only thing untouched since he began training. His style and hair were long gone. His skin was softer and clearer and heavily pampered. His teeth were widened. His glasses were gone and his eyebrows were plugged. But his deodorant was forever sweet and comforting. As he held her, she thought about how much of a man he had become. He was no longer boy Kikwang but man Kikwang. She felt muscle where there was once skin and bones and, protected by his biceps, she felt very confused. As she lifted her head, she heard, “Nakyung!” Doojoon was leaving the Japanese restaurant with his bento lunch in hand. He was with Jang Hyunseung, Kim Hyuna, and the young looking boy with big brown eyes that she only saw on the first day. She wiped her eyes and blinked. “Are you okay?” He asked.Kikwang scoffed again. “That stupid friend of yours—Junhyung. He practically teamed up with the guy she was dating so he would…use her.”Doojoon switched glances between the pair and his pleasant expression dropped. “Where is he?” Kikwang nodded back, watching the bento lunch crash on the floor as Doojoon sprinted down the street.Yoseob glanced nervously at Hyunseung. “Junhyungie is getting out of control,” he said, frowning.Hyunseung nodded towards Nakyung. “It’s only because of her. Yang Yo, this is messed up.”Hyuna, on the other hand, frowned as well at took a step towards Kikwang and Nakyung. Her mascara made her eyes look exceptionally bigger. She glanced at Kikwang and how he held his red knuckle. Then she raised her perfectly manicured hand and hit Nakyung clear across the cheek.Whether it was the sting or shock, Nakyung gaped. And Hyuna shoved her hands in her jacket pockets. “I told you not to bring him into this. He doesn’t need another weak girl and now he’s back in the eyes of Junhyung. Do you listen? Are you that selfish? Huh?”Kikwang took Nakyung’s hand and glanced at her red cheek. He glanced at Hyuna as if she was crazy. “She didn’t get caught up with Junhyung and she didn’t bring me into it. Junhyung got himself involved. And I went to fight for Nakyung because she’s my friend.”Her mascara was running now as she began to cry. “Lee Kikwang… You… fought for her?” She looked away. “I was your girlfriend and you didn’t fight for me. You gave up and cried away. But you fought for her? Nakyung-ssi, who strings along guys and sleeps with the first guy to show her attention. Why?”Nakyung was staring. Hyunseung was staring. Yoseob was staring.“Because I love her.” “Yeobose-yo?”“Nakyung, how are you feeling?”“Fine. Dongwoon, Gong Minji, Kikwang, and I are going to a movie later. Why? Do you want to come?”Jihyun sighed on the other end of the line. “No… Are you over the Yunho thing?”Nakyung was lying on her bed staring at the ceiling. It had been a whole two weeks since the Yunho incident. After the first night, she did not cry. She went to class. She stayed out of everyone’s way. And then she locked herself up in her room. In the past two days, she felt physically sick so she had an excuse not to leave. This was not over Yunho. This was over Junhyung and Kikwang’s confession.“Yeah, I’m over it. Why?”“If you’re over it… you wouldn’t mind if I date Yunho, right?”Silence.Kikwang’s head popped into the doorway. She waved.“I mean, he asked me on a date, he told me I was pretty and he was looking for nothing too serious. Maybe you misinterpreted his intentions. It wouldn’t be the first time, seeing how it ended with Junhyung—”Disbelief. Utter disbelief. Nakyung gulped. “No, I don’t mind, Jihyun. Do whatever you want.”She hung up. She got ready and left. Dongwoon held Minji’s hand. They had only started dating recently. They go to the same high school, and though younger, she was cute and sweet. As they left the movie theater, they searched for a ramen shop and Kikwang and Nakyung lagged behind.“It’s good to see you again,” said Kikwang, giving his oaf smiling. She nodded and gave a weak smile. “I haven’t been feeling too good lately.”“Hopefully ramen will make you better. Have you thought about what I said that day to Hyuna at all?”An uneasy laugh escaped as she walked into Dongwoon who froze on the sidewalk. Standing before them was Yunho with Jihyun dangling on his arm. Though Jihyun looked happy, Yunho had the same blank look on his face with a very slight smile. And then his eyes settle directly on Nakyung and then on Kikwang by her side.He stopped, licked his lips, and masked his startled expression with that glazed over gaze again.Jihyun glanced as well, saw her friends, and smiled. “Oh, annyeong!”There was no response.Yunho locked eyes with Nakyung. It was the first time since they met that she felt uncomfortable near him. “Nakyung, I hear you’re sick. Get well soon.” He watched Kikwang put his arm on her shoulder like a hawk. Dramas made everything better. Nakyung sat on her living room couch watching the latest episode of a drama. Doojoon was out with Yoseob so she had the house to herself. She somehow managed to avoid Kikwang’s question as she had been doing for two weeks. She did not go to the ramen shop with Dongwoon and Minji, so Kikwang walked her home despite the protests. She needed a break from men, including Kikwang. It was too soon. After the incident with Yunho and the Kikwang confession, she felt embarrassed all over again. The doorbell rang and she leaped up.Doojoon forgot his key, she thought. Babo. She flung the door open and froze. Yunho stood, stone faced, with a plastic bag in hand. It wasn’t until his eyes met hers that they softened. He gulped and held out the bag. “I… Here’s some soup, so you can get better.” He extended his long, slender hand.Speechless, she took the bag. She stared at him and he tried to avoid her gaze again.“Nakyung… I meant everything I said.”“Then why’d you do it? Why did you use me?”“Junhyung—”“Why did you let him manipulate you, then? You let him say all of it.”He met her eyes. They were no blank; they were frantic. “You don’t know…” He composed himself. Blank stare returned. “Are you happy with that guy?”Was this jealousy? “Kikwang? We… Yunho, seeing you here right now hurts me. I don’t know what I did to deserve this—”He kissed her. It wasn’t in the hungry way. It wasn’t fiery and hot. Instead, it was soft and slow. It was comforting and she didn’t want it to be.When he moved away, she was crying. “I can’t forgive you, Yunho. If you can’t tell me why, I can’t do this. It’s taking so much strength just to stay here and looking at you.” He looked hurt and guilty. But she felt immobilized. This was all too much again.A man in a uniform appeared behind them. He had a small white bag with a black container inside. He stopped in the walkway. “I have a delivery for Yoon Nakyung.”“I didn’t order anything…”The delivery man shrugged and handed it to her anyway. She took the bag and glanced inside. Sushi rolls. With eel, to be specific. There was a small card inside and in scrawling handwriting, a message read:Nakyung-ssi.I’ve been thoughtless and childish. My deepest apologies.--Yong JunhyungYunho watched her stare at the card. “Who’s it from?” She just stared at it. He took it from her, read it, and exhaled in anger. His face became stone again. “Yong Junhyung is a monster.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` I can't believe Kikyung is winning! :DDDDD (Kikwang is my ultimate bias like ever, with Yunho in second place lololol)And I can't believe Dongkyung got nothing XD Are there no swooners? (I actually wrote a fic starring Dongwoon)Well, here's another poll to keep you guys involved.
