Jongdae had to internally fight himself about how selfish he was being and how inconsiderate his thoughts were about Aira giving up on Luhan. No friend would think such a thing other than Jongdae himself. But he had an excuse, he would tell himself. He liked her, and he wanted her for himself. Not in the possessive way but in the way where he could hold her hand when he wanted to, hug her without reason, kiss- “I love it when Jongdae ignores me,” Baekhyun nagged, swiveling in his computer chair to look at Chanyeol. “Don’t you? Like, I find great pleasure in speaking and having no one listen to me.”

“I’m listening to you?” Their big-eared friend said, confusion written on his face.

“Okay, yeah, you are but I was talking to him,” Jongdae’s roommate pointed an accusing finger at him, causing him to give a helpless smile. “Sorry Baek, I was thinking about yesterday’s Film Club meeting.” He lied. “Spare me the lies,” his friend dramatically cried, waving his hand at him. “I know you went to check on Aira. You’re so predictable and lovesick that it hurts to watch from the sidelines.” Jongdae was confused as to where this conversation was leading to. His eyebrow was raised in question, causing Baekhyun to continue with his babbling. “Look, Jongdae, what I’m trying to say here is,” he paused thoughtfully, unsure where to begin. After a moment, he sighed. “Maybe you should stop with trying to get Aira to meet these ridiculous expectations to get a boy’s attention. If I were you, I’d confess.” The last part made Jongdae’s blood run cold and he shook his head. “Yeah, no can do. Do you know what would happen to our friendship?”

“Do you know what will happen you?” Baekhyun pressed on. “You’ll be depressed when they get together. More than you are right now thinking about how much she likes him.” “Baek’s right,” Chanyeol pitched in. “The last thing we want is for you to get hurt.” “I’m not nor will get hurt,” Jongdae huffed, falling back onto his pillow. “Aira told me she’s over him.” “Do you really think she could get over him that easily?”  No. “I believe her.” Jongdae simply replied, rolling onto his side so he didn’t have to face his friends or the truth that they were trying to open his eyes to. “We’re not saying you shouldn’t, Dae.” Chanyeol quietly says. It was an unusual tone for the boy who’s constantly yelling and laughing obnoxiously loud.
