"We got together through (1/2)
Day after day I'm just sitting here. Where else can I go though, without bringing the machine with me? Wires are attached to my arms and to my temples leading towards the machine sitting on the table next to me. The nurse walks in and smiles at me, I simply nod back.
"How are you feeling today?" she asks, waiting patiently for me to answer. I concentrate and relax slightly as I hear calming music start to play. I smile slightly at the nurse and nod again, trying to show that I am feeling fine. She smiles back and walks outside briefly before walking back in with a tray and food. I nod as she bows and leaves the room.
I sigh silently and change the music to classical music, which never fails to calm me down. Just as I begin to eat the door opens again and another bed is wheeled in, another boy is on the bed and he seems to only be a few years younger than me. I nod when he looks at me and continue eating, not really in the mood to be social.
"Hi! My name is Ken! What's your name?" the boy asks, his voice surprisingly soft. I stop eating and look over at him, he's kind of cute I suppose. I swallow the rice I have in my mouth and use my machine to answer his question.
'My name is Leo.' it says in a melodic voice, louder than what mine used to be like. The boy, Ken, stares at me then at the machine and then back at me before smiling and nodding.
"Well, nice to meet you Leo. I hope we can be good friends!" he exclaims before starting to eat his own food. I continue staring for a while before turning back to my plate, I can feel my heart beating faster and my cheeks flush. I take a deep breath in and change the music back to the calming tunes I had before.

It's been a while since then, Ken and I are pretty much best friends now. Every time he smiles I still feel my heart beat faster, Ken is the only one I trust with my life story. He never asks me to do anything I don't want to do and he trusts me as much as I trust him.
"Leo hyung?" Ken's soft voice snaps me out of my thoughts and I turn to him, smiling. "How did you lose your voice?" I look away and out the window again , the dreaded question I hated answering had been asked. I sighed silently and turned back to Ken, he was staring at me, worry evident in his eyes. I closed my eyes and lay back, retelling my story with the machine…
★Flashback★
It was a lovely sunny day, 16 year old Leo was holding hands and walking down the road with his mother when he spotted an ice-cream shop across the road.
"Umma! Can we get some ice-cream?" he asked, doing some aegyo. His mother laughed at his failed attempt and nodded. He grinned and let go of her hand as he skipped towards the crossing, yes, he skipped.
At that exact moment, unknown by either of them, a truck was going way over the speed limit. As they were halfway across the road the truck skidded as it turned the corner and crashed into the traffic light, heavy metal pipes fell off the truck and smashed into Leo and his mother. The pipe hit Leo's throat and sent him flying back 5 metres, he fell into a coma for 3 months. When he woke up he was informed that one of the pipes had smashed his mother's skull and instantly killed her and that the pipe that had smashed into his throat had destroyed his vocal cords permanently. He would never be able to do what he loved the most ever again; sing.
