[M] Oje (1/1)
Unedited. Sorry for the wait. "So, you're saying that an entire multimillion dollar project has been fruitless?" Mr. Jung, a major shareholder in Mr. Oh's company asked. "Ah, I wouldn't say fruitless, men." the CEO waved the concern away. "We just didn't find anything unknown. We returned with knowledge and a better idea on which direction to advance toward - in addition to the valuables we did return with.""Which, as far as I can see is none." said Zico, the hardest person on the board to convince - or deal with. Sehun often wondered if the man realised that Mr. Oh was in fact the owner by name, law, and shareholding. Why he hounded Sehun like he was the boss in the equation, Sehun did not know. "Science was our main goal, not material riches. Did you expect me to find some new technology? Gemstones?" "We expected you to find something." Zico returned. Sehun smiled, patiently."And we did. We found various plants and minerals. All of which are under study, but so far they seem much the same as things we already possess. The color or shape tends to vary slightly, but the makeup of every sample we do is quite comparable to earth." Amber cut in sternly, trying to give a calmer blow than Sehun was about to. She could see the twitching annoyance in his eye. "So what you're telling me is that you've found another earth?" Jung asked, follwed by the whispers of others. "No." Sehun cut down firmly. "The makeup of the planet is similar. Similar elements, similar content. The gravity is denser. Your bones and head ache by the end of each day. There are multiple sun, so we rarely were able to have a sensible night sleep. And, there were animals hostile enough to make life look like a Jurassic park film." A few of the older men chuckled, but Zico's eyes were still cold and calculated. "How did you survive there?" "There was another group of explorers who didn't." Suho finally sighed. The room went silent but Sehun nodded to continue. "We found remnants of another exploration team on the planet. They hadn't survived." Zico looked far too calm for the CEO's peace of mind. "If some animal or intelligent race were to have killed them, did you not encounter it?""There was no intelligent race." Chanyeol shut down a little to firmly. "As our report explains, there were various high-risk predators and various differences in environment. There were pools of open fires, jungles inhabited but manly lethal creatures. That isn't even to take into account the high levels of metals and natural toxins in the soil. To even eat the wrong fruit would easily kill a man on a planet such as this one." Mr. Oh explained, handing a stack of papers to Amber. She began to pass them around as he spoke. "Mr. Do has written our findings and plans for another exhibition to a nearby planet. It is more desolate in terms of animal life as far as we have been able to tell. We are hoping to a more successful search of this area." The other men began to murmur as they glanced through the stack of pages. The report had luckily been done to suggest findings minimal enough to not suggest a feasible return, but not seem like a total loss. It wasn't as if Sehun didn't have the company money to waste, though."I take it that we will discuss where you will go from here next week? Our time is almost up." Another shareholder, inquired. "Ah, of course. This assignment did more than break even, but it wasn't profitable enough to meet my standard. My team will be preparing another trip promptly." he confirmed as he grabbed his jacket and laptop. "I have another meeting at the moment, but if there are any further questions, please leave them with Ms. Liu so they can be addressed next week." Sehun lazily returned a few greetings and chit chat as he attempted to leave. He didn't usually flee from a meeting, but the idea of any of those men finding out about the pack - about their brothers, about his own mate - was making his head rush to the point where he wanted to outright tell them and warn them to keep their distance. It didn't help that Zico and his partners were eyeing the CEO down. The man left anxiously, whispering for Amber to find him in his office once the place quieted down. Thirty minutes later, they sat at opposite sides of his desk, while she read the proposal he had set before her. Contract for EmploymentType: promotionalPeriod: permanentPosition Title: Executive Personal Assistant Mr. Oh could have done without her spitting her water across his desk, but otherwise she was taking the offer well. The actual contract did not contain the majority of duty. To be safe it simply stated the usual obligation of an assistant and to be adjusted according to the employer's discretion. Amber appeared quite suprised. "It doesn't sound like a promotion." she laughed. "Look at your annual raise." he bid.She nearly choked again. "This is an absurd pay rate for an assistant.'' She noted. "Mm, it is." he sighed, pouring them both a drink. "But you aren't really just an assistant. You can still work a slightly smaller bracket of your time here. The rest will be spent as a personal assistant to myself and Luhan." he asked warily and she reacted with just as much wariness. "That sounds like a headache.'' She laughed.Sehun leaned forward, losing the stoic attitude for a moment of genuineness. "It will be, but I can't trust many people with this. If the salary is not to your liking then we can negotiate. You won't be our help, if that's a concern." he assured. "I don't know... It isn't that I wouldn't be willing...''"I trust you to be able to keep him calm, he likes you very much. I trust you and you are practically family after so long. There isn't anyone else I will be comfortable with his safety. I won't ask much. Keep your ears open. If i can't be there to tend to him then you should be - but he is not your master, i expect him to be mature about your help." "The work isn't what I worry abouy. Zico had his eyes on you the entire meeting. People are asking a lot of questions. What if I slip up and blow it all?" she suggested. "I'm clumbsy. I have a knack for making messes."Sehun laughed, standing and walking to the door. "Have you met my mate?" he quipped teasingly. "Pack your office. We'll relocate you to a larger one nearby, should Luhan ever need to be here - which I intend to avoid, by the way." "Of course." she rolled her eyes. "Should I be meeting Luhan again soon then. How will this work?" Please Subscribe to read the full chapter
