The Phone Call (1/1)
“Byunghee.. Byunghee!”. Byunghee was biting his nails, deep in thought. Seungho stood right in front of Byunghee, he had an annoyed expression. “Byunghee!!” Seungho shouted irritated. Byunghee had a lot on his mind, tomorrow he would wake up from the coma and he had lines, actual lines! He was terrified, he knew nothing about acting. Seungho's face got redder and redder, his eyes shooting rays at Byunghee. “You are thinking about your drama, aren't you?” Seungho was mad as hell. “I told you it couldn't interfere with MBLAQ activities, didn't I? We are leaving in 5 minutes for Music Bank, you've got to get your head in the game!” he stormed out. Byunghee tried to snap out of it, but the knot in his stomach was growing. He stared at his phone, he had selected Taecyeon's number, all that remained was to push the call button. He hesitated. He knew Taecyeon was probably even busier than he was and didn't want to bother him and take up his time, but he was getting desperate. Byunghee's finger suddenly acted on it's own accord and pressed 'call' without him actually having decided to do it, he panicked, what should he say? “Yo! Here we are once again! JYP! 2PM! Stronger than ever!” Taecyeon's phone lit up on the living room table. Taecyeon was in the other room playing computer games with Chansung and had no idea his phone was ringing. Wooyoung, who had given up on trying to steal their attention from the computer screen had gone into the kitchen to get something to drink. He passed the living room as the phone started ringing. Taecyeon had recently personalized his ringtones, each member got a different song as well as JYP and their manager. The rest all had the same song, the most recent 2PM song, or so Wooyoung had thought. Who was this mystery caller that got his own ringtone, and not only that but Don't Stop Can't Stop no less, Taecyeon's favorite 2PM song. Wooyoung felt cheated, he hadn't gotten Don't Stop Can't Stop, and he knew for a fact nobody else in 2PM had gotten it. Who was this outsider that got such a special treatment? It was unfair Wooyoung thought. He wanted to pick up the phone to see who it was. He looked around to make sure nobody was around and reached for the phone. 'Bunny' was the caller id, Bunny!? That told him nothing. Why had Taecyoen given this person a cutsie id and his favorite 2PM song as a ringtone, Wooyoung didn't like where this was headed at all. Did Taecyeon have a new girlfriend he hadn't told them about? He contemplated whether he should answer and see if he recognized the voice, but as he was about to push the answer button he heard a commotion outside and quickly returned the phone to it's former position. No answer. Byunghee's heart sank. He was out of time, the van was leaving for Music Bank. He put his phone reluctantly back in his pocket and headed outside. Seungho was snappy with him the whole way there, he didn't like the members to be distracted before a performance. He wanted them to give it their all, to put MBLAQ in first place and succeed together. Byunghee wanted that too, but the knot in his stomach kept bothering him. He wanted to try calling Taecyeon again, but he knew that if Seungho caught him in the act, there would be consequences. Mir clearly sensed that something was up and had put a pen up each of his nostrils and was now pretending to be a walrus, making weird sounds and being silly. It was too silly to keep a straight face and Byunghee snorted with laughter. Even Seungho couldn't contain his laughter despite his bad mood. Wooyoung ran out of the living room and started wrestling with Taecyeon and Chansung, that had finished the computer game they were playing. Wooyoung quickly ended up pinned to the floor and started complaining. Instead of releasing him, they started hugging him and babying him instead. Wooyoung pretended to be pissed about it, but actually loved it to pieces and for a moment forgot all about the phone call that had been bothering him. It was only minutes until they had to go on stage, Byunghee checked his phone for the millionth time. He had hoped to get a response when Taecyeon saw the missed call, but no such luck. When Seungho walked by he quickly hid his phone in his pocket and tried his best to look engaged and ready. They were up, they ran on stage and the cheers and chanting from the fans filled the room, making him forget his troubles momentarily. Taecyeon checked his phone, '1 missed call'. Hmm, who had been calling him? He checked the phone log, 'Bunny' was the id that appeared at the top of the screen. Taecyeon's heart skipped a beat, he actually called him. He had been hoping for this to happen ever since they exchanged phone numbers and when it finally did he missed it. He wanted to call him back right away but decided it was better to send a text message in case they had a schedule, he didn't want to get Byunghee in trouble if he had his phone on him. He started a new message “Hey, Byunghee, I was wondering when you were going to call...”, no that sounded too desperate, like he had been waiting for his call, which he had, but he didn't want Byunghee to know that. He deleted the text and started again “Hey, so sorry I missed your call, I was playing computer games with Chan and totally lost track of time..”, no, too detailed. He started once more “Yo! Yo! Yo! Taec in da house...”, no, too weird. Taecyeon sighed and hit delete again. He wanted to come across as cool and relaxed so he decided just to keep it simple, “Hey, what's up?” he wrote and hit send before he could change his mind. The MBLAQ boys finished their performance and returned to the waiting room drenched in sweat. Byunghee dried his face with a towel and fished his phone out of his pocket, '1 new message' flashed on the screen. His heart jumped, could it be? He selected it and up popped the inbox with Taecyeon written in bold letters. He read the message and felt like a great weight had be lifted from his shoulders. He snuck out into the hall and found a quiet place where it was unlikely he would be bothered. He called. Holding his breath he listened to the phone ring, one, two, three rings, maybe he was busy. Four rings. “Hello?” Taecyeon's friendly voice echoed in his ears. Byunghee panicked, he hadn't decided what he was going to say. “Ehm, hey, it's Byunghee” he said, his voice shaking a bit. “Oh hey, what's up?” Taecyeon said casually. “Well... you know the scene tomorrow..” Byunghee started. Taecyeon interrupted him “Oh right, you're waking up tomorrow, that's going to be cool. You doing okay with your lines, need some help?”. Byunghee exhaled with relief, he hadn't known how to put it, but that was exactly what he wanted to ask him. “I'm kind of not sure how to approach it, you are such an experienced actor, I was wondering if you had time to go over it with me.” Byunghee replied. “It's no big deal though, if you don't have time that's totally fine!” he added. “Sure, of course I can help you, I have some time now if you are free, we could meet at the coffee shop near my house, I'll text you the address. Let's say in a half an hour or so?” Taecyeon said. “Yeah.. ok, cool, great! I'll see you there.” Byunghee hung up and hurried back to get his stuff, if he was going to make it in a half an hour he had to leave right away. Taecyeon finished the text message and pushed send. Just then he noticed Wooyoung standing behind him, he had a peculiar look on his face. “Who was it?” Wooyoung asked dryly. “No one special. Anyway, I've got to pop out for a bit” Taecyeon said trying to sound casual which failed completely, he was too worked up to be able to contain his excitement. Wooyoung got suspicious, but Taecyeon slipped out of the room before he could ask him more questions. That confirms it, Wooyoung thought to himself sulkily, he does have a girlfriend.
