Caught. (1/1)

Kris stood by the door. His horrified expression didn't falter. He was glaring at Tao.Tao looked at him scared. He didn't know what to say. He had no excuse. Tao stayed silent, his hand gripping the diary still. It was getting late, he had to take a shower still and eat breakfast. He panicked. Kris still hadn't said anything. He was still intensely staring Tao down. Tao's heart stopped when he saw Kris slowing walking towards him. He stopped right before him. Tao was too scared to blush when he saw Kris shirtless in front of him. His hair was still wet and was dripping down his chest. He reached down and gently took the diary out of Tao's hands. He flipped through the pages to find the few that has obviously been read. He sighed loudly. He bent down to match Tao's height sitting on the bed. Tao was looking downwards to avoid eye contact. Kris bent lower, looked up and brought his hand up to tilt Tao's face towards him. He brought his face a millimetre apart from Tao's. Tao could feel his breath as he spoke slowly. It was mint scented. "So you know now. Everything about me. All my weaknesses." Kris' voice trembled but his eyes still stared straight into Tao's.  Tao was unsure how to respond. He didn't want to call them weaknesses. He also still didn't know how Kris felt about him reading his diary. He could only divert his eyes in a different direction. Kris murmured something to himself before standing up and released his touch from Tao. He started walking towards the door to leave. "Wait!... Where are you going?" Tao asked frantically. Kris didn't even spare Tao a look. He spoke slowly and boldly. "I'm not going anywhere." Tao exhaled a sigh of relief but not before his heart was shattered into a million pieces. "You are.""Wha... What?!" Tao hoped Kris didn't mean what he thought he meant. Kris turned around and stared seriously at Tao. His eyes had lost their liveliness and his speech was monotone. He thrashed his diary in the trash bin. "From this day forward..." Kris trailed, causing Tao to bite his lip in anxiety, "don't bother to associate yourself with me anymore." He grabbed a sweater and left the room. Tao's face paled as he quickly got changed and didn't bother to take a shower before gathering his belongings and walking into the kitchen. As he walked in, Kris' and his eyes' met for a fraction of a second before Kris looked away. "Ah... Ms. Wu, something came up at home and I forgot something there so I have to leave right now..." "Ah its okay Tao. Would you like me to pack your breakfast for you to go then?" Ms. Wu kindly asked him. "Uh... Sure that'd be nice," he responded. Ms. Wu quickly boxed up his breakfast for him and bid him farewell. "Thank you," Tao thanked gratefully, before heading out. He also whispered, "Make sure to finish your breakfast Kris...", which he said to himself but Kris managed to hear the soft whisper. Tao left and ran to his own house. Kris' mom came back into the kitchen and sat next to her son and began eating. She usually was gone to work by the time Kris woke up at. "We don't get many moments like this do we... Kris?" His mom said joyfully while looking at her son, then noticing his almost full plate. "Is something the matter? Not hungry...?" Kris lowered his head and tried to find the mentality to force himself to clench his fork. He stabbed his food and lifted it up to his mouth to ingest. He battled swallowing it down and was trying so hard not to purge it all up. He flashed his quick fake smile at his mom and replied, "No mum, it's delicious." Ms. Wu beamed at her son. She got up and washed her empty plate. "I need to go to work now Kris. I'll see you after midnight today... The boss has me working on an important project." His mom hugged him goodbye and left to drive to work. "My Kris... You should eat some more, you're getting awfully skinny," she commented. Kris stared in silence at his food for a while after his mom left. He stared at his food in disgust. How could one person possible eat this much food? He decided to throw the rest of the food into the garbage and take it out before his mother would find out he had thrown away his food. He walked back up the stairs to his room and put on his clothes for a school. He looked at his trash bin and ignored the presence of his diary in there. Tao had read through it. Tao knew about him now. He knew how disgusting and what a weak person he was. Tao would probably tell the other members on the basketball team. He couldn’t possibly go to practice today. He started to feel dizzy and his vision blurred for a second. He held onto the edge of his bed to keep himself up.He sighed as he walked over to his bathroom and kicked out the scale. He stepped on it. 112. He stepped off. His bones creaked as he slid the scale under the shelf again. He started at his reflection in the mirror. He looked at his bony structure. He looked at his pale face with such grey tint. He saw the imperfect skin decorated with cuts, old and new. Even his jet black hair was starting to turn a dark gray. He didn’t see a skinny figure. He saw his ugly fat reflection staring back at him. Why are you so fat? You’re disgusting. Kris gave into the voice in his mind. Throw it all up. Empty everything before it turns into fat and makes you even uglier. You want to be handsome right? You must lose weight in order to do that. Now puke it all out. Tao probably thinks you’re a freak. Kris pounded his fist against the mirror almost cracking it. He slid to the ground. He stuck two fingers down his throat and threw up the little contents of his breakfast. His throat burned. It was parched. He rinsed his mouth with water but continued coughing. He covered his mouth with his hand to soften the sound. He felt something wet on his hand. He removed it and was horrified to see his own crimson liquid. He had coughed up blood. ‘Have I already reached my limit?’ Kris questioned himself. He quickly rinsed his hands and downed a glass of water. He deemed it as just a onetime thing. Perhaps he only coughed up blood due to lack of sleep or whatever. He ignored his problem. The one thing he could not get his mind off of was Tao. ‘Is Tao disgusted with me now? He’s going to tell everyone. I told him to go away. I feel so alone and empty now.’ He grabbed his school bag and proceeded to walk to school. He felt nauseated but his mom would probably get suspicious if he stayed from school. He cringed at a constant throbbing pain in his throat. He brought his hand up to warm it from the chilly autumn weather. ‘If I hadn’t made Tao go… would he had stopped me? Why did he leave without objecting… I guess he really gave up on me…’ Kris continued to think his way through all the events that occurred in the morning. ‘He thinks I’m disgusting so he ran away,’ he concluded. Kris had been pondering so much he hadn’t realized he had walked all the way to school. He started breathing heavily as he walked past the multiple students at his school. Kris was popular, everyone waved hi to him and greeted him. He had a fake smile plastered on his face to greet them back. Members of the basketball team met up with him and greeted him cheerfully. All but one. Kris noticed that Tao was not with the basketball team today. Kris continued to engage in small conversations with the basketball team, eyeing Suho and Kai who were calling him fat the other day. Kai had a perfect figure. He had sun kissed skin, toned abs, he was skinny and fit. All the girls admired him. How could someone be so perfect? He wasn’t mad at Kai. He was thankful to Kai, for making himself realize how shitty he was. Kai was the perfect human being. He was simply helping Kris become one himself. Kai broke his train of thought. “Hey Tao!” Kai called over Tao. Instinctively, Kris turned around likewise his teammates. He regretted it immediately after making eye contact with Tao. Tao started dead straight into Kris’ eyes but quickly averted them to his other team mates and waved. Kris looked down at his watch. “Hey guys, I need to get to class, I need to study a bit before the test. See you guys,” Kris said to his group. Tao quickly made his way to the group after Kris left. “Hey guys,” he said. “Hey man,” Kai greeted. Tao felt Luhan hug him from the back. At the same time, he felt daggers shooting at his neck from a certain Oh Sehun. “Ayy Luhan,” Xiumin commented, “only Kris can do that to him.” The rest of them laughed, knowing how close Tao and Kris’ friendship was. “It’s okay, you’ll get to see him at practice afterschool today,” Suho said, “and you have plenty classes with him throughout the day don’t you?” Tao nodded. “Haha, he’d better not slow us down today. Man, his shots yesterday were really off,” Kai ranted. “Even you have to admit that Tao.” Tao shook his head. He didn’t know how to respond without revealing Kris’ privacy to them. “I think he seems really tired lately,” Tao admitted, trying not to make it seem like he knew something.“It’s more like he’s out of shape, really,” Kai bluntly stated. The other guys tried to oppose to Kai and tell him not to say things like that but Tao just stood silently
