Amber rubbed her eyes and sat up, groaning as the baby cried. Again.She scooped him up from between Henry’s stirring body and her own, cradling him to her chest and whispering soothing words to help calm him down as she leaned back against the headboard. He didn’t need diaper change; Henry had freshened him up not even two hours ago. It wasn’t that he was too hot or too cold; he was wearing a loose pajama gown that kept him warm without being too warm. He was probably just hungry.She sighed, raising the fabric of her camisole to grant her son better access to her breasts. Her right breast was fuller, he hadn’t eaten from that one in a while; she guided his tiny mouth until he latched on hungrily.She watched his small sleeping face in the darkness, intrigued.He was so beautiful. So, so beautiful.She had thought her own traits would detract from his beauty- she had hoped he would look more like Henry than her- but he was the perfect combination between the two of them; a blend of their best assets. She hoped his personality would turn out to be like that, too.She traced his petit facial features absentmindedly, admiring how much he had grown within the last week. It had been exactly seven days since he had been born, and he had already gained weight. He was eating well, and sleeping as well as a newborn could.
