“Kai!...Kai!!...Kim Jongin are you paying attention to me at all?!” The teacher shouted angrily at the student in question, who was leaning back on two legs of the chair with his shirt untucked and his tie half-done and was lobbing balls of scrunched up paper toward a bin in the opposite corner of the room.“Who me?” Kim Jongin asked lazily as his final piece of paper fell short. “Sure I am.”“Then what am I currently talking about?”“I’m gonna assume its mathematics.”“Congratulations Jongin, you at least know what class you are in, but do you know what theory I am talking about?”“Nope, not at all.”“I thought as much,” The teacher sighed. “Go and pick up your papers. Now.”“You know sir, instead of spending so much time on me, why don’t you have a go at Lazy-Ass over here –”“Jongin, watch your language.”“– and keep the spotlight off me for a little bit even though you love me.” A few students in the class dared to giggle at Kai’s boldness before going quiet once again.“I was getting to him,” The teacher barely had his annoyance reigned in. “Now pick up your rubbish and we can all carry on.”Kai heaved a melodramatic sigh. “Fine. But here, let me make your job easier for you!” With a smirk – that had the girls of the class swooning – he picked up his eraser and threw it hard across the room with well-practiced aim before sitting down abruptly as it hit his blonde-haired target.“S’break yet?” A bleary eyed boy raised his head from where it had been resting on his open text-book and rubbed a hand lazily across his cheek.“Haaa~ you were drooling.” Kai stretched back in his chair again.“Jongin if you do not pick up those papers in the next ten seconds it will be detention for you. Oh Sehun, no it is NOT break time and I would appreciate it if you would pay attention in my class if you have any intention of passing your finals successfully.”“Sorry sir, I mean yes, of course, sir,” Sehun haphazardly tried to organise his desk, flushing bright red as he realized he had been caught mid-snooze. “I’m paying attention sir.”“No-one likes a kiss-ass Sehun.” Kai mumbled before an eraser hit him sharply on the nose. “OW! What was that for?!”“I’m not a kiss-ass!!”“ENOUGH!” The teacher boomed. Every student in the class immediately snapped their heads forward so as not to incur the teacher’s wrath. “Kim Jongin I better see you walking to pick up those papers right now or so help me…”“You wouldn’t make threats against an innocent student would you?” Kai finally stood up and began lazily strolling toward the papers, kicking them toward the bin with his feet.“Do not test my patience.”

“Come now sir, you know I suck at tests.”“Do not use sarcasm on me.”“Oh, I wouldn’t.” Kai shook his head a little too vigorously to be serious, and it was the final straw for the teacher.“That’s it. Kim Jongin get out of my class. I will organise detention for you as soon as this period is over.”“No! Sehun, save me!” Kai grabbed his friend in a headlock who immediately tried to fight back.“What the hell man?! Don’t drag me onto your sinking ship!!”“Save me! Save me!”“Get off!”The teacher couldn’t take it anymore, he stormed over to the two trouble-makers and grabbed both of them by an ear, causing them to whine in pain as he dragged them to the door.

“Get out of my class; I will speak to you afterward.” With that, he slammed the door in their faces. Sehun looked appalled while Kai merely clapped his hands together.“Well, that was a job well done.” He stated.“Well done?” Sehun looked appalled as he stared at his friend. “After what we agreed, you let the teacher catch me sleeping in class and therefore got us both thrown out and you think that’s “well done”?”“I didn’t wanna be out here alone.”“We had a deal Kai! I’m already ahead in mathematics, we agreed that you’d keep attention off me while I caught up on thleep in thothe lethons!” Sehun’s lisp started showing as he got aggravated and Kai couldn’t help but snicker. “It’th not funny!”“You know it is.” Kai tried to keep his laughter under control. “But why don’t you just go to bed earlier then? So you don’t have to sleep in class.”“I can’t do that Kai! Finals are in less than a month! I need to make sure I know everything in physics, that’s the last one I’m struggling on. I can do this Kai, but I just need you to keep helping me!”“Why are you so concerned about finals?” Kai asked as he shuffled round the corridor.“You’re not?” Sehun’s eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his sockets. “They’re the most important exams in your entire schooling! Don’t you want to have a good future Kai?”“I want an interesting future; school sure as heck won’t give me that.” ~ “Did we perhaps choose the wrong one?”“No, it was written that there would be twelve, and he is one of those twelve successful experiments.”“But perhaps we made a mistake? We could always try again, create another and –”“No! There is no time! It approaches and we barely have enough time to put our own preparations into action. If we were to pull one experiment after so long, not only would it break the hearts of the other eleven –”“They don’t know each other yet…”“– but it would throw the entire cosmos into chaos more so than it currently is. If they were to hear of this, we would be ended, the twelve would be ended without even having begun to discover their true identity.”“He just does not seem to be as we predicted him to be. The others all seem serious, and cautious, he seems to be the complete opposite. Perhaps there was tampering in the development…”“Impossible! No-one could have tampered with the twelve! We would know instantly. It is impossible. By the time of the event we shall see quite clearly the true spirit of the twelve and then that may put an end to your constant worries. We have not waited 23 years for this successful plan to go to waste.” ~ “Do you ever think you’re just wasting away your education Kai?” Sehun asked as he flexed his fingers. It was after school now, and the two had been assigned to scrub all of the metal gates and fences at the front of the school’s perimeter. The main gate itself had so far taken them half an hour.“Here? Yeah, definitely.”“But think about your parents. They probably broke their backs to get you into such a prestigious school and you’re throwing it in their faces.”“Sehun, you know my parents, do they look like the kind to break their backs over anything?” Kai cocked his eyebrow at his friends’ negligence. Kai was the only son of a rich family, they had virtually given their son everything he asked for, and if he ever got into trouble the matter was soon dropped. Money was a helpful means of persuading people. Sehun on the other hand came from a more modest family and he took his education seriously, he was determined to do his parents proud and, despite their less than fond approval of his long time friendship with Kai, they were indeed proud of everything he accomplished.“Well true, but think about it Kai, you can’t live off your parents money forever. You have to make your own way in the world. You have to take your schooling seriously.”“What good will any of this,” Kai waved his hand around with a dirty sponge in it. “Do me in the real world? I’m telling you Sehun, it’s completely different. You’ll see. I’ll come out of here and do something spectacular. I can feel it.”“You actually have to pass first Kai…”“What are you saying? Are you calling me dumb?” Kai sounded aggravated.“No…no I –”“What? You think a brain didn’t come with these good looks?”“Sheesh man, calm down.” Sehun flicked soapy water at his friend. He still wondered how he had ever become friends with someone of Kai’s status. Sehun had to admit, he was a mega nerd and always had his nose buried in his books, determined to get the highest score; Kai was his only friend. On the other hand, Kai was practically the school playboy, even though Sehun knew he hadn’t slept with anyone – he couldn’t stop the rumours though – he was at the top of the social chain, boys and girls alike clamoured for his attention. But for some reason the two had gravitated toward each other many years back, they were almost inseparable in school; partners in crime, especially at this moment. “I didn’t mean anything by it, I’m just saying you’ve gotta take it more seriously, just for a month.”Kai through his sponge in the bucket at their feet and went to punch the metal gates before second thinking it.“That’s the other reason why I want out of this place. All these people thinking I’m nothing but a player. They don’t know me. They don’t really know who I am. Sure, the attention’s nice, it’s great. But the rumours, Sehun, I don’t do that, you know I don’t!”“I know…” Sehun mumbled.“I don’t want any of this…of this…this shit,” Kai spat the word out. “Following me around outside, what would my parents say if they ever found this out? Huh? We’re not that kind of family, I’d be kicked out. I just wanna be able to leave this behind and do something awesome, something huge!”Sehun opened his mouth to reply, but right before his eyes, it seemed as though Kai suddenly disappeared, only to reappear a few steps away. Sehun’s eyes went wide and he rubbed them on the cuff of his shirt to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. When he looked back up again, Kai was also staring at him with a confused expression.“Why’d you walk away from me?” He asked, slightly hurt.“I didn’t,” Sehun almost squeaked. “Did you just…?”“What?”“You…”“What Sehun?”“…Nothing,” Sehun shook his head, thinking that his late nights must simply be getting the better of him. “Nothing, sorry, I…didn’t even noticed I’d walked away.” ~ Chen heaved a sigh as he stood behind the checkout. He just wished he could get out of this job and do something he wanted to do. But what would he do? He had no friends, no person to just call up and casually hang out with whenever he felt like it. He’d never had a girlfriend before and didn’t see any likeliness of that sort of situation happening in the near future. He just wanted a change, any change, he felt deep down that something in his life was about to end, that around the corner, something different was coming. But that was just wishful thinking. He pushed his round glasses further up his nose as he began scanning an elderly lady’s products, making small talk with her the whole time and smiling cheerfully. As soon as she had left though the smile slipped from his face and the same mundane routine of waiting kicked in once more. He wished he had a more interesting life, or at least a mildly interesting life, a life like the two people who sat in front of him in university had. The two boys always seemed to be chattering away about themselves, about others, about their weekends. They seemed to be popular, the round faced boy had a bit of an attitude on him, but the smaller faced one seemed almost feminine but nevertheless popular.“Wake up.” A mellow voice jerked Chen out of his day dreams and he saw one of his regulars standing in front of him. The man’s almond shaped eyes crinkled up as he smiled at Chen. This regular always surprised Chen, he didn’t know how, but he had a habit of sneaking up or just appearing out of nowhere, he must get some sort of kick out of it, but Chen found it welcome entertainment in his otherwise dull job.“Dreaming again today?” The stranger asked as he placed a few items on the counter.“Yeah.”“Still trying to get out of this job?”“Yeah.”“Having any luck?”“Not really.” Chen said dully. The stranger chuckled and Chen peeked up at him over his glasses. He looked like a person who was far better off then Chen, his red brown hair fell stylishly toward his left eye in many layers as though it was freshly cut, he always wore a faded black denim jacket that complimented his shape but somehow managed to look designer. Of course this guy would laugh at him.“You need to get out more, that’s your problem.” Said the stranger as he swiped his card for payment. “You spend a lot of time here I think, but I reckon all that could change soon.”“What?” Chen asked curiously.“I dunno.” The guy shrugged. “I just feel like something is going to happen soon, something is going to change. Of course, I might just be going crazy but it’s a feeling I have.”“So do I.” Chen thought he sounded a little too eager and worried that he might scare this regular away. However the man just smiled a brilliant smile whose cheeriness seemed infectious.“Seems like we’re thinking on the same wavelength. Tell you what, why don’t you come out with me for a night and we’ll see what’s out there. See if there’s some sort of change in the air.” The man collected his bagful of groceries and made for the door.“Hang on a minute.” Chen exclaimed and the man spun lazily on his heel. “Do you mind telling…I mean, out of curiosity, what’s your name?”The man smiled again.“Junmyeon. But you can call me Suho.” He wandered back to give Chen a handshake. As their hands met though, Chen felt a sharp shock of electricity run down his arm. Suho must have felt it too as he jerked his hand back suddenly. The two looked confused for a moment before Suho shrugged it off.“I’ll see you round.” ~ Well we've got a few characters introduced and it's only the first chapter, what could happen from here? ^^Thanks to anyone who is reading now and welcome to any new readers, I do NOT appreciate silent readers but I know you're all out there anyway. Thanks guys!
