[M] Chapter 27 (1/1)

Dongwoon rolled over in bed, cuddling up to Gikwang’s back and slipping his strong arms around his waist. Gikwang woke up to the feeling of a very familiar pair of lips lovingly running over his clavicle. The younger man groaned from being woken up, though the golden light streaming in from the open windows showed that it wasn’t particularly early. Once he had stopped frowning, he turned around in Dongwoon’s arms and snuggled closer to his chest, smiling.“You still up for today?” he mumbled, looking up at Dongwoon with bright eyes. The older of the two grinned and nodded, running his fingers up and down Gikwang’s toned arms.“But of course. It’s going to be lovely. Hannie will really enjoy it too.” He hummed happily. Gikwang smiled and yawned, looking adorable. Dongwoon pushed his fluffy hair out of his eyes and beamed. Gikwang crossed his eyes and stuck his tongue out, making him chuckle. “You’re so cute.” Dongwoon teased, cupping his cheek.“Oh, shut up, no I’m not.” The shorter replied, slapping his lover’s chest playfully.“Mmm, I beg to differ~” Dongwoon lightly tickled his neck, making him crack up with laughter. Gikwang grabbed his hands and they looked into each other’s eyes, smiling. They nuzzled noses lovingly for a few seconds before Dongwoon dived in for a kiss, claiming his lover’s lips slowly and gently. After everything that had happened to him in the past, the taller man had become a sweet, slow lover and he was never rough, just the way Gikwang liked him. The kiss lasted a while, the two males putting all they felt for each other into it, their arms around each other. When their lips reluctantly parted, they smiled and just lay there, holding each other peacefully.“I love you, Woonie.” Gikwang whispered into his shoulder.“I love you too, Kiki. I always have and I always will.” Dongwoon professed quietly, rubbing circles onto  the soft skin of Gikwang’s back.“Do you ever feel strange about Doojoonie? I know it’s been a long time since I’ve asked you that, but I still wonder if it’s ever weird for you. You know, because of how involved he still is in our lives.” The younger asked thoughtfully. Dongwoon shook his head straight away.“I used to. It was weird at first feeling like I had to share your heart with a man I didn’t even know, but that feeling left me a long time ago. All I feel for him is respect, because he’s shaped all of our lives and I’m grateful for that. Everything seems right in the world, like this was his plan. Today is the perfect way to make sure he is thanked properly.” He answered truthfully. Gikwang beamed, pulling away from the cuddle to look at Dongwoon properly.“Did I tell you I loved you?” he joked. The taller male grinned again and attacked him with kisses all over his small face. Gikwang squirmed and laughed, whacking him away, but he was relentless.“You are absolutely my favourite tiny man in the whole wide world.” He said after he had stopped kissing his lover. Gikwang huffed.“I’m not that tiny!” he whined.“Oh yes you are, baby. Doojoonie would agree, too~” A particularly bright ray of light shone Dongwoon in the face and he smirked. “See?” he teased. Gikwang pretended to be outraged.“Honestly, Doojoonie! And to think today is all about you!” he tutted, folding his arms in mock-annoyance. Dongwoon laughed.“It is indeed. That reminds me, we should probably get dressed and round everyone up and make our way down to the orphanage. We don’t want to keep the children and the Yangs waiting, do we?” he reminded. Gikwang shook his head and placed one last kiss on Dongwoon’s mouth before sitting up and swinging his legs out of bed, standing up and shuffling around to get dressed. Dongwoon followed suit. After just over an hour, everyone in the house was ready and Haneul excitedly clasped the item of the main event underneath her arm, bouncing happily all the way down the drive. The family took the train journey that Gikwang had taken for what seemed like the millionth time and enjoyed the unnaturally warm winter weather, cheerfully talking about what was going to happen. Haneul sat on Dongwoon’s lap and pointed out everything that interested her out of the window, talking to her daddy about which story books the setting reminded her of.They arrived at the orphanage relatively quickly and wandered calmly towards the entrance. From outside, it would be impossible to recognise the building. The three months that had passed since Mr. Son brought the place really had done wonders. The new white-washed exterior of the institution totally transformed it, making it look a whole lot brighter and an overall much friendlier place to be than it had done before. New windows were fitted on all sides, giving lease for new light to shine in, with pretty baby-blue window sills. The door, which had once been grey and made of heavy metals, was now polished oak wood and so much lighter. It was unbelievable, really.Upon entry, everyone else in the building cheered. Gikwang beamed at everyone. Giving the children quick cuddles and standing by them. He had seen them every single day since he had started working there, but he never quite got used to how much healthier they looked. They all wore their very most comfortable clothes from the new wardrobes the Sons’ had provided them with; Doojoon wouldn’t have wanted them to wear stuffy suits on such a happy occasion. Each child had chubbier cheeks and a caramel colour to their skin from being able to play outside. They weren’t sickly at all, and every single one of them smiled, which was something they would rarely have done previously. Hyunseung waved at him with his free hand, his other entwined with Junhyung’s, who he had started dating recently and the whole affair had been the talk of the orphanage since it began. On Hyunseung’s other side stood Yoseob and the rest of the Yangs. After Seungho had told the younger boy they were brothers, the two had done everything possible to get to know each other. Before long they had formed such a close relationship that Doctor and Mr. Yang really didn’t have the heart to separate them. They adopted Yoseob over the following weeks, which the young boy was extremely happy about, though at first it did drive a small wedge between he and his best friend Hyunseung. Initially, Hyunseung had been angry to just have been ditched like that, but Yoseob came to play every single day, even though he pushed him away at first. He gave in and the two picked up from where they left at before. Now, Yoseob rested his head on Hyunseung’s shoulder and smiled at Gikwang, showing off his perfectly straight teeth. As soon as everyone was in the right place, Gikwang clapped his hands to get their attention. “Hello, everybody! As you know, there have been some major changes in here,” the children cheered again. Gikwang chuckled. “But none of those changes would have been possible without a man who sacrificed so much and unfortunately cannot be here. We all miss him terribly, which is why we have to show that he is forever in  our hearts and that we are eternally grateful.” Everyone nodded meekly, Hyunseung giving Junhyung’s hand a comforting squeeze and Seungho putting his arm around his little brother. Haneul bounded up to Gikwang, clutching the silver item she had been so carefully carrying the whole way. Gikwang ruffled her hair. Dongwoon smiled.“So, today we have decided to mark and honour Doojoonie’s life by putting up a plaque right here. The place where so many things went wrong, but only in order to let the rest turn out right. He looked after not only Kiki, but most of the children in this very room. Also, without him, we wouldn’t have our lovely Haneul here.” Dongwoon added, holding Gikwang’s waist and patting his daughter on her back.“Can I put it up now, daddy?” Haneul said impatiently, looking up at Dongwoon with wide eyes. The man laughed and looked at Gikwang for permission. Gikwang nodded and smiled at their daughter, pulling Dongwoon to the side with him so she could take centre-stage.Haneul skipped to the wall in delight and reached up to where a perfectly placed nail had been hammered. She pulled the object from under her arm and hung it up, smiling at how shiny it was. She bowed to everyone and stepped aside. The whole room cheered, all eyes glued to the silver-plated plaque that was now glittering from the wall. Haneul ran over to stand between Gikwang and Dongwoon, who were cuddled up and looking fondly at the plaque. Yoseob hugged his older brother tightly and took a deep breath, willing himself not to cry. Narsha put her arm around Taecyeon and closed her eyes, resting her head on top of his. Taecyeon wiped a tear from his eyes.Yoon Doo Joon, 1897-1912

For the adventures that would never have happened without him and the adventures still to come with him in our hearts. Forever loved and never forgotten, the angel who has looked over all of us and continues to be our dearest Doojoonie, whom was never captured by these four walls.“Until we meet again, Doojoonie.” Gikwang whispered, letting go of the last piece of sadness left in his heart, like a butterfly taking to the sky for the first time.   A/N:Well.. here is the end! :( I'm so sad to be leaving it.. maybe a sequel one day.. but for now hold up!
