Love.Nayeon can't fathom how strong that four letter word is. When she was still a kid, she can't imagine how some people, despite being hurt so bad, again and again, can't seem to let go of someone they love. Her mother stayed, even when her father was a total asshole. At such a young age, Nayeon never saw the beauty in holding onto something that was rotten inside out. It isn't that hard to let go, really, that's what she's always been thinking at that time. Nayeon despised her father, everything about him, from how his mouth moves when he utters lies, how he raises his voice when he gets mad, how he always settle to violence when he wants control. She didn't want to hate her mother but at some point, she did too.Just why can't she leave him? Why?It was around her early teens that she finally decided to run away. It wasn't planned, Nayeon didn't know anyone. They keep on moving places everytime the people her father are in debt with find them. They never stayed at one place for long, the longest was probably a month or maybe less, she really can't remember, it doesn't matter anymore. For the first time, Nayeon felt free, relieved that she's gone away from the prison cell like life that she had; yet at the same time she's afraid. She doesn't know if she'll survive. After all, she's just a fifteen year old girl who doesn't have anyone. But she knew damn well that she can't stay with her parents as well. She needed to go, she needed to save herself."So, how many dreams have you thought about?" a low voice breaks Nayeon's reverie. She shifts on her seat and looks up. "Hey, when did you arrive?""Just now. You're so absentminded, you didn't notice I came in. Tsk tsk. I may have been not training you well.""Oh please, Eros." Nayeon rolls her eyes."Respect, kid, respect me.""I do." she simply replies and stands up. Nayeon then fixes the slight crumple on her skirt.Eros smiles before opening his tiny 'book of love' as what he calls it. "Another one from the list, you're getting closer in becoming my actual apprentice Nayeon. Just one more." "So? Where's my reward?""So demanding, are you in a hurry?""I am. I need to go home right now, it's getting so late, my roommate is gonna get mad at me again.""I could just teleport you, you know." Eros offers.Nayeon shakes her head abruptly. "No. The last time you did it, you sent me to my roommate's bathroom and she's having a shower, you just laughed at me for the whole week, you didn't know what struggle I had been through because of what you did. And now that I remember it, I think you purposely did that."Eros laughs and gives a subtle nod. "It took you so long to realize it.""I was just 'respecting' you that's why I didn't say anything, I am even doing my best to deal with your bullshit.""Hey! Language."Nayeon scoffs. "Just tell me if you'll give me a reward or what, I need to go home.""I am feeding you, I send you to school, I give you allowance, everything..and you .""Thank you." Nayeon cuts him off.Eros was caught off guard. He narrows his gaze when he finally snapped back to the reality. "It's the first time I heard you say that...""Must be these emotions I've been feeling this day."It's been 4 years since Nayeon left her previous life, she didn't really want to think about those times anymore. But whenever it comes to the day the she met Eros the first time, she always ends up wondering what if she had chosen to stay. What other possibilities could have happened if she decided differently.Honestly speaking, Nayeon doubted Eros when he introduced himself. Who would believe a man claiming to be the god of love? Nayeon surely wasn't one of them. Not until he was left with no choice but to exhibit a bit of his power. She was at awe. She didn't know they exist for real. It must have been the hunger that's taking a toll on her, she's losing her mind, but then Eros was persistent to make her believe.Since that day, Nayeon's life has never been the same anymore. Eros provided everything for her. Sometimes, Nayeon wants to question the god, why her? Out of all people, why her? He didn't ask anything in return, aside from telling Nayeon that she will be his apprentice after completing a certain test.It excites Nayeon, being with a god for your whole life, knowing that she won't be worrying about human problems anymore, that she will also have her own magical powers, that she will never think about any heartaches because she won't ever fall in love just like what happened to her mother. She's been doing a great job in that part. Whenever someone tries to court her, she immediately shuts them off. Nayeon knows better than to raise other people's hope. She's not someone who's going to stay because she made a deal with a god, and in exchange for everything, she needs to go with him and stay by his side forever."For you reward." Eros starts off. "You can now see the thing you humans call red string of fate.""Where is it attached? On the wrists?" Nayeon lifts her hand and stares at it."Yes, on the wrists but you can't se
