French Toast and a Headac (1/1)
Jongin’s dream was disturbed when a beam of sunlight crept into the window to bid him good morning. He turned to the side and saw his roommate’s (D.O.) bed all tidied up. He yawned groggily and checked his alarm clock: 10:20am. His eyes widened and clumsily got up to go straight to the bathroom to bathe and brush his teeth. He was going to be late; no, he was late, and he could not afford to stain his perfect attendance. Oh who was he kidding? His perfect attendance is already stained; what he can’t afford now is missing the rest of the day without learning. Everything was in order, all that’s left is to get to school. He exited a door and was about to run as fast as he can when he heard a voice. “Hyung?” the question surprised the dark-skinned boy that he flinched. It belonged to Eunjae; she was wearing a loose yellow shirt with a smiley face and a pair of jogging pants. “Eunjae-ssi? Why are you still here? Crap, I’m already late!” he panicked while closing the door when a soft giggle escaped Eunjae. “Hyung, calm down. It’s a Sunday.” She informed with an amused look. Jongin only blushed a shade of red, too embarrassed to look at her. To top it off, a low grumbling was heard from his stomach. “Why don’t you change first and meet me at the kitchen. Let’s have some brunch together.” She smiled softly and proceeded downstairs. Jongin only nodded and went back to his and D.O.’s room. How could he forget that it was Sunday? How stupid can he be? Why did his stomach have to make that embarrassing sound? The blush was still obvious, even though his dark skin would make help in hiding it. He wore a red v-neck shirt and a pair of black shorts. He went downstairs and peaked at the kitchen counter. He saw Eunjae making something. He went to the dining table and sat silently. The youngest didn’t seem to notice him so he coughed awkwardly. “I know you’re at the table, hyung.” She said nonchalantly, while heating the bread slices. The male only kept his mouth shut and watch the new tenant silently. After a few minutes, brunch was served. “Here, hope you like it.” she slide the plate towards Jongin and placed the other one in front of him. it was French toast with maple syrup.“Uh, sorry, if you have to make me this.” He shyly apologized while taking a bite. “No biggie. I was getting hungry anyway, and I wouldn’t want you to wait, seeing that you would be late.” She said playfully, remembering the incident earlier. He only swallowed and continued eating silently.“Come on, hyung, you should learn how to loosen up.” She beamed.“A-anyway, have you seen D.O. hyung? I haven’t seen him in bed.” He asked to change the topic.“He’s asleep on the couch. Anyway, you’re close to him?” she said. “I’m close to his brother, and he occasionally defends me from bullies, but other than that, we’re not exactly close.” “I’m not really much of a fighter, and all those fights he got into, some of it were because of me.” He admitted bashfully.“Why you?” the brunette asked, curiosity got the best of her. “When they poke fun of me, I always end up insulting them, and hyung somehow comes to my rescue.” The dark-skinned boy admitted.“That’s so kind of him.” She said.“He is.” Their little conversation was interrupted when D.O. entered their midst. He was worn out from last night and the throbbing of his head was a huge pain.“Ugh. What happened last night? My head hurts.” The singer complained, his left hand rubbing his temple.“Good morning hyung.” She greeted the boy with the hangover.“Ugh, not too loud!” “Whose fault do you think that is? I had to drag your drunk ass home, handle your loud singing, and endure your alcohol smell.” Eunjae scolded him. “Ok, I’m sorry. Let’s just keep quiet for a while.” The singer begged, but the silence was cut short when a giant shouted from the stairs.“Good morning guys!” Chanyeol echoed.“Ssshhh!” Kyungsoo shushed before rubbing his temple to ease the headache.“What happened to him?” Baekhyun yawned groggily.“Hangover.”“Are you feeling any better?!” Chanyeol purposely shouted. “Stop that hyung.” Eunjae scolded and glared at Chanyeol. She then got a glass of water and put it near D.O. “Here hyung, it’ll make you better.” The singer only obliged in drinking it. “I’m going to bed.” D.O.’s headache was getting worse and decided to head back to his room and sleep it off.“What’s for breakfast?” Chanyeol asked as he sat on an empty chair.“It’s actually brunch. Want some French toast?” Eunah offered.“Thanks, Eunjae-yah.”“Anyway Eunjae-yah, Want to play some basketball later? Joonmyun hyung, Baekhyun and I need a fourth.” Chanyeol chirped. “Aren’t you going to invite them?” she asked pointing her fork to the two youngest male. They both froze and looked at the youngest in a quizzical manner.“You guys can watch. So what do you say?” the tall male said and turned to Eunjae for confirmation.“How about three-on-three: me, Jongin hyung and Sehun hyung versus you three.”“But I don’t—“, Sehun and Jongin protested in unison.“Ok.” Chanyeol agreed. The oldest proposed, “Let’s leave after lunch. There’s a covered court two blocks from here.”
