Fight for your life (1/1)
Sorry dear lovely readers. My semester break is over and I have been busy cleaning and unpacking in the hostel and my class start tomorrow so... I'm going to be a bit busy but I'll try my best to update and finish this before I get even busier Mir abruptly paused in his run. He jerked slightly forward as Lizzy crashed into his back. "What is it?" Lizzy asked only to be hushed by Mir and pushed to stand behind Mir. She waited nervously, clinging on Mir's arm. Her heart racing. Both in fear and from the running just now. But that was until she saw someone running towards them. "Unni!" "Jei..." Mir half-whispered, relief written all over his face and he offered Jei a gentle smile. Jei who had also stopped a few meters away from Mir also evidently looking relieved. She stared at Mir, looking like she was about to burst into tears. "Cheolyong-ah..." She called that name, taking a step closer when sounds like snorting interrupted the reunion moment. "C-Cheolyong!" Jei tried to get closer but stopped dead when a large wild boar came in between them, head down, sniffing on the ground. Her eyes widened in fear as she drift her eyes from Mir and at the wild boar. Lizzy gasped but was silenced as Mir turned swiftly at her and put his hand over Lizzy's mouth. Lizzy nodded, only then Mir released her. Mir looked back to Jei who was now looking at him helplessly, shaking in fear. Mir put his index finger on his own lips, mouthing for Jei to keep still and the lady nodded in understanding. The boar was still sniffing on the ground, blocking Mir and Lizzy from Jei. The animal still hadn't lift its head from the ground until Mir slowly picked up a small branch around him and threw it aside. The sound it produced attracted the boar as the animal went ahead. Mir released the breath he had been holding in. He stared at Jei like he always do. With love and tenderness. And without him knowing, the loving gaze he held towards Jei in his eyes was comforting Jei, and make she felt safe again as if those soft brown orbs belong to Mir was speaking to her, saying that it was fine now that Mir is here. She smiled at Mir, approaching the lad but just as she was a few steps away, Mir saw every little details as Jei's small frame was swept away by that large amber eyed feline mutant. His heart stopped in those short yet long moment. Everything went slow in his eyes. "NO! JEI!" "UNNIE!" Lizzy screamed in horror, shutting her eyes and covered her ears as she crouched down on the ground, still screaming and bawling her eyes out. Mir let out a murderous shout and shot the beast, hitting a few times on its body however, the beast wouldn't let Jei go and Mir didn't want to risk the stray bullet hitting Jei instead when the beast started moving around. Throwing the rifle aside, he leapt towards the feline beast without any fears. He jumped onto the back of the feline who had Jei in between its jaws, its sharp teeth digging into Jei's frail body. "LET HER GO!" Mir shout, grabbing on his rambo blade and thrust it deep into the right eye of the beast, blood splurting out from the wound. The beast yowled in long painful grieving sound as it lets Jei fall unto the ground from its mouth, now changing its target towards Mir instead. It kicked up and flung Mir's body away from him and Mir crashed onto the ground rolling away a few times. The beast hissed at Mir. Mir, acting almost like the beast itself, held his glare on the beast's glowing amber eyes and bare his teeth and let out deep growl from inside his throat. This beast was so going down and he would make sure of it! The thunder split the sky and the cold drops of rain wetting the earth. "Oppa!" Mir turned slightly towards Lizzy who was standing behind the beast in a safe distance just in time to see the girl tossing his rifle to him. Catching the rifle, he swiftly threw away the buckshot and put in another bullet as this rifle could only fire one shot at a time. The beast was fast but Mir was fortunate since the beast had already been injured from the earlier shoot and also from the fight against the one side blind canine monster before. Mir didn't have time to even pointed his rifle in the right direction when the huge cat with amber eyes claws flew his way. Mir stumbled backwards, barely missing the razor-edge claws which whistled past him. It didn't touch his skin but his yellow jacket received the brunt of those sharpness. When Mir was still trying to regain back his balance, he saw dark shadow moving fast towards him from the corner of his eyes as the beast lunged at him and he let himself fall back to delay even just a second of the feline attack on him as he raised the rifle in response, releasing a hasty shot. It wouldn't have hit if only the beast was far from him but fortunate for him the shot landed right in the middle of its glowing amber eyes and the beast ploughed into the ground, half of its heavy weight was crushing Mir, its blood splashing onto Mir. The beast was still breathing, slowly and weakly. Mir saw up close as the glow in the amber eyes dimmed out and finally faded as the beast released its last breath. Mir wriggled himself out from under the weight and struggled to breath, coughing out another spoon of blood. His chest start to throb badly yet again. Jei! His own mind reminded him. He wobbled his way towards Jei who was now lying weakly on the wet grasses with her head on Lizzy's laps. Her eyes stared up wide on the dark sky. Her chest waved rapidly as she struggled with her own breath. "Noona." Mir flopped down next to Jei. He gave a look at Lizzy who nodded and let Mir gathered Jei's weakened body into his arms. Mir gently caressed Jei's cheek, smiling gently when Jei's eyes finally focused on him. "Hey..." Jei swallowed. Even breathing was becoming hard. Her torso and chest, even her arms were torn and bleeding. But all the pain didn't really matter anymore when Mir's face came into her sight, looking so scared even after fearlessly fighting against the beast. There was no other explanation. Mir was scared for her. Scared of losing her and that made her once again felt comforted despite the situation where she could practically see death waving at her, just like a few minutes ago when she was running for his life after the beast attacked Minho and one of the ranger they had coincidentally met in this jungle. Mir could sooth her with just a single gaze of those wide brown orbs. "Hey..." Jei replied with much difficulty, letting out sound of chocking. "Shh... Everything is going to be just fine. I'll take you out of here." Mir ensured. Jei smiled but painful grimace took over her face just a second after. "W-we all k-know. I'm dying." "No. Of course not. I'm going to take you out of here and we will get help. You'll be saved." Mir tried again. Jei snuggled into Mir's palm which was still cupping her cheek, thumb caressing with such gentleness she could feel her tense body due to pain relaxing even more. Jei stared long into Mir's brown orbs. "I like your eyes. They're so pretty." Mir smiled. A forced one of course. "You are pretty. Maybe because I'm looking at something beautiful like you that even my eyes become pretty." "R-really?" Mir nodded. "The most beautiful girl." Jei inhaled. Her eyes drooping. "Then... W-why don't y-you want me?" Her voice trailed off and her head fall limp against Mir's palm. Last breath escaped her lungs and she was still forever. Mir felt silence dawn around him that he couldn't even hear the voice of his own mind. There Jei was, lying in his hold like she was sleeping yet she wasn't breathing. Her heart no longer beating with the same rhythm as his. "Noona..." Mir called and strangely, even his voice sound echoing in his ears as if he was trapped in a glass box. "N-noona..." Mir called again. No response. Mir felt his heart aching, cracking and shattered into thousand pieces. His tears leaked from his eyes and fused with the rain beating down on them mercilessly. His breath ragged and he let out a loud grieving shout while holding onto Jei's unmoving body closely against his chest. He failed... He failed her... A hand comfortingly massaged Mir's shoulder. "Let her go, Oppa... There's nothing we can do." Lizzy's voice barely registered by Mir's brain. He was in too much pain that all the physical pain he felt before became a laughing matter against this pain. Pain of losing the only girl he had ever loved more than himself. Mir didn't respond. He buried his tear-stained face into Jei's hair. His sorrowful sobs muffled there as he grieved and grieved for a long passing time. It took him long for his tears to dry out and he pulled away, running a delicate finger along Jei's pale cheek. "Do you know?" Mir spoke after a while, voice raspy. Lizzy lift up her head, wiping her own tears away and stared into Mir's eyes which was glued on Jei's face. "Hmm?" Lizzy hummed. "Do you know that feeling when you have something so precious you feel the wants, the greed, to monopolize it but you are just so afraid you might break it with your own hand? So you let it go. Unable to do anything but watching over it from far. Because you're afraid once you get too close, then you won't be able to control that howling want and eventually broken it." Lizzy kept quiet, not really understanding. "For me, Jei is that precious..." He should have told her. He should have just told her what he had kept in his heart. Now he lost that chance. Another tear dripped down his chin, plopping silently on Jei's now cold cheek. @@@@@@@@@@ GO stiffened at that loud heart-wrenching cry, a wince appeared on his face as his chest twinge in pain. "Cheolyong-ah..." That name danced on GO's lips. He looked up to the dark sky, feeling the cold rain plopped on his face, the wind blew harshly, causing him to shiver. Something was wrong... He could feel it. He could feel it strongly. @@@@@@@@@@@ Mir stared long at Jei's lovely face before taking off his yellow jacket, using it to cover Jei's body. He stood up, eyes now cold and sharp as he approached the corpse of the beast he had slay before. "Oppa? What are you doing?" Lizzy asked, watching from Jei's side as Mir went up to the dead monster. Mir didn't answer. His sharp eyes ran all over the large cat. He took out his rambo blade and sliced on the cat's mouth, causing Lizzy to squeeze her eyes shut from the sight of Mir slicing open the dead cat. Mir took out a fang from the cat's mouth. A fang that was a bit larger than his palm. Mir pulled on the loose string from his blood stained t-shirt and tied it around the fang before putting the handmade necklace of fang on around his neck. Mir stared up at the night sky, feeling the cold rain beating against his cheeks. As if the sky could understand his heart right now, a lightning split the dark night and the thunderclap echoed in his ears. Yes. It was storming right there in his chest yet it was calm at the same time. "Lizzy." He called out in a quiet, almost scarily calm voice. "D-de, oppa." Lizzy stuttered out as she could feel the changes in Mir. Something in Mir was snapping. Some kind of beast inside Mir had escaped. "Do you want to follow me or do you want to walk out of here?" He asked, still having his eyes on the dark night, letting the rain wash the blood away, though still leaving much stain on him. "Huh?" Lizzy swallowed loudly. Of course she want to get the hell out of here. There were murderous beasts infesting this jungle and she wasn't about to stay for a second longer if she could help it. "Let's go." Mir started walking, expecting Lizzy to follow him right after. "B-but, oppa." "I'll send you to the clearing and show you the trail out. Then, you can leave." Lizzy jumped up, grabbing on Mir's arm. "Oppa! Don't do this. Why are you acting like this. If you know the way out, then let's just get out of here. Together." Lizzy said, almost begging. "Do you think you can do it? Use this gun, I'll show you how to use this." Mir ignored Lizzy completely, trying to teach Lizzy. "Oppa! Listen to me- Oh god!" Lizzy halted and burrowed herself into Mir's embrace, hiding her face there when they walked into Minho, or more like what was supposed to be the remaining of Minho. Mir gritted his teeth and closed his eyes. Another friend. Another lost. And it would keep on happening and he would keep on losing people he cherished. Unless he did something about it. Beside Minho's disfigured body, there was another body of the ranger, didn't seem to be better than Minho. "Lizzy... You really should get out of here. You see how bad it is." Mir lead Lizzy around the dead bodies, letting Lizzy used his chest as the shield to block her sight from the goriness of the death, leaving the site behind. There was nothing else he could do for any of them. "That's not what I'm worried about. I'm not worried about myself. It's you. Let's just leave together, oppa. Can't you see? That could happen to you too! You're risking you life." "How many lives do you have?" Mir asked, pushing Lizzy off of him once they were away from that site. Lizzy's hands fall from Mir to her own sides. She took a half-step back at the look in Mir's eyes. This wasn't the Mir who she knew. This wasn't Mir who she loved... "Here, in this forest, I only have two more lives left." "What?" "Seungho and Byunghee." And he will fight for them!
