Chapter 14 : The Maknae (1/1)

It was fifteen minutes after twelve in midnight when Mrs Jung quickly woke up from her sleep. She turned and saw her husband was already nod off on the sofa. She sighed and looked her unconscious daughter due to the accident in front of the 'haunted' bungalow. Was people's story about the seven guys that were always seen in the bungalow's compound true?Mrs Jung held Meen's right hand. She cried bitterly. Please wake up, my dear.***Meen ran here and there to find Sungjong. She was so happy to know that Sungjong was the last guy before she reveal the mystery and leave the house. While running, she called for him several times. Tired of running, she strolled around the mansion. She felt Sungjong's current place was at the second floor, so she went there. She sat on the stairs and breathed properly.Wait for me, Sungjong! I'll meet you!"I found you."Meen turned. "Sungjong!" she immediately cuddled him. Sungjong laughed to Meen's sudden hug. "You're so funny, Meen."Meen quickly released him. She rubbed her eyes. It was true that Sungjong stood in front of her. "Luckily I've found you.""I found you first."Meen narrowed her eyebrows. "Oh, yes! You stand behind me first before I hug you." Meen's cheeks blushed.Sungjong smiled widely. Meen was lured. She liked Sungjong's pinkish lips. Just like she wanted to kiss them. But, wait! She couldn't do that! Meen reminded herself. She saw a box in Sungjong's hands. "What are you holding, Sungjong?""A box."Meen gave him a cool look. "I mean, what's its content?""A puzzle. Want to join me finish it?"Meen cheered. "Of course! I like puzzles and crosswords! Can I join you?"Sungjong winked. "Of course you can! But, here's too small for the puzzle. It has 1000 pieces, so the result must be big."Meen caressed her chin. "1000 pieces? Are you kidding me?""Why? Don't you want to solve it?""I do want to. The more the pieces, the happy I am." Meen chuckled. "So, where are we going to start it?"Sungjong pulled her wrist. "Let's do it in my room."Meen followed Sungjong's steps from behind. She was too happy yet she was at sea earlier. They arrived at Sungjong's medium sized chamber. His room was smaller than others. Maybe his was the smallest. But, he got a large floor. So, his room was the best place to play puzzle. Sungjong sat on the floor, perpendicular to Meen. He opened the box and fished out the pieces. There were so many pieces until Meen had to moved backward. "Sorry for bothering you.""No, it's okay." Meen helped Sungjong turned the pieces facing themselves. Then, they started solving puzzle."Is this your favourite hobby?" asked Meen while her hand picking the suitable shape for the puzzle. "Indeed. I love it since I stepped here."Meen looked thebox at intervals to match the shape and to form the picture. Sungjong arranged the pieces."Don't you mind disentangle this puzzle?" inquired Sungjong."Nope, yet I like it. Since I do it with you by my side, I am spirited!" Meen held her fist. Sungjong chuckled. He continued arranging. "Once, I hate solving problem. I always run away from the problem rather than facing it. But, after I lived here with the hyeongs, I learned many things with them. Sunggyu hyeong always remind me not to easily give up and bravely face the trouble. It's not bad at all."Nevertheless, I was a person with high ego. I fell on deaf ear every time Sunggyu hyeong counselled me. Until one day, he gave me a puzzle. He thought I am a small boy, so he couraged me with the puzzle. I just followed his instructions, but then I fell in love with puzzles."Meen listened to Sungjong's story thoroughly. "I learnt, no matter how big the obstacles, how troublesome the dilemma is, I need to face it. It always a way to solve the problem. As long as we maintained our serenity." Sungjong caressed Meen's cheek and drew his face nearer to hers. "Just like you, no matter how at sea you are, you must try hard to understand us. It's a simple story though. You only need to be patient."Meen was touched by Sungjong's words. She gently pushed away his hand and continued solving puzzle. "Thanks for the advice, Sungjong. I will keep it for good." She smiled.Sungjong winked. "It's just a piece of small cake after all, Meen."They were too engrossed disentangling the puzzle while chatting until they didn't realize the time was three in the morning. Sungjong purposely did it. He wanted to wait for the dawn.I'll make sure she'll be mine before the dawn.
