Sacrifices of War (1/1)

Yongguk strolled easily along with the other five boys beside him. But keeping the jittery feeling out of his stomach proved more difficult than acting like World War III wasn’t happening inside him. He wasn’t sure what had set him off, but the look of worry and care in Himchan’s face while he was tending to Jongup could have played a key role in making him feel this way.He wanted someone to care for him like that, but what scared him was he wanted it to be him. Not just anyone, and not a girl. Yongguk’s heart fluttered uneasily at the thought. He didn’t have a problem with other people like Daehyun and Youngjae being gay, but himself? He had never thought of himself that way, but the way Himchan made him almost fall apart, made him wonder if it was possible.Yongguk had been trapped in his own thoughts and was surprised to see Zelo staring at him.“Did you hear what I said, Yonggukkie?”“W-what?”Zelo giggled at the elder’s strange mood. He was always paying attention, never had Zelo said something or done something that Yongguk did not notice.“You are acting strange Gukkie. I was saying Himchan doesn’t like pizza. He wants a salad.”Zelo made a face, who would want salad over pizza?Yongguk glanced at Himchan who was trying to put a Band-Aid over Jongup’s cut. He could tell the dark haired boy was listening though, he had his head tilted towards him, waiting for an answer. Yongguk jumped at the opportunity.“Himchan and I can go down the street some and get a couple salads, we can meet you back here later.”Yongguk was surprised by his own words and butterflies erupted in his stomach. He had just implied that he would have lunch, alone, with Himchan. Zelo gave him a strange look, Yongguk hated salads.“That would be most grateful. Thank you Hyung.”Yongguk’s heart fluttered once again when Himchan addressed him formally. The other four split off to enter the Pizza shop. Himchan and Yongguk continued down the street and found a small café. They sat out on the patio in the sun, the weather was getting warmer as summer approached. Himchan ordered a salad and Yongguk got a lemon soda. He couldn’t bring himself to stomach anything right then because of the nerves he felt.“What classes have you signed up for next term?”Himchan thought school would be a safe topic, plus he was genuinely curious if they were in any classes together. The term was up in a week and all of the class schedules would be changed. Being an upper classman Himchan already knew his schedule, and Yongguk should know his as well.“I have the basic classes in the mornings and ad-Dance, ad-rap, and beat boxing as elective classes.”Himchan smiled, giving Yongguk another shock and heart flutter. His smile, it’s beautiful.“I have basics in the morning too. What building are you assigned to?”Himchan hoped Yongguk was in the same building, It would be nice to have a friend in the same classes.“I think I am in C. You?”Himchan brightened and Yongguk couldn’t help but smile awkwardly back at the cheery face.“Me too! I’m glad I will have a friend there. Being alone gets old.”Yongguk’s stomach did a flip. Himchan wanted him in his class. He wanted to be near him. Yongguk could have jumped up and yelled victory to the world. Instead, he sat silently with a smile on his lips while Himchan finished his salad.*Zelo looked around the Pizza shop. Posters and pictures covered the walls, making a collage of colors that blurred together. Jongup walked in behind him and stopped behind Zelo’s shoulder. They were almost touching, Zelo’s heart raced, he could feel the other boy’s body so close to his. He looked back over his shoulder and Jongup looked up innocently.“You guys might want to come order before Daehyun comes back for seconds.”Youngjae had called across the room, Daehyun was already eating his pizza on the way to a table. The two got in line behind Youngjae and ordered their slices, then slid into the circular booth by the window. Youngjae seemed interested in getting to know Zelo and started to ask him questions.“I bet Zelo isn’t your real name. Am I right?”Zelo swallowed a bite of pizza.“No. It’s just a nickname. My full name is Choi Junhong.”Youngjae nodded, pleased with himself for figuring it out. Noticing Daehyun had pizza sauce smeared across his cheek, Youngjae took a napkin and wiped it away.“I see. You like dance I have gathered, but what else do you do? You obviously didn’t get in to this school on your dance skills alone.”Jongup giggled at Youngjae’s comment, remembering how Zelo had lost the battle earlier that day. Zelo gave him a hurt look but it quickly turned into a smile. Jongup’s heart jumped. His smile… He stopped himself there. He didn’t even know Zelo yet, he couldn’t let himself be crushing on him.Yet.“I rap.”Youngjae raised an eyebrow.“Must be why Yongguk wanted us to meet you.”Zelo was confused.“What do you mean?”Youngjae and Jongup stared at him like they had been caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Daehyun chuckled around his pizza.“Ooh gaith onna get uth in deep thit.”Younjae sighed and handed Daehyun and napkin.“Darling, you need to swallow before you speak.”“Don thell me wath thoo do.”Daehyun stuffed more pizza in his mouth and attempted to stick his tongue out at Youngjae.“It is rude, Daehyun-ssi.”Daehyun pouted but didn’t try to talk again.Zelo was still confused, why had Yongguk wanted them to meet him? He contemplated this while sipping on his bubble tea.Yongguk and Himchan entered the pizza shop and headed to the table with their friends. Yongguk came up behind Zelo and Jongup and ruffled their hair.“Hey!”Both of them looked behind them glaring at Yongguk, he lifted his hands in surrender and quickly pointed to Himchan. The two boys turned back around and tried to fix their hair, passing Zelo’s pocket mirror between them. Yongguk chuckled at the two fussing over their hair and was about to mess with them again when ‘umma Himchan’ smiled at him. Stopping him with his hand in midair between himself and Zelo’s head.“Ah, Gukkie! My hair!”Zelo was whining and continued to fix his hair. But Yongguk didn’t even hear him, Himchan had looked away, but the smiling image stayed in his mind. Daehyun noticed the staring and whispered to Youngjae who started to giggle at the wide eyed Bang.“Bang-ssi, if you took a picture it would last longer.”Before Himchan could look at Yongguk and realize what had happened, Yongguk was already glaring at Youngjae. The younger boy just shrugged and cuddled up to Daehyun.Himchan looked from one to the other, and gave up trying to figure out what was going on. Instead he sat back and closed his eyes, falling instantly asleep. Yongguk pulled up a chair, seeing as there was no room left in the booth, and sat down.“Hey Z?”Zelo looked up at Yongguk.“Do you see that girl out there?”Yongguk pointed out the window and when Zelo looked, oblivious to the prank. Yongguk snatched his bubble tea and picked up the salt shaker.“Where Gukkie? Which one?”Zelo was trying to look past Jongup who was giggling.“That one there, with the dark hair.”Yongguk tipped the salt shaker and poured salt down into the straw.“Which one? They all have dark hair you know.”Yongguk placed the tea back on the table, Jongup was in hysterics now.“Never mind Z, she’s gone now.”Zelo turned back to his food and pouted a little. Yongguk stood up and looked at the group, all of them were smiling and eying Zelo to see what would happen next, except Himchan who was snoring quietly.“Well, I’m gonna head out to the sunshine. Anyone want to come with?”Youngjae cut in before anyone could say anything.“You go on ahead Bang, we will catch up.”Yongguk strolled out of the shop and glanced over his shoulder at the window just in time to see Zelo spit bubble tea/salt all over the table and the sleeping Himchan. He didn’t mean for it to end up on Himchan, and felt bad for that. The sacrifices of war I suppose.   ******A/Nsorry Its been a while, I plan on updating more soon!Tell me what you think!!!
