The First Call (1/1)
~Kaylie POV~I was sitting on my bed, in my room. It was 11 o'clock at night. I looked across from where I was and I glanced at my twin, Haylie, softly snoring in Dream Land. That's when I got a call. I looked at the number; it didn't seem familiar at all – it wasn’t even from the same country. I know you shouldn't pick up an unknown number, but I'm the curious type so I do it all the time."Hello?" My voice was a quiet whisper so I wouldn't wake up Haylie."Yeoboseyo?" Ah, Koreans."Ne? I salam-eun nugu-ibnikka? (Yes? Who is this?)" My Korean isn’t the greatest, but I do consider myself pretty fluent. No one was answering. "Yeoboseyo? Yeoboseyo?"That's when a lady said in English, "Hello? Would you rather speak in English or Korean, Miss?" I automatically said, "English, please. Um, what is this about?"The lady continued. "Is this Lee Soojae?" That’s Haylie’s Korean name."No, that's my sister. I'm Lee Soohae. How do you know us?"She laughed a bit and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. You two have been selected to go to South Korea for a week to be backup dancers for the Korean boy band, Super Junior." I was very dubious about it, but I was smiling."Excuse me, Ma'am, but what did you just say," I asked through cheesing teeth. She said in a cheery voice, "You and your sister are taking off to South Korea and being backup dancers for Super Junior."I let out an excited screamed. Haylie shot up from her bed. "KAYLIE! WHA-whoooa!" She started wobbling around. She got up too fast!My parents rushed in! My mom screamed, "KAYLIE! HAYLIE! ARE YOU GIRLS OKAY?!"I almost forgot about the lady on the phone. I grabbed my phone. "Hello? Are you still there?"Haylie asked, "Who is it? Is it a guy?!" She immediately turned to our dad. "I MEAN a guy to tell us we made the Dance team!" Dad gave her a glare. He still didn't want to lose his little girls.I screamed, "SHUT UP, SOOJAE-YAH!" Whenever anyone was serious in this household, we used our Korean names. "Ma'am? Are you still there?" She was laughing softly."Yes, Miss. I'm guessing you’re excited. Tell your family now. I can hear them in the background." I was embarrassed a little.I turned to my family. "ME AND HAYLIE ARE GOING TO SOUTH KOREA!" My family looked at me with a puzzled look. "I didn't finish. We’re going to be BACKUP DANCERS!"“FOR WHO!?” Haylie beamed.“Super Junior!”Me and Haylie ran towards each other, held hands and jumped around the room. Dad had a tired smiled on his face. He was happy, but obviously very tired. Mom laughed and grabbed my phone from my bed. "Hello, Ma'am. This is Haylie and Kaylie's Mother. What is this about backup dancing?" The lady explained. "What?! It's already paid for? How did my daughters even get this?" I looked at Haylie and we stopped jumping. I think we knew how. "Okay! Thank you very much! Goodbye." We stared with high hopes.Mom stared back, teasing us. "Girls.....START PACKING!!" The three of us screamed! Dad left laughing and trudging back off to bed.Haylie was curiously asked, "Mom? How'd they find us?" Mom had a confused look on her face."She said they saw a number of videos of your dancing. Have you guys been uploading videos?"We laughed. We knew it. "No, Mom. It wasn't us. It was Sallie! She's been secretly taping us practicing. We found out a few days ago." Sallie was a little girl genius we took care of next door. She loved our dancing and she was a tech wizard for an 8 year old. Haylie and I ADORED taking care of her. She was so cute even with her freaky brain.Haylie and I were at our closets grabbing random clothes out of the drawers and off their hangers. I turned. "Mom, aren't you going to pack?"She said, "It's only you two going."Well, this is a first.
