Gone (1/1)
(GD's POV)“Neira, why weren't you at the park today?” I asked. “Are you okay? Just call me back when you get this message cuz I'm really worried about you... Bye.”I snapped my phone shut and stared up at the white ceiling. We were supposed to meet four hours ago but she never showed up at the park. Is she all right?Ever since her parents died in a plane accident two years ago, I made her a promise that I would always take care of her. But now she's just acting so strange.“Arrg!” I groaned, rolling over onto my belly, my face stuck in my pillow.I hate this waiting game. I sat up and glared at the clock. Tick, tick, tick. It's almost five. Why hasn't she answered any of my calls yet?I flipped open my phone and dialed her number once more but was sent to her voice mail.“Hi, you've reached Choi Neira, I'm sorry but I'm busy at the moment so please leave a message at the beep. Thanks!”Beep!“Hey, ummm, I don't know if you got any of my messages but I'm gonna come over, OK?” I started. “I just wanna make sure you're fine. So, I'll see you in a bit.”I hung up and grabbed my keys off the night table. “Hey guys, I'm going out!” I yelled to the guys sitting in the den. “I'll be back later.”“Sure,” TOP replied. ~Neira's Apartment~ (GD's POV cont)
“Neira, are you in there?” I shouted, rapping on her door with my knuckles. “Open up, it's me GD!”I cocked my head to the side. Trying to listen for any noise coming from inside but it was silent.“Will you stop all that noise?!” a lady called out.I looked to the side and spotted an old lady, her head sticking out from her apartment three doors down from Neira's.“I'm sorry but ma'am,” I ran over to her. “Do you know where the girl who lives in that apartment is?”I pointed to Neira's front door. She glanced at me up and down making me feel uncomfortable. “And who are you?” she asked.“Uhhh, I'm a friend of hers,” I said. “I haven't heard from her all day, so I'm just worried.”She glared at me. “You must be mistaken, no one lives in that apartment. It's been empty for nearly a month now.”My eyes furrowed in confusion. “No, a girl with really long hair, she's about this tall, lives there... If she left she would've told me...”The old woman sighed and shook her head. “I can't help you, son.” And with that she shut her door. What? What's going on?With my chest heaving I ran back to Neira's door and twisted the knob. It was unlocked.I swung the door open to see – nothing. It was like no one had ever lived here. The furniture was gone, everything was gone, and all that was left was a single envelope sitting on the kitchen counter. With shaking hands I picked it up. 'GD' was written on the front. Turning it over I carefully tore it opened and gently took out the single sheet of paper. 'GD,I'm sorry. You can't imagine how sorry I am. I have to do this for your own good and even though it doesn't seem like it, it'll all work out in the end eventually. We might never get to see each other again but at least I know your happy so keep smiling for me.Your best friend,Neira I shook my head slowly, not believing what I was seeing. She left? But how can she? Why would she do this to me?Furious I crumpled up the letter and tossed it onto the floor and was just about to leave when I quickly bent down and picked it back up. I smoothed it out and stuck it back into the envelope then into my pocket.“I'll find you, Neira,” I whispered. I took another glance around me and left.
