Chapter 2: You Dont Know (1/1)
“So I had to sit outside for two hours before Sungyeol believed it was me” Woohyun shared as he typed in the code for the door. A small dull tune was heard as the door clicked open before we stepped inside. I continued to laugh at all his hilarious stories as we slipped our shoes off. “Shouldn’t you have some sort of backup key if you forget the code?” I asked curiously.Woohyun nodded, “I lost them that day as well” Another chuckle escaped my mouth as we both entered the living room. Two of Woohyun’s roommates were already in and were watching TV peacefully.“Woohyun, did you buy any milk whilst you were out?” shouted one of the men as he didn’t bother to greet Woohyun back home.“Is that Sunggyu?” I whispered, trying to take a guess at who was who. It wasn’t that hard after been given detailed descriptions of them all. Woohyun nodded, “told you he can be bossy” “Well, did you buy any milk?” I questioned whilst raising an eyebrow. I think I had found the forgetful one amongst the bunch of men.“I was going to, but then I ran into you and...” he trailed off as, the man I assumed was Dongwoo suddenly interrupted with a question.“Are you talking to yourself?” he turned around and his eyes turned to the size of golfballs as he was surprised to see me.“Chaeri!” he shouted out in pure excitement whilst his arms flapped about like a child on Christmas day, “Sunggyu, Chaeri’s back!” He began to prod and poke the elder male for attention. “Yeah right,” Sunggyu mumbled without turning around to face Woohyun and I, “if she was back, I would have noticed by now”Woohyun gave me a small nudge as if to say that was my cue to waltz in to shock the sceptical man. Rolling my eyes, I walked towards the middle of the living room slothfully, waiting for a large response. “Ta-da!” Woohyun chirped whilst flinging his arms up in glee, “the downside is that she doesn’t remember any of us, also, it’s best that we don’t try to make her remember or else she might, you know...” he trailed off. After saying so, I wonder what would happen if I did remember, was it some sort of humungous secret I couldn’t know?“Y-you’re- I can’t believe- You-“ Sunggyu was completely lost for words as he stood up and stared at me in bewilderment. Still being in utter disbelief, he started tapping on my shoulder to make sure I was really standing before him.“Stop that, you’re creeping her out!” Woohyun snapped as approached Sunggyu and pushed him onto the sofa. Dongwoo continued to stare at me as if I was some sort of miracle that had befallen him. I decided to just ignore the incessant staring and turned to Woohyun, “they’re not like this normally, right?”He shook his head, “no, they’re normally creepier than this”“Hey!” Sunggyu cried out, “I’m not creepy; I think you’ll find that you’re the creepiest one here”An uncontrollable small chuckle came out my mouth in response to Sunggyu’s retort. After the rather strange welcome, the three men decided to make a “Welcome home dinner”“You just sit and watch TV whilst we cook you a welcome dinner” Dongwoo grinned as he fluffed up a pillow and placed it behind my back. Before I could say a word, he rushed into the kitchen where Woohyun and Sunggyu were waiting. I heard a few pans dropping every so often as I sat back and relaxed and the sound of the three men arguing was constantly in the background.I rolled my eyes whilst reaching for the remote control to change the channel. Once I found a reasonably good show, I threw the remote back down onto the sofa and tried to engage into show. Sadly, I couldn’t as the show soon became boring and lacklustre; it was about some sort of zombie apocalypse and survivors of this unknown virus. I resorted to just turning off the TV, however, a voice suddenly protested against it. “Aw~ I love that show” I turned around to the source of the voice; I jumped back in surprise to find an unfamiliar face staring right at me. He had feminine features and looked quite friendly and approachable.“Are you Sungyeol?” I asked as that was the only roommate I had yet to meet. He shook his head and smiled, “I’m SungJong” he chirped dandily. “And you are?” I asked, as Woohyun had not mentioned this SungJong character to me whilst we were at the cafe.“I’m a friend of Dongwoo, I just came by to drop off his phone that he left it at my place” he held up a white cased phone with an abnormally large screen that could have been mistaken for an actual TV. I nodded in response feeling like it was a valid reason; I was glad he wasn’t some sort of burglar. “Are you Sunggyu’s girlfriend?” he asked curiously as he took a step closer towards me for a closer look.I shook my head, “I live here,” I said bluntly, “you don’t know me?” “Nope,” he answered as he gave me a funny look, “its nice meeting you though”For once, a person didn’t actually know me, which weirdly felt comforting and relieving. I couldn’t bear having another staring fest, followed by a prodding to make sure I was real.“Could you tell Dongwoo that I dropped this off? I need to go” he asked as if he was in a slight rush. I nodded and he swiftly left the phone with me and exited the apartment. I took the large brick phone and knocked on the kitchen door. The door creaked open by itself and I found the men hard at work, cooking billions of dishes for the "Welcome home dinner".“SungJong came by to drop this off” I handed the phone to a relieved Dongwoo and asked why SungJong didn’t know me, despite being Dongwoo’s friend. Surely he would have met me at least once if I did indeed know these men.“He was away on a year trip in Australia whilst you were here before,” he explained, “he came back to Seoul just when you disappeared” “Disappeared? Do you mean, when I left?” I asked. He shook his head, “you really did just disappear. Vanished into thin air” “And that’s probably why Myungsoo left a few months ago as well” Sunggyu added as he was sautéing some vegetables and chicken.“Who’s Myungsoo?” I had heard this name before from Woohyun, it was odd to know that I was the possible cause of his absence.“I think that’s enough of that talk,” Woohyun interrupted, “Myungsoo is history, he’s not going to come back” “You’re only saying that because you fell out with him, over her” Sunggyu argued back whilst waving around a very sharp looking knife. It didn't take a Sherlock like me to figure out this "her" was in fact me. Without a second thought, I left the kitchen to avoid hearing anymore arguements as my heart suddenly started to beat at an abnormally fast rate. This whole situation had become even more confusing for me. I had apparently known these men for a good amount of time, when suddenly, I disappeared without a word and now this old roommate, Myungsoo, had come into this messed up blurred picture. It became incredibly hard to fit all the pieces together and make a clear memory out of it.I made a mental note to myself to ask Woohyun later on for some full answers and not just some vague response on what really happened in my past. Because I was sure I wasn’t going to get anything out of the many petty arguments the men had. A.N: ARRGHH~ Writer's block and not being a very good writer just don't go together. It took immense concentration to write this chapter out...so many things have been going on this week due to coursework and exams. I love writing but I admit that English Literature is a lot easier for me XDI hope you like this chapter. Who wants this mysterious Myungsoo to turn up in the next chapter? Hehe ^ ^
