Chapter 1 - Consequences (1/1)
< Jessica > Panting down the street, Jessica tried to wonder why life had placed her in another dangerous situation. Struggling to push against the cold winter winds she gripped her mobile phone in one hand and held her skirt down with the other as her long, brown curls violently thrusted with the direction of the wind. Reflecting back to her memory of receiving a desperate phone call from her sister Krystal, her heart had ached from the cries that came from her. Jessica believed that it was fine if her mother dragged her down into her problems but she did not like how her mom had dragged Krystal into her problems as well. Jessica knew for a fact that she could handle her mom's problems, as that was what she had dedicated herself to fix subconsciously for the last 16 years of her life. Jessica wanted Krystal's memories and life to be different from the way she had remembered it, brutal and cruel. Jessica wanted to protect her from the pain and suffering that she had to go through due to her careless and selfish money loving mother. She had been protecting Krystal for all these years from the real identity of her mother. All Krystal knew was what Jessica had convinced to her, that their mother was warm and loving. That was what Krystal saw, a warm and loving mother because she was never exposed to her moms problems. Jessica had always secretly protected Krystal from finding out the truth of their mom, the reality of it. In her heart she prayed that her family would be safe and that she would be saved from completely losing control of her life and from reaching the complete the despairs of life. Nothing could be heard as Jessica reached the street of her house. Her heart pounded and her head throbbed. It felt as if the whole world had stopped revolving and that time had stopped. Until that silence was shattered when a familiar scream and terrified plead could be heard from inside their run-down wooden apartment. Shutting her eyes Jessica let out a relief sigh. Fluttering her eyes open again, she begins to take a determined step towards the echoing cries that inhabited the apartment. Bearing her signature icy stare, she uses this to prepare mentally by blocking all the emotions out of her mind. Jessica begins to take another step and another as she quickens the pace of the next as she starts to sprint towards the apartment. Vilolently pushing the door open, she begins to worriedly scan the room until she could no longer control and keep up her cold false facade. Her terrified eyes had landed on the sight of a familiar figure in the corner of the room. Crouching in the corner was her mother sobbing hysterically whilst she was holding her torn dress against her chest as her mascara continued to smear her face. Her mother's uncontrollable tears kept pouring down from her eyes. Towering above her mom was a seemingly wealthy businessman who was possibly trying to punish her through abuse and any other lowly methods he was aware of. Finding the confidence to stand up to this unfamilar man, Jessica screamed for him to “STOP” “PLEASE STOP”. Using her unique high pitched piercing voice she continued to plead him whilst running to protect her mothers unrecognisable figure due to the treatment of abuse that she had received. "Please stop" Jessica continued to plead as her voice wavered and trembled from the fear that was standing right above her. She was now vunerable and scared but even more determined then ever in her lifetime. The man did seem to not care for Jessica's pleads or show any remorse towards them as he continued to grab and attempt to drag her mother away from your clutches. As she tried to pull her mother away, her ears became aware to the sound of soft muffles as her eyes turned and landed on the sight of her petrified sister, Krystal. Sitting there whilst still holding onto her mother Jessica stared into her sisters glistened eyes and sternly signals her to waitfor her outside. Hesitating for a moment, unsure of this situation she nods and obeys Jessica's orders which brought a wave of relief to her. ' It is going to be okay ' she thought to herself. ' I will make sure that we are going to be okay ' . Quickly turning her eyes away from the spot that Krystal had occupied, her mind began to flash through the vivd images of Krystal's vulnerable and frightened state. Although she couldn't save her sister's innocent child mind from witnessing this scene, she would do everything in her power to save her mother and prevent her sister from experiencing further torment. Blinking back her tears that threatened to fall out her eyes, Jessica thought to herself that she needed to think of a plan quick, if they both were to get out this situation from further harm. Contemplating to herself on how to save her mom again from this unlucky yet fateful situation. Jessica begins to scan the room and yet again her instincts were correct as she spots a set of car keys placed on the side table. Trusting fate yet again with her life, she takes a chance as she pushes the man away from her mother and towards the back wall. Without wasting time Jessica bravely pulled her mom up as she grabbed the man's car key that was placed on the side table. Without hesitation they both ran out through their rusted door as if both of their lives depended on it. Which in reality was partially true. Touching the door handle of the man's luxury car, Jessica instinctively flung the front door open and hurriedly scrambled onto the drivers seat. Obviously at first glance by inspection of any ordinary person, she was far too young to drive, yet she had to ignore the laws and commit another offenceagain because her mom and sister depended on her to save them from her mothers mistakes. Calming her mind with positive thoughts she gripped the steering wheel with both of her hands as she took a chance on fate again.Fate was always unkind and unpredictable to them but it was always fair. Her family may possibly have succeeded in escaping from that abusive businessman but their lives are placed in the hands of Jessica again. They may risk their lives or even die from Jessica's inexperienced driving skills. However, what was more shocking was that Jessica had believed and fully convinced herself that they had nothing to lose. They have lost their dignity, pride and the only place known as home, therefore they were already close to the lowest known point in life, which was the ending of a life, death. To fight her way out of this possible scenaro she had to risk their lives in order to save them. Jessica had to convince life that her family are living for a reason, despite having numerous encounters with near death situations. Jessica believed that they had to experience these hardships and miracurously survived against the odds because they were destined to live in this world. Life wanted them to live. Fate wanted them to live. It was their destiny to live. With the ' nothing to lose ' phrase kept within her fragile state of mind, she took the chance that she hadn't regretted taking at that time. She stepped down onto the accelerating peddle. While driving Jessica took a moment to glance at her mother as she takes notice that this was the worst that she hadbeen beaten. Jessica had always sympathised with her mother but truthly a part of her heart was convinced that she had deserved the torment that she received, to a certain extent. It was her mother's fault in the first place that placed their family in this situation. Her mother's negligence and foolish state of mind had created this irreversible mess. Jessica's mother was a night club bartender at the 'Blue Strings'. Whilst bartending at the night club she was tempted in finding ways to try and get herfamily out of the slump that they were in, if only they had money to support them financially. Even if it meant degrading herself by flirting with any eligible drunk and disgusting wealthy bachelors that her eyes would prey on. It was as if she was a cougar hunting for her next meal. But after numerous bad encounters and wrong decisions with men she still was determined to weave her way into their hearts in order to reach her one goal in life, wealth. Jessica had hated the way her mom treated herself. Her mom did not need to go as low as acting as if she was a night hostess at some run-down hosting place. Their family hadn't exactly reached poverty yet as they have managed to survive for the past 16 years of her life. They weren't that desperate yet, they were survivors. From the sight of her beaten mother, Jessica had recalled all these hurtful memories that she had wanted to forget. Looking back towards the road andback into reality, the sounds of beeping horns could be heard from a distance. This was it. The life and death moment that she knew would come. Jessica may seem composed externally but in truth she was as scared as a kitten in water. She was petrified and she didn't know what to do. A silver sedan was driving towards her as she kept continuing to drive in the wrong lane. Panicking she gripped the wheel tightly with both of her hands as both cars made an instant decision at that point of time to swerve their vehicles towards the opposite of the sides roads. Jessica pushed her foot hard on the brake as her instinct had ordered herself to do this immediately. But it was too late . . . Yet again life had threw her another curve ball to survive, but it was at a deathly cost of another." Give me another chance to redeem myself " x X x So this is my first chapter guys.
