Departure (1/1)

One Year Sunshine94 80670K 2023-11-02

Yoona was shopping with some of her friends while Seunghyun was at work.  Sunny and Yuri couldn’t come because of their spa appointments.  Yoona ended up hitting the mall with Jessica, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon.  Hyoyeon finally made time to go out and rescheduled all of her dance workshops while Tiffany finally hired a babysitter to watch her daughter while she went out for the first time ever since labor.             “Unnie, the black hair color looks good on you,” Yoona complimented Tiffany.             “Oh, thank you.  I have been dying to dye my hair, but because of the pregnancy, I couldn’t,” Tiffany explained.             “So, since Hyoyeon and I had always wanted to check out the new collection for Vera Wang, we will be going there.  Since Yoona and Tiffany want to look through the sale in Chanel, you two will go there.  We will meet up at the Tiffany & Co. in about an hour, okay?” Jessica explained.              “Okay,” the four said together.             The moment they entered the mall, Hyoyeon and Jessica ran into Vera Wang to snatch and purchase the newest things available.  Tiffany and Yoona kept their lady-like composure and walked elegantly to the nearest Chanel store.  Yoona ended up buying a red sleeveless dress for the date that she was going to have with Seunghyun later that night.  Tiffany bought two pairs of shoes:  one was a pair of boots while the other was a pair of heels.  When it was time for lunch, Yoona and Tiffany got a text message from Jessica and Hyoyeon stating that they weren’t going to go to lunch because of the long line due to the unexpected clearance sale in the store.             Tiffany and Yoona bought their food as they started to eat in one of the tables.  Tiffany devoured her food while Yoona ate at a normal pace.             “So, tell me, how’s life as Mrs. Yoona Choi?” Tiffany asked.             “It’s been a rocky and bumpy road,” Yoona laughed, “It’s so weird because I’m married to him, but he didn’t necessarily make me happy our whole marriage.  It’s not like he was abusive or anything, it’s just that he’s changed a lot.  I just find it fascinating that he makes me so angry, but at the same time, my love for him grew significantly.  He made me cry, but he also made me laugh.  Is this normal?”             “I’ve been married for about two years already, and I would like to say that it is normal.  Wooyoung and I get into the stupidest arguments, but at the end of the day, I can honestly say that I love him more.  I think he’s the right one for you,” Tiffany shared with her as she sipped on her cup of soda.            “I know, I think he may be the right one for me,” Yoona agreed.             After the shopping trip, Yoona got ready for their date.  Yoona had been planning this night for the longest time.  She deeply sighed as she opened the door to the mansion.  She was all alone again.  She had two hours until Seunghyun got back from work for their date.  She cleaned up a little around the house since it was the maids’ day off that day.  Yoona then went inside of Seunghyun’s office.  It was surprising that she had never been there.  She opened the big oak doors as she looked around.  It was tidy and organized.  The books were sorted alphabetically and well, everything looked so—exquisite and rich.  Yoona saw that there was a folder on top of the desk and it looked out of place.  She picked it up and was about to stack them with the rest of her folders, but stopped as she saw that one paper managed to slip out and fell to the floor.  She put the folder away and picked up the paper on the floor.  It was in handwriting.               “I have followed your orders to take out the details that you didn’t want on the files.  I took out the detail of you having a choice to whether you wanted Yoona sshi or the baby to survive.  I also added in the file that the baby was killed on the spot to make Yoona sshi more convinced.  I would also like to thank you for the generous donation towards the hospital.  It helped us make a new wing for a children’s center,” Yoona read aloud from the paper.             She quickly put the paper back into the folder and got out of the office.  She gasped desperately for air at the fact that her baby could have survived.  Yoona wanted to cry, but she didn’t want Seunghyun knowing that she had cried.  It was obvious if she cried or not based on the look on her face and Seunghyun was sure to ask why she had cried.  She looked down at herself.  Seunghyun had a choice to whether or not the baby was to survive!  He had a choice of either choosing the baby or herself, and he chose her!  Yoona couldn’t help it.  She tried her best to try to hold back the tears, but she just couldn’t do it.  She started to cry softly to herself.  She then stood up from the floor and took a pen and pencil out of a drawer.             Two hours later, Seunghyun came home to an empty, dark house.  He looked around for Yoona, but he still couldn’t find her.  He quickly concluded that she was still with her friends on that shopping trip they were talking about.  He went into his office as his eyes grew wide to see that the folder was gone.  Instead there was a white paper with Yoona’s handwriting on it.  He dropped his briefcase as he ran to the desk and grabbed the paper. Dear Seunghyun,I’m just going to go straight to the point.  I know about our daughter.  You knew how much the baby meant to me.  You knew that I would rather risk my life than risk the baby’s life.  I packed my bags, took all my belongings, and I left the wedding ring and engagement ring that you bought me on the nightstand next to the bed.  I found out something funny, and you’re going to laugh.  I found out that we’re really not married.  That’s a trip, right?  Your mother called me while I was packing my bags, and she said that she found out that we accepted each other and that she had a confession.  She tried reaching you in your office, but you couldn’t pick up because you were in a meeting.  She planned the whole thing.  She wanted you to leave Hara so bad that she forced this fake marriage on you. She said that she saw the chemistry between the two of us and that this fake marriage was the only way to get you and me to open our eyes to each other.  The woman’s a genius.  Don’t blame her though.  She was right.  She successfully got us both to confess that we love each other. I cried, and she told me that everything was going to be okay because now that we love each other, we can really get married.  I’m sorry, but I’m not ready for all of this.  You hid something from me, and I hid things from you too.  I know that you had a choice and you made the doctor lie to me and you hired someone to spy on me.  I love you, and you love me; I wish it was simple as that, but it’s not.  You need to learn more, and I need to find myself.  I’m sorry I left.  I’ll be back one day. -Yoona             Seunghyun roared loudly as he put the note back onto the desk.  He took off his tie and coat as he drove to Leeteuk’s house.  Once he reached Leeteuk’s house, he knocked on the door eagerly.  The rain had soaked him and he looked desperate for Yoona.  Leeteuk answered the door, and talked to him.             “Leeteuk, I know Yoona’s in there.  I need to talk to her,” Seunghyun pleaded.             “I’m sorry, but she’s not here.  She called us though and she told us that she’s not going to talk to you right now,” Leeteuk was apologetic.             “Please, I just really need to talk to her.  I don’t want to lose her,” Seunghyun pleaded.             “Listen, I’m not lying.  You have my word on this one.  She’s not here, but she did say that she was trying to avoid you, so I guess she didn’t come here because she knew that this was the first place that you would look.  I’m sorry.  She told me everything that happened.  She told me that she’s leaving to another country.  She said she doesn’t know which country, but she’s leaving,” Leeteuk hinted.             “Thank you for telling me that,” Seunghyun said in defeat.              Yoona finally dried her tears as she put down her pen.  It was morning and she was going to leave in the evening.  She was at a hotel room with Jessica.  Her bags were packed and she was set to go.             “Yoona ah, don’t leave us,” Jessica teared.             “I’m not leaving forever.  I’ll be back one day,” Yoona smiled.             “Did you find out which country you wanted to stay in?  I don’t want you hopping on in a plane undecided,” Jessica said as she grabbed a tissue.            “Yeah, I know where exactly I’m going.  Isn’t life so unexpected?  I thought I was Mrs. Choi, but I’m not.  I thought that the baby died on the spot, but she didn’t.  There was a decision and Seunghyun made a choice to save me instead,” Yoona stated, “Jessica, I have something to confess to you.  I have never told anyone this, only Siwon knows.”             “He knows something that I don’t know?!” Jessica yelled.             “Yes, and I think it’s the right time to explain it to you,” Yoona said.             “Just tell me,” Jessica ordered.             “Well, I’m not leaving because I don’t love Seunghyun anymore.  I really do love him; it’s just that I want to love him to the fullest.  I can’t right now because I still haven’t fulfilled my dreams yet.  From the first day I told him that I loved him and he told me that he loves me, I was already planning on leaving after the year was over.  I didn’t want to tell Seunghyun because I wanted him to be able to understand it on his own.  I showed him all my love because I didn’t want to ruin the rest of our days together.  I’m selfish, I know, but that was the best thing I could think of doing.  Even if the baby was still alive, I would have still left—but not to another country.  I would just leave him to see if he really loved me.  I wanted him to chase after me when I left him, but now that the baby was gone, the plans changed.  I’m saying that even if I didn’t find out about the baby dying because he chose my life, I would still have left.  It’s complicated,” Yoona confessed.             “Why would you tell this to Siwon?” Jessica asked.             “I told Siwon because from the first time I visited him, I told him that I was falling in love with Seunghyun.  He understood that I loved him, but he was kind of angry because Seunghyun was still in love with Hara at that time.  He proposed a plan to pretend that he and I were going to get married after the divorce with Seunghyun.  He pretended that he still loved me in that way.  Did I tell you?  He’s getting married to another woman.  He even bought an engagement ring for her too.  We pretended to be in love just for one reason:  to see if Seunghyun cared, and he did,” Yoona admitted.             “Whoa, your love life is so epic,” Jessica muttered.             “Honestly, I would rather have one that’s simple rather than have it as complicated as this.  It really does get you really tired,” Yoona said.            “Hm, if I was you, I would stay with Seunghyun—or at least you should explain to him why you’re going to leave and tell him that you want him to wait for you.  Isn’t that a little selfish of you, Yoona?” Jessica asked.             “Yes, it is selfish of me to leave without an explanation, but whatever happens will happen.  I don’t want to tell him to wait for me because I don’t want him burdened.  For all I could know, I could be gone for ten years.  I don’t know when I’ll be back.  If he meets someone special while I’m gone, then I guess I’m not the right person for him,” Yoona slowly said.             “Hm, just don’t go crying to me if he starts seeing another woman while you’re gone.  Boys will be boys,” Jessica warned.             “If he loves me, he’ll wait, but right now, I need to focus on myself.  I can’t believe I’m saying that.  I’m actually caring for myself now.  I’m finally doing what I want,” Yoona smiled at herself.             Jessica had to leave the hotel room for work as she said her final goodbyes to her best friend.  She hugged her tightly and promised to call her and to webcam with her whenever they were free.  Jessica also promised that she would visit her whenever she had time.  Yoona nodded in agreement.  Soon Yoona got a text message from Eunhyuk. Park Eunhyuk:  Yoona ah, are you sure you want to go on with this plan of yours?Park Yoona:  Of course, oppa.Park Eunhyuk:  I wanted to let you know that Seunghyun went looking for you.  I accidently told him that you were leaving the country, and he yelled that he gives up.  I’m sorry I told.Park Yoona:  It’s okay.  I’m going to go now.  I’ll call you guys when the plane lands.             Yoona stared at the screen.  He gave up on her.  Yoona felt a tear drop escape from the corner of her left eye.  She quickly wiped it away.  She tried to smile through her tears as she began to get ready for her departure.  If he was giving up on her, it was okay.  It only showed that he just wasn’t ready for her.  Yoona thought that he loved her so much that he wouldn’t be the type that would give up, Yoona guessed wrong.  She already warned herself not to expect too much from a guy.  She wiped away her tears.  She told herself that she’s not going to cry anymore.  She’s going to be happy from now on.  She grabbed her luggage and headed to a cab that was waiting for her.             When she reached the airport, she was informed that the private jet that her brother had provided for her was going to be ready in about thirty minutes.  Yoona waited in the private lobby all alone.  She waited and waited some more.  She wanted Seunghyun to burst through the door.  She wanted him to tell her that he loves her, but Yoona knew that it was impossible.  He told her whole family that he had given up on her.  She looked down at her luggage as she looked through her phone.  She received over twenty messages from everyone wishing her a safe trip, but not one was from Seunghyun.  She felt the locket around her neck.  She remembered when Minsun had given it to her.  She opened the locket and saw a picture of Seunghyun and a picture of her.  She was about to return it to Seunghyun, but it was just too precious to her.  It was the only reminder of what she had with him.  She let go of the locket as it hung around her neck.  She saw a staff member of the airport approach her as she informed her that the private jet was ready.  She looked at the door once more—no one was coming.  She turned her back towards the door and walked to the private jet.  She buttoned her coat as she exited the building to the port.  It was kind of cold and she hugged her coat even tighter as staff members began to load her luggage for her trip.  She saw the stairs of the jet unfold waiting for her to walk on them so she can get in.  She took her first step on the stairs as she used the railings of the stairway for support.             “Goodbye, Seoul,” she whispered under her breath.             “You didn’t even say goodbye to me,” she heard a voice break out.             She smiled happily to see that Seunghyun was standing there before her.  He was panting as if he had just run a marathon.  He approached her slowly as her heartbeat quickened.  She couldn’t believe she was saying goodbye to this.  She was saying goodbye to the man of her dreams.  She looked down at herself as he stood there before her.             “Yoona, why are you leaving?  I thought we were happy,” Seunghyun muttered.             “I was—well I am happy with what I have with you, but I was rushed into being with you.  I still have many things that I want to do.  I want to have a career and everything.  I’m not leaving because I’m angry at you for choosing me over the baby,” Yoona assured him.             “Why can’t you see that I chose you over the baby because—well, I can’t think how I would be able to function without you.  You tamed the beast in me.  Just please don’t leave me,” Seunghyun pleaded.             “In that one year, you made me cry, scream laugh, and smile, but most of all, you made me fall in love with you,” Yoona stated, “I can’t believe that I’m leaving, but I really believe that it’s for the best.  I lived my whole life under someone.  I lived under what Leeteuk told me what to do, and when that was over, I lived under you.  I want to make a name for myself.  This must be done.”             “I can help you do whatever you want.  Just stay with me,” Seunghyun offered desperately.             “I need to this on my own,” Yoona smiled, “I know you can live without me.  You’re a strong man.  You’re powerful, and you don’t need a spoiled heiress telling you what to do.”             “Will you ever come back?” Seunghyun finally asked.             Yoona nodded slowly, “Of course I’ll come back.  I can’t resist living the rest of my life without you.”             “I thought that you ‘give up’ on me,” Yoona added.                      “I tried, but I don’t know why but I ended up coming here to see you.  I really can’t resist saying goodbye to you.  I really love you, Yoona,” he told her.             Yoona reached inside her coat and pulled out a white envelope with a golden seal.  Yoona smiled as she pulled it out.  Little tear drops escaped the corners of her eyes as she handed it to Seunghyun.  Seunghyun looked at her with disbelief.  It looked like a letter.             “I wanted to tell you that the relationship between Siwon and I was completely illegitimate.  We faked it to make you jealous.  I feel horrible.  He’s really in love with someone else.  He’s already proposed to her and bought her an engagement ring,” Yoona confessed to him.             “Oh, that was the ring that he showed you,” he uttered lowly.             “What?” Yoona asked.             “Nothing, it’s just that I can’t believe that you’re really leaving,” Seunghyun changed the subject.             “Miss Yoona, the jet is ready to leave!” the pilot yelled out from the jet.             “Just give me a few more minutes.  I’ll be there shortly,” Yoona promised him.             Seunghyun laughed to himself.  It was ironic that when he finally loved her, she was leaving.              “Seunghyun, I just want you to read that letter.  Every word in that letter came from my heart.  I really do love you, and I hope that you accept me leaving,” Yoona said.             “I understand.  If you’re going to be happier fulfilling your goals on your own, I understand.  I just wanted you to know, Park Yoona, that I really love you and you’re the only woman for me.  When you come back, I’ll be here,” Seunghyun promised.             Yoona reached up and gave him a final kiss.  Seunghyun held her gently during the kiss.  It was going to be their only kiss for a long time, so Seunghyun decided to cherish every single second.  The kiss soon ended as Yoona got off her tiptoes and gave him an uplifting smile.             “I’ll be back for you, Choi Seunghyun.  I’m going to make you a very happy man when I return,” she pledged as she got on the jet.             Seunghyun smiled brightly at his bride.  Even if they weren’t legally married, it was okay.  She treated him just like how a good wife would treat a husband.  He saw her waving through the window as the jet flew off to the sky.  He wasn’t sad or angry that she left.  He had a good one year with her, and in a few years, he was going to have decades of his life with her.    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A/N:  Boo, I’m so sad she left, but it has to be done. :)One final chapter after this! :(I really love this story, and I can’t believe I’m going to say goodbye!  I’m already working on "Summer In Seoul"! :)
