You (Daehyuns Past IV) (1/1)

Daehyun stops. He can’t chase the fallen gods to the Underground. One step in there will corrupt him. He ponders about what he should do and decides to go back to the upper realms of the Underworld. He can ask the goddess of Death for an advice or something. He maneuvers his horse to turn back when he notices a living in the Underworld. He thinks about the sermons he will receive from the goddess of death and the Divine Order, and decides to get off the horse and approaches the mortal.“Are you lost?” He asks. The mortal jumps, startled at his sudden presence.“Uh…yes.”Daehyun sighs. “Follow me.”The mortal nods and Daehyun takes his horse back.“That’s a ghastly-looking horse you have there,” the mortal says.“Yes,” Daehyun answers calmly, with some hints of irritation. It’s a long walk back to the Central Plains and the human has not stopped asking him questions.“Are you Death?”“No.”“But you’re wearing all black, and your face is covered.”“I’m a warrior.”“Oh?”“Yes. Wait--- you can see me?!?!”The mortal nods.“How?”“Why not? You just said you’re a warrior.”“Ah, right…” he sighs inwardly.“Here we are!” He says, victoriously, after some time. The mortal breathes in deeply, and starts to approach him. He watches her, confused. She can still see me?“Thank you for bringing me back!” She says, smilingly, and gently places a kiss on his mask. Daehyun is shocked.“I was beginning to think that I’ll be stuck there forever!”Daehyun looks around. This is his first time being in the Central Plains (mortal world) and also his first time meeting a human this close.“Follow me, I will treat you out as thanks,” she says and takes him by the hand. Is this okay? Daehyun questions himself. The Heavens ordered him to destroy all of the corrupted gods, and he hasn’t destroyed them all, so he reasons he should stick around for a while.“Ta-dah! Here we are!” She says, and points to a temple. “I’m studying to become a priestess here.”The shrine of the god of war, huh?He follows her and she prepares a basin with water and cleansing oil. “Please clean yourself with this.”He accepts it, but he remains still. Can I really accept this? He asks himself again. The mortal notices his hesitation and walks to him, smiling.“Let me help you,” she says and removes the armor on his head. She gasps, and reaches for his face. “You’re beautiful.”
