Black Rose Minjeong woke up alone after a nap. She stretched her arm out across the left side of the bed and tried to feel Jimin's presence just in case she's still dreaming. Nothing. Jimin's side of the bed is empty and it is neatly kept. She gets out of bed and fixed it just the way Jimin likes. After making up the bed, she checked the bathroom to see if her girlfriend was there but as she opened the door she was met by the white shower curtains and cold tiled floor.  Calling out Jimin's name as she closed their bedroom door she then was greeted by the empty living room. Walking to the refrigerator to get a glass of water Minjeong noticed a post-it note carefully placed on its door. The note read, "Will be back at around 6pm, just out for some grocery". And with that Minjeong was reminded that it was Sunday so that means it's time to restock their fridge and other food supplies. Minjeong face palmed herself as it finally sink into her that she have overslept and that's why Jimin is doing the grocery by herself and she is left alone in their apartment. Finally acknowledging that there's nothing more to do at the moment, she grabbed an apple and a glass of water then sat on the couch to watch TV. A couple of minutes passed by and she still hasn't found a program that she has interest in. So there she was sitting lazily as she scrolled through the channels. At last she decided to put the remote down and watch the Discovery Channel. The program that they are running is a documentary about the case of someone named Patty Hearst. And to Minjeong documentaries are way better than the sci-fi movies that are currently playing on the other channels. After the one hour program has ended Minjeong picked up the remote and clicked the TV off. As she stare into the black screen in front of her she sat there dazed and confused about what in the world she just watched. The information that she just saw and accumulated is driving her mind crazy. Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response. It occurs when hostages or abuse victims bond with their captors or abusers. No it can't be, Minjeong tells herself. She and Jimin has been living just fine. It's not like Jimin has her tied up in a chair or something. "And what? Get tied up in a leash like Minjeong?" Mark's voice from the night that she punched him echoed in her mind. She shook her head no and tells herself that it's just coincidence. Stockholm syndrome a coping mechanism, or a way to help victims handle the trauma of a terrifying situation. Trauma? She can't even remember having experienced that or having one with the time that she has been with Jimin. Research has shown that individuals may develop emotional attachments to their abuser. Abuser? Jimin has never even laid a hand on her in the years that they have been together. Maybe it's just coincidence she thought again because thinking about these things is sending her into a frenzy. There are different types of abuse: sexual, physical, mental, emotional etc. Physical abuse? Never. Sexual abuse? Jimin has never forced her to do something that she isn't comfortable with. Mental abuse? She isn't sure. Emotional abuse? She doesn't know. All these questions are now piling up on Minjeong's mind. She's trying to calm herself down by taking slow and even breaths trying to convince herself that she's fine, Jimin is fine and their relationship is going just fine. It's nothing like the one that the documentary has presen
