In Quarrel Circles (1/1)

“What? I thought these came from you?” She asked again. The boy on the other line didn’t say a word. Tiffany had this sense that her fiancée was not even kidding, she knew that the conversation wouldn’t go well after she asked about the flowers. Knowing how jealous Siwon would get if there were other competitions even after them getting engaged. “I’m kind of tired, maybe let’s talk tomorrow.” Siwon said as if he wasn’t engrossed in hearing Tiffany’s voice few minutes ago. “So are we going to argue about this again?” she stepped up, not wanting another petty problem unresolved by end of day. Siwon would be playing his pride games if she doesn’t initiate to talk about it right now. “I’m not the one who has a problem here. I clearly don’t know about you.” Siwon spat sarcastically. “Are you trying to point out that I’m cheating on you?” Tiffany didn’t like the sound of Siwon’s argument. If only the mysterious admirer would just show up and present himself, they wouldn’t be having this heated discussion over the phone and them being miles apart which makes it harder for the both of them. “Why? Is there a reason for me to doubt?” He snaps back hearing Tiffany’s raise a voice at him. “I don’t like they way you are talking to me. As if I’m not your fiancée. Siwon do we have a problem?”  “Yes, we have, just three minutes ago. Or was it just three minutes ago? Maybe months? What? I don’t know.” Siwon spoke these words like he really meant it. “Siwon why are you like this? Are you saying that I’m cheating on you? I don’t like the tone of your voice.” she snaps at him. Tiffany didn’t like the tone of conversation and Siwon’s fearless assumptions at her. “Well, how should I know? Shouldn’t you ask yourself that?” He shows no sign of setbacks from what he assumed. Siwon is fuming angry at one guy he knew that would only do this, he was so frustrated of everything including his fiancé, who just got into the issue of having a third party. “Aren’t you tired?” she asks. “Tired of what? I don’t even want to begin explaining myself to you Tiffany. You don’t like what you’ll hear from me.”  He went from being Siwon to an angry lover over the phone line. His words hit the woman so hard, he started hearing sobs from the other end. “So is it me again? I’m the bad guy here again? If you want me to say it then, I’ll say it! I’m tired! I’m tired that every time we have problems like this I would give up myself and just go on like nothing happened! I’m freaking tired Tiffany. If that’s one word you want to hear from me.” His voice dominated the conversation and Tiffany could only cry harder. She didn’t think of Siwon being this mad at her. He has reasons but he just shattered the poor girl’s heart into pieces. “Maybe, just maybe you’re tired of me too? Right? If you’re tired of me, then there’s no reason having this relationship anymore. Don’t waste time now. I know you have reasons for having that other guy and—“ “Why is it so damn easy for you to say this!” Tiffany broke her silence because she couldn’t take what was Siwon saying all this time. His words were adding salt to her already open wounds, and that her prince charming just turned into a selfish beast that she never really knew. “You should ask yourself Tiffany. Why is it damn easy for me to say this? All this time, I’ve been trying to be the best guy for you. I thought I am but it turns out I’m not.” Siwon didn’t even give her the chance to speak up. A dropped call tone was heard just when she was about to say something. *** “Siwon, hey.” A hand tapped his shoulder bringing him back to reality. “Oh, I’m sorry.” His head hung low. It has been days since that fight over the phone. None of them took initiative to talk, but the longer it gets, the deeper the unseen wound for the both of them goes. Siwon’s manager looked at him curiously, one thing that got him thinking is that Siwon was not his usual happy self during filming. “Are you alright? The director says he needs a few more shots of you. Turns out that your previous takes weren’t good enough.” His manager explains, Siwon nodded and he was still wordless. “Maybe you need a few days off. Do you want me to tell the production? I can book you a flight tonight if you want to.” He did not respond. Siwon remained there seated, staring in blank space. He hated himself after that phone call, but he also hated the fact that Tiffany harbored another in her heart other than him. There was no accurate evidence but he jumped into a conclusion that he thought was right. “It’s okay Teddy. No need to book a flight, I’ll finish the filming as soon as I can so we can go back soon, too. I don’t want to be the cause of delay here.” Siwon gathered his things and gave it to his personal assistant on the set. He straightens up the small creases in his suit and walked up to the director like nothing happened. *** She was left alone in their dorms. Unlike the usual days when she’s free, she would text him first thing in the morning and begs him to spend the rest of the day in his unit or maybe visit his parents in their Incheon home. Now it feels like her heart is being ripped into a thousand pieces. They fought, and for the record, this has been the longest that they haven’t talked to each other. What made her more hopeless is that Siwon is a thousand miles apart from her. There’s no way she could go to his unit and ambush him with her apologies and the real account of what happened, but no. There was nothing she could do but wait. Or was she really waiting for something? “Ah, finally home!” just when a tear from her swollen eyes was about to fall, her maknaes invaded her space and threw their tired bodies on the other side of the couch. Tiffany stared at them with jealousy. She wished she was as busy as them, that way she could forget about Siwon, even just for a while because right now, all that is running in her head is the image of him giving up on them. “Fany, did you have dinner already?” Taeyeon asks as she closed the unit’s door. Tiffany did not answer and just continued her business of staring at Sooyoung and Yoona lying on the bed with their eyes closed. “Hey, pinkhead! Taeyeon’s asking you if you had dinner already. A reply would be great!” Jessica threw a wobbly and aimed a pillow to pull back her sister to reality. She turned her head to the direction of the two, tears forming at the corner of her eyes that were red and swollen. God knows how many sleepless nights she spent, waiting on him, thinking and worrying about what could happen the next few days. “Tiffany, please. Give yourself a break.” Taeyeon shared her sister’s pain. At times, she wanted to hate Siwon for bringing Tiffany into the ruckus of having a relationship, but in the end, that’s how love goes right? You make sacrifices for each other to prove that you’re willing to do everything to make it work. Yet, Taeyeon can’t stand every time she hears Tiffany sobs against the adjacent wall to her room. She’s a fragile girl, and she doesn’t deserve to be in much pain when she gives her all to Siwon. Too late, the girl shed her tears just as when Jessica tugged her in a comforting embrace. *** The filming concluded an hour earlier than the expected time. Everyone was busy packing up the set, Siwon decided to call it a day. He steps inside the van and loosens his tie. His manager followed suit, stowing his things on the backseat of the van. It only took him 4 hours to finish the filming but Siwon but it felt like a 10-hour run of acting. He never felt that tired before, now all he wants is to crash into his hotel bed and sleep the whole evening off. He leaned comfortably on the car seat, a minute or two he will surely doze off because his eyes can barely stay open. Siwon set himself to sleep, but his ringing phone stopped him from getting that prized forty winks. Annoyed, he took the phone out of his pocket. He rarely checks it now, not like before that he would almost handcuff it to his right hand or cuddle it next to him in sleep because he would always feel giddy about reading Tiffany’s messages or her calls. He unlocks the phone to answer the call, he tries to ignore the wallpaper of them all lovey-dovey and careless of what the world may bring, that served as a reminder of how long it has been. “Hello?” he said not even thinking of who the caller was. “Siwon, it’s your father.” The next place he knew he was in was not his bed, nor his hotel room. It was in a posh café in Beihai and he was sitting across a man who was waiting for some serious answers from him. They sat in silence, but Siwon felt the pressure of having this man around. “If it wasn’t for your mother who visited Tiffany yesterday, we wouldn’t know that you have this kind of situation.” His father lectures him. Siwon kept his eyes away from him, he was afraid but then he was too stubborn to give him clear answers. If there were such, because he knows, all he has are speculations. “Are you out of your mind? What made you do this to her? That girl, she considers you as her only family in Korea. How would you think she could do that to you? Could she risk something very dear to her? A family? She treated you more than that and yet you doubted everything in one single mistake that she didn’t even do!” Siwon’s dad almost slammed the table from pent up anger. His son wanted to walk away, it was not a good time to deal with this, but it was the painful truth. Running away won’t solve anything, and it would only leave him scars if later he realizes that his stupid pride cost him his reason for living. “I want you to go home and fix this.” His dad wasn’t satisfied of the meeting, thus telling his son to go home and clean up his mess. “Dad…” “You’re a grown man, you should think. I don’t want you to suffer from the hasty decisions you are making right now because I’m telling you, this won’t go somewhere good.” -----------------------------------A/N: Updated after 'x' number of years kekekeke
