Chapter 2. The presence (1/2)
He felt peaceful. Exhausted, thirsty, and hungry… but at peace. He felt the change as soon as he opened his eyes. The pain was gone and his body could rest. With a small smile, he just laid in his hospital bed, watching the branches of the tree in front of his window moving. He heard the door slide open and turned his head towards the intruder.
“Kyungsoo?” The nurse was surprised to see the boy awake and without any screaming.
“Minseok hyung” he greeted the nurse with a soft smile. He knew the male nurse from his visits when he came to see his mother. Minseok was four years older than him and had just graduated from his three years in med school.
Minseok came to his bed still not believing the sudden change. They had to sedate the young boy again just last night. He checked Kyungsoo’s pulse while he kept eyeing him.
Kyungsoo had to laugh at Minseok’s expression.
“I am fine Hyung, I swear. I woke up and the pain was gone!” He explained.
His gaze fell to his hands and he lifted them sending Minseok a pleading look. Minseok followed the gesture and looked uncertain.
“Do you promise you are okay now? You won’t do anything stupid?”
He received an eager nod.
With a sigh, he started to open the restraining bandages around Kyungsoo’s wrists.
Kyungsoo rubbed them happily when he was freed.
The door behind them opened. Mrs. Do stopped and stared at the two men trying to understand what was happening.
