His Challenge (1/1)

Myungsoo POV: I gazed out the grand window overlooking the eerie forest below, a half-filled wine glass resting between my fingers. I lifted it to my lips and took a small sip, just enough for the scarlet substance to slither between the crevices of my tastebuds. Swirling the cup around, I watched as the liquid clutched onto the walls of the glass, only to be slowly dragged back down to the bottom by gravity. I narrowed my eyes..."It's like you... Once you're in...there's no way to escape..." I spoke softly before turning back to the window. "So...I am the prey, you say?" The glass shattered with a pop in my grip like it was made of sugar; the blood oozed between my fingers, coating them in a haunting red. I raised my appendages to my lips and licked the aromatic substance off of my skin as the corners of my lips curled up into a small smile. "Interesting..."  I looked up at the heavens, at the wane moon hovering in the star-speckled sky. Through my eyes, it glowed a gruesome red, bathing everything in an eerie light. It sat like a reminder of the fate of our kind...Tonight, however, it's visage appeared even more lambent than usual...Heh, of course it would be... A nightwalker had returned to the Earth... "Master," a voice interrupted my thoughts. I flashed the maid a dangerous glare before replying in a cool voice,"What is it?""Y-Your dinner is ready..." she replied, her vice shaking with fear. She probably had a glimpse of my aura...how bothersome. I sighed. This was why I didn't want to hire a dhampir...They may be half vamires, but they held a greater fear towards us than the humans did...which did come in handy occasionally, I had to admit; but, the fact that they couldn't even talk in a straight voice annoyed the hell out of me."Very well," I said. "Clean this up." I gestured to the broken glass and blood on the floor before making my way to the dining hall. As I walked down the corridors, every able being froze in their tracks and bowed low, acknowledging my authoritative presence."Young Master," they murmured as I passed. I paid them no heed. They were mere servants.Mere lowly vampires and half-breeds. I stopped. The maids standing before the grand doors bowed to me."Young Master," they said in unison. Each, grasping an elaborate handle, pulled the doors open. I stepped into the room and they closed the door behind me, bolting it shut. The dining hall was a grand room lit by numerous candles, giving it a warm, golden glow. The autumn colour palette of the interior contrasted the dark sky depicted through the numerous glass windows lining the top half of the walls. I looked around the empty room and quickly spotted a figure tucked into a dark corner. That's right.Empty.There was no grand dining table; no intricately carved chairs; no flowers or any other arrangements of decoration. It was merely empty. After all, what would a vampire do with such useless objects that just took up space? My eyes locked on the being in the corner. I took a whiff and sighed as my pupils dilated, irises flushing a vibrant shade of red. I parted my lips slightly, letting my fangs elongate from the bloodlust that crept into my body. How long had it been since my last meal?I couldn't remember. I slowly approached the figure. I could basically smell the fear radiating from the human; it was evident in its blood. We made eye contact and I saw that it was a young girl with large doe eyes and pale skin. Her face was streaked with tears and tremors racked her thin frame."Good evening," I said, kneeling down before her. She shimmied further back into the corner, seeking safety in the unyielding walls; they merely stood their ground like soldiers on duty, showing her no signs of comfort. Smirking, I reached out a hand. She greeted it with an earpiercing scream and bolted for the door. I watched her with a slightly amused expression, especially once she discovered that they were locked from outside. She whirled around and stared at me with terror-filled eyes. I stood up."P-Please j-just let me g-go..." she stammered. My smirk faded back into a stoic expression."I have waited many weeks for a proper meal and I am exceptionally thirsty from changing someone," I replied and approached her again. She tried to run, but I effortlessly caught up to her. She screamed and struggled in my grasp, but that did not faze me from plunging my fangs deep into her neck. I drank and drank until my stomach was filled with warm blood and the body in my hands was drained. I straightened up and looked at the girl distastefully."No comparison..." I said coldly to the limp carcass. I licked my lips, yearning for the taste of her blood. The maids came into the hall and cleaned up the mess. They bowed to me and retreated, taking the dead girl with them. I looked out the windows at the moon again."You say I am the prey...My apologies, but I will never allow myself to be the prey...the hunted. I have always been the hunter, I am the hunter, and I will forever remain the hunter...Heh, two hunters...The balance is tipped...We shall see where this leads, won't we...Linh-ah?" _________________________________OMO MIANHE EVERYONE WHO HASN'T GIVEN UP ON THIS STORY YET  DXI AM SUCH A BAD AUTHOR!!!!!!!!!! m(___       ___)mSCHOOL HAS BEEN HECTIC, SO I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO WRITE IN AGES...IT'S KILLING ME TOO, PEOPLE...NOT BEING ABLE TO WRITE IS LIKE THE WORST THING EVAAARRRRRRRRR (TTATT)BRICK ME IF YOU WANT [I DESERVE IT >.>]...BUT BE WARNED THAT I WILL BRICK YOU BACKXD HAHAHAHAHAHAHA NAWWWWWWWWWWWW KIDDAAAAAANG (-_^) THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO IS STILL STICKING TO THIS FIC^^ I LOOOOOOOVE YOU ALL!!!*DROWNS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU IN NAMGREASE HEARTS* <3 <3 <3  Comments/Subscriptions = Faster Updates \(^-^)/ <3
