Waiting. Above all things, you hate waiting the most. Especially tonight because it’s your birthday and your boyfriend asked you out on a date but here you are, waiting. Again. Who keeps a girl waiting, right? Oppa. Where the hell are you?Sent: 8:25 pm “That’s the third message I’ve sent him tonight. Just wait ‘till I get my hands on you. Aish! You… on my birthday, too!” You cursed at your phone. You waited for another five minutes until you finally stood up from your porch to make your way back inside the house. “What’s new anyways,” you sighed to yourself, “it’s not like it’s the first time you got stood up by your own boyfriend, Haeyoung.” Just as you were about to get in, you heard a car honk from behind you. You turned to see a familiar red mini cooper rolling its windows down to reveal Maru’s attractive features.“Hey, Seo Haeyoung. Don’t you turn your back on me now.” He smiled. You fought back the urge to smile back because he’s just so damn gorgeous and you wanted to show him that you’re upset because he was thirty minutes late, after all. Well, you still are, though. “Kang Maru. You said eight ‘o’clock.” you snapped. He got down from the car before walking towards you to perk your eyebrows up from the frown you were giving him and said, “I’m sorry, okay? And can we not think about it for the rest of the night? It’s my girl’s birthday, after all. Let’s not spoil it.” he kissed your forehead. You remained silent as you let him tug you to his car by your hand while you thought about how that “my girl” tactic would always put you back in a good mood. This one, however, doesn’t seem to work its wonders tonight. It doesn’t seem to work a lot these days, either. There’s something missing… it actually feels a little… empty. Oh, well.----“Seriously, this kid is really something.” Kyungsoo mumbled to himself as he set down his iPad mini and headset to get a last sip from his frappe. He had been waiting for his flirting best friend talking with the female barista behind the counter of the café they’ve been staying at since an hour ago, so he watched a one-hour movie instead. He glanced at his watch and called out to him, “Hey, Kim Jongin. Are we not leaving yet? Your sister’s gonna kill me if you’re not back by nine.”The younger smiled back while waving his hand at him and said, “Alright, alright. I’m coming.” Before flashing the barista a last smirk and walked towards his hyung.“About time he looked up from that darn thing. I thought he wasn’t gonna notice me all night.” Jongin thought.“Is she a working student? She better be older than you. I don’t want you breaking another younger girl’s heart. You’re really gonna get it this time if you do that.” Kyungsoo retorted as he began shoving his things into his bag. Jongin scoffed and replied, “What do you take me for, a Casanova?” Kyungsoo looked at him and simply gave him a nod. The younger laughed and said, “I’m not a player. Why ask about that, anyways? Jealous? Don’t worry, you know I love you the most, Do Kyungsoo.” Kyungsoo snorted and shook his head before making his way to the door. “Whatever. Let’s get you home, kid.” He said as he ruffled his hair.Jongin, on the other hand, watched him go first from inside and huffed under his breath, “And I hope you really do know that, Kyung-ah.”As if he hearing him, Kyungsoo turned to Jongin and gestured for him to hurry out and watched him as he followed. “Why were you standing there like an idiot?” He chuckled as Jongin got nearer. “Umm, besides being an idiot like you said, I was admiring the view of that guy tugging at his girlfriend’s hand behind you a few moments ago. Come on, let’s go home.” The younger chuckled back as he slung his free arm around his hyung’s small pair of shoulders and started walking home.----After a silent car ride except for a little music from the radio, you finally arrived at a familiar café and got off the car, saving yourself from that suffocating ride. Maru took your hand, keeping it warm against the cold November air and started walking to the café’s entrance. “Are you still mad, Young-ah?” he asked. You calmed yourself (in which you’re incredibly good at) and decided to forget about his three-in-a-row late date appearances so as not to ruin the night. Maru’s right: it’s your birthday, after all. After watching the two guys walking from afar as you thought for a while, you flashed Maru a small smile and said, “Let’s just keep the smiles on for the rest of the night, okay?” Maru smiled back rather casually after putting his arm around your waist and replied, “This smile’s for my girl.” Ugh. Nope. Still empty.
