CHAPTER ONESON NAEUN  The Blue House of South Korea is the place where all the top-notch politician of South Korea gathered, the place where the Presidents of South Korea do the duties for the beloved country, the place where many people wanted to be part of it, one of it, just like how my father’s ambition to be a part of The Blue House’s family someday in the future. Unfortunately, because of his lack of health or something like that, he made me choose this path.  The path he wanted me to step into someday, and now somehow he successfully opened those gates for me. Starting this summer holiday, I could guarantee my life would be change anytime soon because I got this internship my father worked for. Like America got the Kennedy’s clan nailing the politic world, South Korea got the similar clan called the Kim’s clan, I got this internship in the Kim’s clan office as the communication campaign member for the next election for Gyeonggi province’s governor.  The Kim’s clan is South Korea’s renowned politician clan where almost half of its members worked their arse off in the politic career. Their biggest achievements so far are to get Kim Joowon become the now served Vice President and Mister Vice President’s older brother, Kim Joongwon, served as the now Prime Minister for the President. They were invincible; the two brothers got the highest position on South Korea’s politic careers. I have to admit that I admired their work ethics to achieve what’s deserved for them.  As the next election for the Gyeonggi province’s governor getting nearer, The Kim’s clan office opened their yearly internship for college students majored in Politic Science. I am not majored in Politic Science, I am a Communication Science student and fortunately they accepted my application and placed me on their communication campaign member. I am glad I got the internship since this is the least thing I could do for my sick father at home. When I told him I got the internship, he was excited and happy. For almost three years, he kept telling me to apply for the internship and now I’ve got it, I could make him proud of me.  “Interns, please come this way.”  The perky sounds and too-much-perfumed woman awoke me from my current day dreaming. With a deep sigh, I grab my backpack and sling it over my shoulder. I don’t really care if they found my outfits funny—I wore a crème colored satin blouse tucked neatly over knee length olive green pencil skirt that hugged my thighs perfectly and a pair of open peed toe black stiletto; I just wanted to get over with it and start to work with the campaign members. I hated things what they called orientation.  Yes, they made it for our purpose to get to know with the field we’re going to work with but still, I found it not necessary since we’re going to work with the real people mastered within the fields. Why they have to have it and what’s the purpose for us—the interns—do the orientation while we’re all know that it was only temporary?  “This is the room where all the campaign members for The Kim’s clan usually gathered and brain-storming if we don’t have any work,” Lee Hyorin—our supervisor—led us into a huge room decorated with a huge old oak table rounded the room. In the end of the room, there is another door that leads into storage or files room where all the information, collage and everything related to The Kim’s clan saved. “The interns will work in here while we’re going to discuss the campaign plans, strategies and tactics for Mr. Kim Jongdae’s upcoming Gyeonggi province’s governor election. If Mr. Kim Jongdae won the election, he will get another title because he will be the youngest governor ever in South Korea’s politic history. He’s just having his 31st birthday party last week and as you all probably know, Mr. Kim Jongdae is the oldest son of our Mr. Vice President so I expect you all to mind all of your attitude and language around here.”  Hyorin went around the table and take the seat at the end of the table before instructed all the interns to sit down, “You won’t meet Mr. Kim Jongdae in person because he’s a very busy man, but all the instructions coming for you interns coming directly from the teams’ brain-storming with Mr. Kim Jongdae himself. Mr. Kim Jongdae welcomed all of you into the team and expected all of the interns showing their interest in politics. He also wanted all of the interns to work professionally. No talks related to the campaign’s strategy outside the house even with your own family. No exceptions, if I happen to hear nosy interns, you will meet with the security teams right away and expect to find it hard getting job in politic career because of your tainted name for the rest of your life.”  I can’t help but cringed nervously with the thought of Kim’s clan’s power to make us shines or slumps. It is only the five of us—three young men and two women included me, the chosen interns to work under Kim’s clan wings. Hyorin kept talking about the regulations while I let my eyes roamed around the room, sweeping all the furniture, decorations and everything my eyes could catch on until I spotted the huge family portrait of living Kim’s clan. They were mainly dominated by men. No wonder the Kim’s clan legacy still running until now.  “I have no idea they still have the young Kims in training,” Kim Namjoo—the other female intern—whispered into my ear as our eyes locked on the huge family portrait. She must be eyeing me for quite times until she got this idea of her about me thinking about the clan.  I was frowning and staring at her in confusions, I am not that familiar with the Kim’s clan. I just know they ruled South Korea’s politic career just like the Kennedy’s clan in America. “What do you mean?”  Namjoo eyes widened and she smiled sheepishly before turned her head back into the huge family’s portrait. She seemed nice the way she greeted me first despite our first meeting. I am not good in socializations among new atmosphere or new people; I am that kind of girl what you called awkward. Yes, I am awkward.  “The young Kims or I could say the young Kim brothers,” Namjoo continued, still whispering in hushed toned, afraid that Hyorin could catches her—us, “Look, Mr. Prime Minister and Mr. Vice President are sibling—the old Kim brothers. Mr. Prime Minister, the oldest sibling, has an only child, Kim Myungsoo while Mr. Vice President, the younger sibling, has two children, the oldest is Mr. Kim Jongdae—the soon-to-be Gyeonggi’s governor and the younger is Kim Jongin. Words flew around, the young Kim brothers—Myungsoo and Jongin, the same aged cousins—are in training to continue the family’s legacy. They said Mr. Prime Minister preparing Kim Myungsoo to be the future of South Korea’s President while Mr. Vice President preparing Kim Jongin to
