Chapter - Three (1/1)
— I R E N E —
I stayed late at school again. As usual, there's a few people left here. I had cheerleading practice. I swear my packed schedule would be the death of me someday. Still, I need to keep up with my persona. I'm currently heading to the cafeteria to buy some drink at the vending machine. When I got there, I noticed a figure standing infront of the vending machine. I walked slowly towards the figure and I saw the familliar braded hair. Kang Seulgi. I stopped walking mid-way, thinking whether to approach her or just forget about the drink to avoid having a conversation with her. I sighed, this is probably my chance. “Hey there,” I calmly approached when I was already beside her. “Fancy seeing you here.” Kang Seulgi looked at me, surprised at my sudden arrival. “O-Oh, hello Irene-ssi.” “Please just call me Irene.” “Right, I-Irene.” We stood there, avoiding each other's gaze. “A-Anyway, why are you here?” She asked, attempting to break the awkward silence. I pointed at the vending machine as my response. “Oh, s-sorry.” She stuttered, stepping back to give me access to the machine. I said a quiet 'thanks' and smiled at her. “So, why are you still here?” I asked as soon as I grabbed my drink. “W-Well, I'm waiting for Seungwan.” “Seungwan?” “I mean, Wendy.” She answered and I looked at her for a good few seconds then nodded. “I see...” I looked at my drink, opened the cap then sipped. “How are you friends with Wendy-ssi?” “Erm, I knew her since elementary. I changed schools, causing us to be apart from each other. But then I transferred here and I saw her again.” “You're a transfer student?” “Y-Yeah...” We fell back into a silence. This time, it's less awkward. I felt happy inside, knowing that I get to have a conversation with Seulgi. Just then, a voice interrupted the silence. “Seulgi, hey! Sorry, I had to do a few more things back there.” The both of us turned around to meet the newly arrived person. Turns out, it's Wendy. The girl noticed my presence then suddenly bowed. “Hello Ms. President,” She greeted then I smiled and nodded as a response. She looked at Seulgi once again. “Hey, sorry for making you wait this long again.” “It's fine, really.” Seulgi smiled and patted Wendy's shoulder. “Uh, are you guys having a conversation? I'm sorry for interrupting.” The both of us shooked our head, “It's fine, we just had a light conversation.” I assured the Music Club President. “Is that so?” I nodded and she smiled again. “Anyway, we need to go now, Ms. President.” “Sure, go ahead. I was about to leave too anyway.”
