two~ (1/1)
Phase 1 of Jongdae's plan required the seducing of Joonmyun. And seeing as he only met him an hour ago, it was going to be difficult to figure out how to do that...The savoury dishes had been cleared half an hour previously, only to get replaced with plates of desert pies and finger sized cakes. Jongdae had immediately dug into the nearest pie (some kind of red fruit with 90% pastry, but still tasty) and attempted to think of the best way to seduce the man on his right. One problem, Joonmyun was always surrounded by people asking him questions or paying him compliments. Even when Yifan had directed everyone to go back into the first hall for a few more speeches, Joonmyun seemed to have a constant group of people chatting away at him or patting his arm a little to hardly. So Jongdae spent most of his time tagging along side Yixing, who didn't seem to mind in the slightest (frankly, he looked slightly out of it every time Jongdae glanced at the other man...)After a few minutes of occasionally stopping Yixing from dropping his glass of champagne when he drifted off to only god knows where, Jongdae decided to try and wiggle his way into the group around Joonmyun. This was most definitely easier said than done.Every time Jongdae tried to sneak past someone to get closer to Joonmyun, everyone one around that person would eye him evilly before making their shoulders as big as possible as if to prevent him from going past.He tried again, only to get distracted as he heard a smash from behind him. Yixing, who he'd left standing alone with his vacant expression, had dropped his glass and was now hurriedly trying to clear it up with a dazed look on his face. This gave him an idea.Glancing round at the people around Joonmyun (who had stayed exactly where they were instead of going to help Yixing who was still struggling on the floor with a few waiters with dust pan and brushes) and attempt to pretend he was too focused on what Joonmyun was saying (some politics thing Jongdae would definitely not want to actually listen to). He brought his hand with his glass of wine (he was now regretting his choice for red wine seeing as there was a potential for it to fall all over his white shirt) down slightly as if deeply engrossed with the speech. He slipped the glass down until only his finger tips were holding it before letting it go 'accidentally'. The glass fell to the ground with a smash (the glasses were very easily broken) and the wine sloshed all over his and a few other peoples shoes. The crowd parted slightly, as Jongdae knelt down to clear up the mess. A few people called the waiters who had been helping Yixing over to help with the glass, whilst others knelt beside him to gently pick up the bigger bits of glass. "What is it with you and breaking glasses?" A voice asked. Jongdae looked up and saw Joonmyun smiling down at him.He smiled sheepishly and shrugged, "It's a skill" Joonmyun and the people around laughed at that. He held out his hand to help Jongdae up from his kneeling (even though Jongdae was more than capable to get up by himself) which he accepted.Joonmyun pulled him up as the waiters around them cleared up the last of the glass. They stared at each other for a split second longer than could be called normal. Jongdae noticed the nervousness in Joonmyun's eyes, and the confusion behind the reassuring smile. His own eyes probably conveyed all of his own mixed emotions, fear being the most prominent one. "Joonmyun" A voice said from beside them, breaking their eye contact (much to Jongdae's dismay and relief). "I wondered if you could explain the topic of...."And at the mention of politics, Jongdae tuned off as Joonmyun turned to talk to the man (and the new group who had formed around them). Sighing slightly, Joonmyun eyed the room and noticed Yixing was now talking to an elderly woman who kept gripping his arm too much for too long. But he didn't seem to mind and continued to smile cheerfully at her. Jongdae envied Yixings airiness, how he was able to hide behind a wall of dreams and even if he was breaking on the inside he could look like the happiest man on earth on the outside.Half of him was hoping that he could get the best paid job out there so he could buy whatever he wanted and not have to worry about scrimping and saving ever again. The other half dreaded having to pay off his university debts, not to mention the other debts he'd accumulated over the years. Overall, the cause of Jongdae's distress on a daily basis was money. Not to mention any one who was stinking rich was either old, perverted or already married.Jongdae had met a woman a year ago who'd said she'd help him with his finances if he'd marry her.She was beautiful, smart and one of the kindest people Jongdae had ever met.But he didn't want to marry her. He didn't love her...She, being the complete angel that she was, told him she totally understood. But Jongdae wasn't stupid enough to miss the crestfallen look on her face. Now, every time he had to decide between buying actually food (i.e. things that weren't ready made ramyun) and paying his electricity bill, he told himself how he should have accepted her there and then and learnt to love her.Because he could've.But instead here he was, attempting to seduce the heir to one of the most successful companies in the world. He knew there wasn't much chance of getting rejected because of Joonmyun not being gay, because if there was a raging homosexual in the room it was him (and also maybe that guy who had sat in front of him and kept 'accidentally' rubbing his foot against his leg). The thing Jongdae was scared of was that he'd end up hurting Joonmyun... Or, actually falling in love with the man...Jongdae shook the thoughts from his head and told himself there was no chance of that happening ever!So deep in thought; he hadn't noticed the group now all staring at him, including Joonmyun. They were looking so expectantly at him, as if they wanted him to start dancing for them."Umm... sorry... Totally blanked out there, what were you saying?" He asked awkwardly."I asked if you could sing for us..." Joonmyun said weakly, blushing a furious red colour. "I mean, you don't have to obviously, I.. I mean, we would just really love to hear your voice..." Jongdae weighed out his options.A) If he didn't sing for Joonmyun and probably the whole room, he'd risk losing a perfect opportunity to get noticed by some music-man. Not to mention the look of sadness on Joonmyun would probably turn into disappointment and Jongdae wasn't sure he could take that.B) On the other hand, if he did sing there was a chance his voice would decide to fail him and he'd sound like a dying whale. And then there was song choices (did he even know any lyrics of any songs?? he couldn't think...).At that point embarrassment would be the least of his worries..."Yes." He blurted out, much to his and everyone else's surprise."Yes?" Joonmyun asked."I'll do it... Sing..." Jongdae confirmed his fate with a gulp and nod of his head. Already it was begininng to pay off with the sight of Joonmyuns beaming smile."I'll let everyone know that you'll be doing it at the end, is that okay?" Joonmyun asked.Jongdae simple nodded and hoped to god all of this was going to be worth the home made meal he was going to make or restaurant he could finally go to at the end of this.A few moments later (which felt like a hundred years for Jongdae) Joonmyun started his speech. He was talking about changes in the company, which could effect any number of the workers. The rest of the speech was a bit of a blur for Jongdae, as he desperately tried to think of a song he knew and could sing...His brain, however, was fixed on this one sing he wrote in secondary school. There was nothing wrong with the song, per se, only that it was just so cheesy...He tried to rack his brain for another, less embarrassing song. But it looked like his brain didn't want him to leave this place without blushing like a teenager. His hearing only tuned in when Joonmyun was telling the crowd that they were going to have some entertainment in the form of singing. It was then when Jongdae felt his eyes bore into his head expectantly.Jongdae slowly went towards the podium where Joonmyun was standing. "What song were you going to sing?" He whispered to Jongdae. "Umm... it's actually one of my own..."Joonmyun gave him an impressed smile before handing the microphone to him.Gulping, Jongdae stared at the device for a few seconds hoping it would some how disappear into the ground... Or, even better he disappeared somewhere into the ground! He glanced round at Joonmyun who looked almost as nervous as him (which made no sense what so ever)."Erm.. Hi..." He eventually muttered into the microphone, causing all whisperings from around the room to stop. "Well I.. umm.. haven't really prepared anything..." He looked over at Joonmyun one more time before going on."I'm going to sing one of my own songs." He said with confidence, looking out at the audience in front of him. There was a lot more people then he was used to singing to (i.e. himself or his 4 friends). His other problem was the fact there was no music. He suddenly had a great idea.He went up towards Joonmyun, almost dropping the mic in the process. "I'm going to need some of these people help" He muttered quietly, indicating to the people around Joonmyun. "Do you think they can keep a general beat and melody as I sing?"Joonmyun looked shocked but nodded anyway, relaying the information to the people around him. After giving the 6 people who hadn't ran away at the prospect of singing an idea of what he wanted them to do, he decided the best thing to do was just to go with it and hope for the best.He nodded to the first person, who started singing a low but gentle note. The next person was slightly higher, and it went like that until the final person who was hitting a good high note. Then they stopped, only to start again with the tune Jongdae had planned. His heart was now beating so fast he swore the whole room could hear it through the microphone. And then he started singing, letting the music take him to a place where he was no longer nervous. His voice fit perfectly with the backup singers around him, the harmonies forming waves around the whole room. Even the sheets hanging on the windows seem to shiver with their voices reverberating through the walls. The song ended with Jongdaes signature high note (well, that's what he said his signature would be if he ever got the chance to be a real musician). The whole room was silent for a split second before it erupted with applause. People seemed to pop up beside him to give him pats on his back. Joonmyun was one of the last to come up to see him, smiling the widest Jongdae thinks he's ever seen anyone smile."That was... amazing!" Joonmyun said almost breathlessly. "Thanks" Jongdae blushed slightly, bowing for the 10 thousandth time that night. "Seriously, I would never have expected that! It was breath taking, Jongdae!" Jongdae didn't know what to say he simple smiled at bowed again. It was official; Joonmyun was seriously adorable.Focus Jongdae! Seriously, he was acting like some teenage girl with her crush what was wrong with him!?Joonmyun was speaking again, though Jongdae was too caught up in his own thoughts to notice. "What do you think, Jongdae?" Jongdae's ears perked up at the sound of his name and glanced round at Joonmyun who was looking at him expectantly. He really should stop tuning out of conversations... "Umm..." He said, nervously scratching the back of his neck. "I-""Wasn't listening, I get it..." Joonmyun finished for him, with a slightly sad look in his eyes.Jongdae's heart dropped 10 foot into the ground. "I- I'm really sorry I'm not very good at listening! Tell me it al again I'll listen now!" He hurriedly said, grabbing Joonmyun's shoulders and shaking them slightly.Joonmyun simply laughed, shrugging Jongdae's hands off."It doesn't matter, I was just asking whether you ended up here because of the poll that was set up on the website?""Umm... no, actually... I got an email from someone in the company inviting me... I forget who the email was from..." Jongdae trailed off.Joonmyun didn't say anything, but simply gave Jongdae a slightly confused look."I'm glad you're here, though" Joonmyun's voice was quiet, almost as if he didn't want people to over hear, and he didn't look Jongdae in the eye. "Oh... umm yeah I'm sort of glad I came too" "Sort of?" Joonmyun gave him a hurt look. "Shouldn't it be 'I'm so so glad I got to meet the amazing and fantastic Kim Joonmyun I wish for this evening never to end because he is so perfect' or something along those lin-"Jongdae didn't know why he did it.He was in a room full of hundreds of people, not to mention Joonmyun was the manager of one of the most influential companies in business. Some where in his sub conscious, however, there was something telling him it would be a good idea to kiss Kim Joonmyun right there on the lips. And he couldn't for the life of him stop this urge...I suppose this meant the plan was kicking into action though?...right...? A/N~ thank you soo soo so much for the subscriptions :3 (in response to athathatha97 a poll is usually in politics like people choose between certain things... there also sometimes on websites like you vote for which rice grain you prefer from a bag (bad example sorry lol) so... yeah I was going for the 'minimal description of actual reason for him being there'... it was supposed to be a one shot but it's sort of multiplied lol :3 hope that helps a little)hope you like this chapter (it's slightly shorter (by like 400 words of something))and potential for smut nex chapter (unless i wimp out and delay it lol XD)thanks again~~
