Dance Trainer Kim Sejeong (1/1)
A/N: I told you there was gonna be more... Did you see the teaser for ep. 4? These two, I swear... Also what is there that Kim Sejeong cannot do? Sohye can feel Yoonjung boring holes into her head. She knows she’s being watched, and it’s not helping. She’s been trying, late night practices by herself, sometimes with Sejeong. After vocal training with the older girl, Sohye has been trying to stay away from Sejeong. Sohye knows she can’t rely on the older girl for everything, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting too.-After her third mistake the instructor makes them cut the music. Sohye sees Sejeong take a worrisome glance in her direction, but Sohye keeps her eyes locked on Yoonjung; Sejeong can’t protect her forever.“What is this?” Yoonjung asks, looking at Sejeong. “What are you doing?”Sohye feels guilty. It’s her fault they had to stop, but Sejeong is the one being scolded.“Did you guys not practice at all?”The whole group is silent as Yoonjung continues to berate them, and Sohye can’t seem to take her eyes off the floor anymore.“Sohye.” Yoonjung addresses her coldy. “Do you even want to be a singer?”Sohye is taken aback by the dance instructor’s words because she isn’t exactly sure how to answer them. She’s never thought about being a singer before. She became a trainee to become an actress; she isn’t even supposed to be here. Sohye looks hesitantly at Sejeong, how can she have nothing to say when her answer is standing two feet in front of her.“Yes.” Sohye answers nervously.“You need to work harder then.” Yoonjung states, and Sohye can only mutter out another ‘Yes’ in response.-Sohye feels sorry, especially to Sejeong. The older girl picked Sohye for her team but Sohye just can’t seem to keep up. Sohye doesn’t know why Sejeong is so patient with her, why Sejeong spends all of her time on her. Sometimes Sohye wants to ask her, but she’s afraid of what Sejeong will say.“I just needed another team member.”“You need to do well so that I can do well.”Words like these have been floating through Sohye’s mind since the day Sejeong picked her, but she’ll never ask the older girl why. She just can’t bring herself to do so.-Sejeong is at it again, walking Sohye step by step through the dance, but she just can’t seem to get it right.“It’s fine.” Sejeong assures her.Sohye messes up again.“It’s fine.”It’s late and Sohye is tired but Sejeong continues to coach her. Sohye tries, she tries really hard to remember the moves but her body won’t cooperate and she’s getting frustrated. She just wants to go to sleep and try again tomorrow, but Sejeong is determined and Sohye has discovered that she cannot say no to her.“It’s fine.”Sejeong is starting to sound like a broken record, her tone laced with the same concern she had this morning when they started, and Sohye can’t take it anymore.“It’s not fine!” She shouts, startling Sejeong.Sohye sinks to the floor, bringing her knees to her chest.“I’m not good at this like you are. I can’t do it.”Sejeong sits down in front of her, placing her hand on Sohye’s knee like she’d done during vocal training.“You can do it. You just need a little more practice. You’re almost there.” Sejeong smiles.Sohye wants to cry. Why is Sejeong so nice to her? She doesn’t feel like she deserves it. All she’s done since joining the group is slow everyone down.“Why?” Sohye asks.Sejeong raises a brow in confusion.“Why are you so nice to me?”Sejeong’s eyes widen just slightly, and if Sohye hadn’t been watching her so closely, she’s sure she would’ve missed it. Sejeong is surprised.“I… I don’t know.” Sejeong mutters. “I just… I like you.”Sohye waits for the older girl to continue, to explain herself further, but nothing happens. Sejeong just sits there silently, eyes glued to the floor, and Sohye realizes that the older girl is embarrassed. She’s never seen Sejeong embarrassed before, but Sohye finds it cute.Sejeong clears her throat before jumping back to her feet. “Now come on. Just a little longer and then I promise we can go to sleep.”Sohye groans but does what she’s told. Sejeong is smiling at her brightly like usual, but there’s something different about the way she’s looking at her. Is Sejeong blushing?-Sohye is nervous, very nervous. They’re back in the practice room and so is Yoonjung. Sohye really doesn’t want to be scolded again. Not after all the time she’s spent practicing. She doesn’t want to let her team down, but more importantly she doesn’t want to let Sejeong down.“You can do it.” Sejeong mouths to her before they begin, and Sohye believes her.She can feel Yoonjung’s eyes on her again but this time she doesn’t let them bother her. She dances with all of her might. At least no one can say she never tried right? The song ends but Sohye holds her pose, along with her breath, waiting for Yoonjung to say something, anything.“Wow, what do I do?” Yoonjung says.It doesn’t seem to be directed at anyone in particular, but rather herself. The girls relax, turning to stand in a line to await the dance instructors comment, and Sohye doesn’t notice Sejeong is next to her until she feels the older girls hands on her.“You did well.” She says, still trying to catch her breath.“Yah, you really practiced hard.” Yoonjung says softly, a few tears running down her cheeks.Sohye is so touched by her words that she too begins to cry. She sees Sejeong smiling at her and that only makes her cry harder. Sohye takes a step towards the back wall; she doesn’t want the cameras to see her like this. Sejeong moves with her, and part of Sohye wishes she didn’t. Sejeong is making it really hard for Sohye to convince herself that she doesn’t feel anything for her. When Sejeong pulls her into a tight hug, Sohye thinks her heart may have stopped beating. The older girl shouldn’t have this kind of effect on her, but she does.“You were great.” Sejeong whispers, lips brushing Sohye’s ear when one of the other girls decides to make it a group hug.Sejeong pulls back first, tears threatening to fall as she continues to pat Sohye on the arm.“Sohye you must have practiced really hard.” Yoonjung praises, wiping her tears.Sohye turns to Sejeong, her unending thanks getting caught in her throat. Sejeong nods, a soft smile tugging at her lips. Sohye doesn’t have to audibly thank Sejeong, the older girl knows.“Did you stay up all night?” Yoonjung asks.“Yes.” Sejeong answers. “Sohye practiced really hard.”Sohye wants to say that Sejeong is the reason she’s gotten so much better, but with the older girls arm around her waist her brain is having a hard time functioning.“Lets clap for her.” Yoonjung grins.Sohye’s never had anyone applaud her before. She decides she likes it, and that she’d like to hear it again, hopefully with Sejeong there too.
