Oppa (1/1)
Narae glances at her watch and sighs, a small white cloud billowing from her mouth. Baekhyun’s running late. Narae raises her gray scarf to her nose to protect it from the icy breeze and rocks back and forth on her heels, trying to warm herself. Narae’s going to kill Baekhyun when she sees him—he promised he wouldn’t be late. As she’s getting ready to yell at him, Baekhyun rounds the corner and pops up in front of her, a sheepish smile on his face.“Baekhyun!” she starts.“Wait! The buses were late!”“That’s what you always say!” Narae scolds.“But it’s the truth,” Baekhyun says, “besides, I was only five minutes late!” He looks at her pleadingly, his eyes widening considerably. It’s unfair to do that, Narae thinks, because he knows that she’d give in.“Fine,” she huffs. Narae tucks her scarf under her chin so she can talk more clearly. The wind assaults her face immediately but she resists and opts to warm her neck instead. Narae slips her arm in the crook of Baekhyun’s arm.“Where to?” Baekhyun asks.“I thought you said you were taking me out today!” Narae says indignantly, ready to unhook herself from him.“I was just joking!” Baekhyun says quickly, locking her arm in place. Narae pulls a face and Baekhyun laughs softly.“That was so unladylike,” he says, smiling.“You’re unladylike!” she retorts automatically.“I’m not supposed to be ladylike.” Narae pauses, thinking.“…Shut up,” she mumbles. Baekhyun laughs again and pulls her forward gently. “Come on, let’s go.”*“The park?” Narae says looking around, “but there’s no one here!”“That’s better,” Baekhyun says, “that means we can kiss all we want!” Narae flushes a bright red and shoves him lightly.“That’s not funny!”“It is too!”“It is not!”“Yes!”“No!”“No!”“Yes!”“See, even you admitted it,” Baekhyun says snidely, chortling at the contorted expression on her face.“Hey! That was not cool,” she says pointing a finger at him. He leans forward and pecks her on the forehead, a smile on his face when he sees the tell tale blush on her face. Using the opportunity, he begins walking into the park, tugging her along. The trees and floor—practically everything in view—is blanketed with a gentle white. The trees’ branches sag slightly from the weight of the snow but nonetheless, it’s a beautiful sight. The springy green grass is coated with the powdery snow and Narae stops for a moment to poke a finger into the snow.“What are you doing?” Baekhyun asks, turning around to watch her.“Oh, I’m just poking at the snow. It’s really soft. Try it!” Baekhyun bends down and presses down on the snow, letting his finger sink into the cold mound.“It’s soft right?” Narae says excitedly, her cheeks red from the cold.“Not as soft as your skin,” Baekhyun says, turning to her. Narae jumps up quickly, pulling her scarf up to her nose quickly. Baekhyun chuckles softly and takes her hand in his.“Wow your hands are really cold,” Baekhyun says, wrinkling his eyebrows, “didn’t you bring your mittens?”“I forgot,” Narae says, pulling her scarf back down. She smiles sheepishly and Baekhyun tuts, despite the grin on his face.“Here.” He pulls off his left hand mitten and fits it on to her smaller hands. “Better?”“Yeah! What about your hand though? I don’t want you to be cold because of me.” Baekhyun wraps his hand around Narae’s and puts it in his pocket.“How’s that?” Narae beams up at Baekhyun in response and he kisses her on the cheek.“Let’s go to the lake.”Narae follows along, trying to suppress the pink that dusts her cheeks. She tucks a strand of wine colored hair behind her ear and leans closer toward Baekhyun. She listens to the soft crunching of snow beneath her boots, and she listens to the wind weaving in between the bare branches and between each strand of her hair. The world around her is nothing but white and silence surrounds them like a cloud. It’s almost as if the world is holding its breath, waiting for something—anything to happen. But nothing happens.Narae likes it like that—plain and simple. She likes taking walks, where she can sort out her thoughts and sort out her feelings. She likes listening to the things around her, and she likes the fresh air that fills her lungs. Baekhyun squeezes her hand gently, breaking her out of her silent reverie.“It’s beautiful, right?” Narae takes in her surroundings, and her breath catches in her throat. The lake is frozen solid, and a thin blanket of snow covers it. Through the layers, Narae can see the air bubbles trapped in time, as if they are waiting to escape, even at the very moment.“Yeah,” she finally manages after a while. Baekhyun lets Narae lean her head on his shoulder, and he slips an arm around her waist. They stand in silence, taking in the beauty of nature, and the beauty of silence.“Narae?”“Yeah?”“Call me oppa.”“No.”And just like that, they’re back.“Why not?” Baekhyun whines, a pout crossing his face.“Because.”“Please? I AM older than you!”“No,” Narae says firmly shaking her head. Baekhyun sighs and is about to say more when he feels her hands trembling.“Are you cold?” Baekhyun asks, frowning slightly. He squeezes her hand tightly.“Not really.” Her reddened nose tells another story.“Tell me the truth!”“I am!” she insists. She sniffles as discreetly as she can. Baekhyun smiles softly and leans forward, pecking her on the nose.“Let’s go get something warm to drink. You’re shivering.” Narae holds his hand tightly and follows along, embarrassed that she was caught so quickly. Narae adjusts her scarf, pulling it closer to her face.“Well I wasn’t cold before,” Narae mutters and Baekhyun tugs her closer to his side.“Body warmth!”“You’re so weird,” Narae says, despite the growing smile on her face.“You’re weirder, Narae.” Narae shuts up at the sound of her name and Baekhyun smirks—she was always weaker if Baekhyun actually used her name.“Look, there’s Café Droptop,” Baekhyun says, leading her toward the small, cozy building. It’s nearly empty, save for a few passerbyers who are taking a break to people watch. The building itself is perched at the end of the sidewalk, where the people start getting scarce. The two like it the best—they have all the time and space in the world there. They enter the homely café and Narae’s nostrils are invaded with the thick scent of freshly ground coffee and other aromatic spices that she can’t quite put a finger on. She shivers involuntarily at the abrupt change of temperature. They sit down at a small booth by the frost covered windows, sinking into the soft, cushioned seats.“What do you want?” Baekhyun asks.“I don’t know… I want to try Chai Tea Latte but Pumpkin Spice Latte is really calling out to me.”“Not your usual?”“Baekhyun, what season is it?”“Fall. Why?... Oh.”“The seasonal drinks!” Narae squeals and Baekhyun chuckles softly—his girlfriend is a caffeine addict and rarely goes a day without a coffee of some sort.“What should I get?”“Umm. I don’t know, get what you want!”“Yeah I know, but I’m indecisive.” A small sigh escapes her plump lips and she rests her head on the wooden table. Baekhyun threads a hand through her hair, figuring out what to do when a young boy with soft blonde hair appears in front of them.“What do you want today?” Luhan, their usual server, asks.“Narae’s indecisive. She wants to try Chai Tea Latte but she wants Pumpkin Spice Latte too.”“What do you want, Baekhyun?”“Me? I don’t really mind.”“How about you get Chai, and Narae gets the PSL?”“You’re a genius!” Narae says, her head shooting up. Her eyes twinkle brightly and Baekhyun chuckles softly.“Okay, that works too.”Luhan nods and walks away into the kitchen, where Baekhyun can vaguely hear him telling Sehun, who’s supposedly not his boyfriend, what they ordered.“Wow, it’s so warm in here,” Narae comments as she sheds her thick, olive jacket and places it next to her. Baekhyun follows suit and nods. She places her head back onto the table and Baekhyun continues sifting his hand through her shoulder length hair, marveling at its softness despite the numerous dyes it had undergone. She closes her eyes, enjoying the rhythmic movement of his slender fingers across her scalp. Narae’s about to fall asleep when she feels something on her lips. She sits up quickly in alarm, a small pout on her face when she catches the twinkle in Baekyun’s eye.“You suck,” she says, crossing her arms childishly.“You liked it though.”“No I didn’t!”“Yes you did!”“No!”“Fine then. I won’t give you kisses anymore.” Narae pales and she quickly grabs Baekhyun’s fit arms.“W-wait! I didn’t mean that.”“Thought so,” Baekhyun says, “come here. Oppa’ll give you a kiss.”“N-no!” Narae says, refusing vehemently, “we’re in public! Besides, I’m never gonna call you oppa!”Baekhyun pouts but she shakes her head resolutely anyway.“PSL,” Luhan says, materializing in front of them and placing a steaming hot mug in front of Narae, “and Chai.” He sets down the other mug in front of Baekhyun and he smiles brightly. “It’s on the house!”“Really? You’re the best!” Narae says, jumping up to give Luhan a hug. “Tell Sehun I said thanks and send him my regards!”“I can hear you!” a voice calls from the kitchen and Narae giggles.“Wait, I’ll be right back!” she bounds away toward the kitchen, grabbing the eyes of the few customers that are seated by the windows.“She’s so cute,” Baekhyun says as he watches her retreating back.“She is,” Luhan agrees, tucking the tray underneath his arm.“Hey!” Baekhyun says quickly, “my girlfriend!”“I know, I know. Besides, I have Sehun.”“What?”“W-what? Wait! I-I have to go!” Luhan says quickly, running behind the counter. Baekhyun smiles at the horribly hidden pink that dusts his pale cheeks. Baekhyun thinks Luhan might as well just admit it.Narae comes out a few moments later, a bright smile on her face.“Sehun says hi!” Narae says as she sits down in front of Baekhyun.“Well, hello to him too,” Baekhyun says. Narae giggles and grips the mug in her hands firmly, the heat from the cup warming her icy fingers.Narae lifts the cup to her face and takes a small sip, a satisfied sigh escaping her lips. Sehun’s latte’s are the best—he makes the best blend and knows exactly how much to put of each. The taste of pumpkin is peppered in a spice that lingers in her mouth for a while. Baekhyun smiles at the sight—steam is surrounding her round face, and her almond shaped eyes are no more than crescents now, because of the latte.“Hey you have foam on your mouth,” Baekhyun points out.“Oh, really?” She reaches up to wipe it off when Baekhyun grabs her hand.“I got it,” he whispers huskily, leaning forward and capturing her lips in a soft kiss. He swipes the cream off her upper lip and Narae sighs into the kiss—it tastes like Chai AND Pumpkin Spice.“Do you like it?” Baekhyun asks softly, as he curls a strand of hair around his finger.“Yeah, it’s the best! Sehun’s the best at this,” she says enthusiastically. Baekhyun smiles gently and pushes a strand of hair back behind her ear.“That’s good.”They finish their drinks over quiet, mindless chatter and they thank the couple before leaving the store. It’s dark already, and the streetlamps are lit brightly.“It’s colder than before,” Narae says, pulling the jacket tighter around her slim figure.“Yeah. The sun’s already set. Let’s go back.” He pulls her along into their apartment, which is only a few blocks from the café. Snow is drifting down lazily from the sky and Narae pokes out a tongue to catch a few.“They melt too quickly,” Narae complains.“That’s because you’re too warm,” Baekhyun says, “and I’m glad you are.”Narae smiles and leans up, pecking him on the cheek.“You’re the best, Baek.” Baekhyun, in turn, leans forward and brushes the tip of his nose on hers.“An Eskimo kiss for cold weather,” he says, before they enter Baekhyun’s small house. Narae shakes the snow off and slips off her shoes.“I call first shower!”*“Baekhyun?” Narae says softly as she leans against Baekhyun’s lean chest.“Hmm?” He cards his fingers through her hair and she snuggles closer to him.“Nothing.”Baekhyun smiles and kisses her forehead softly, continuing to gently pass his fingers through her hair. After a while, he feels her head shift slightly and he knows she’s asleep. He picks her up carefully, an arm behind her shoulders and another arm underneath her knees. Baekhyun carries her to her bed carefully and tucks her underneath the baby blue covers. He turns, ready to leave when he feels a hand tugging at his sleeve.“Oppa, don’t leave me,” she mumbles softly. Baekhyun smiles—Narae always calls him oppa in her sleep but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.“Okay.” He slips underneath the covers and encircles her waist and pulling her closer to him. She buries her face into the crook of his neck.“Oppa?” she says again, her words slurred from sleep.“Hmm?”“I love you.”“I love you too, Narae.”She hums contentedly and her breathing evens out. Baekhyun inhales deeply, enjoying her sweet scent before he, too, drifts off into a comfortable slumber. *Are you happyyou better bei made this super fluffy
