Early Mornings (1/1)
Chen arrived at his office, it was exactly 5:10 AM; the same time he arrived at work every day. Many of his employees were already there, and he expected one in particular, his secretary. His secretary always bought his favorite coffee, from his favorite stand that was in central park. Chen had just stepped inside his office when suddenly someone yelled “Good morning boss!” and heavy, running footsteps followed. Chen turned just enough to see a large, over grown idiot running down the hall at almost full speed towards his office. Chen sidestepped the crazy giant just in time to not be run over. Chen watched the man jump into his chair and spin around a couple times with a goofy grin on his face before turning to the owner of the office. “Yeol get your ass out of my chair before I go over there and rip every hair out of your head!” Chen closed the door to his office as Chanyeol stood up only to perch himself on the edge of Chens’ desk, looking at the older man. “Well I can tell someone is having a great day.” Chanyeol said sarcastically. “Shut up.” Chen set his briefcase down beside the chair and threw his coat on the hanger before flopping into his chair, running a hand through his hair. He was having a bad day and it was only 5:20 AM. First, his mother had called, explaining that his grandmother had fallen ill so he wouldn’t be able to visit her. Then his girlfriend dumped him before telling him she was running away to Hawaii because she liked someone else; then the cab driver had been an ass and almost ran him over with the car, and on top of that someone had thrown up in the bus on the way here… it had been everywhere and made Chen feel sick. He was just about done with today and thought about just going home. But then he always thought back to that steaming cup of coffee. The same coffee his secretary always brought him. It always brightened his day for some reason but he was glad that at least he got something that would raise his usually somber mood. And not only was the coffee left on his desk, in the same spot as always but there was always the pink sticky note that said “have a good day” with a heart. He picked up the coffee cup, smiling as he read the same words a thousand times before he took a drink. He didn’t know who his secretary was per say, but whatever magic she seemed to work for happiness worked on him and he thanked her for it dearly. “Let me guess, secretary.” Chanyeol gave a sly smile and motioned towards the cup in Chens’ hand. Chen tried his hardest not to glare at Chenyeol for ruining his little moment in his caffeine induced heaven. “Yeah. What about it?” he took another sip. “Don’t you think that maybe you should ask your secretary on a date or something, since obviously she has a thing for you, and you seem to like her a little too, although…. You have never really even made eye contact.” Chanyeol pointed out the obvious. “I was thinking about it, but I don’t know.” Chen tapped his chin and set down his coffee. “Most secretaries are usually married and have kids; so I don’t think it would work out.” Chen always seemed to think up a situation where the positive WOULDN’T work out for him. Chen sighed, trying his best not to run a hand through his carefully styled hair. Chanyeol slid off Chens’ desk, grabbing the chair other the other side and flipping it around so that his arms crossed on the back of the chair as he sat down. “I’m pretty sure this one is single, and definitely no kids.” Chanyeol gave a sly smile that made Chen feel like Chanyeol wasn’t telling him something important. “Trust me,” Chanyeol stood up, putting the chair back before he walked over to the door. “I’m pretty sure that your secretary would be one big ball of surprises if you just got to know more about the person.” Chanyeol smiled. “You sure?” Chan asked. Not sure if he really wanted to ask his secretary on a date, for fear of being horrible rejected. “Mm Hm.” Chanyeol nodded, slipping his hands into his pockets. “Okay.” Chen stood up. “I’ll ask her later on when I have my break.” Not that he admitted it to himself he felt some sort of accomplishment. His small inner victory was short lived when suddenly there was a bang. He and Chanyeol looked over just in time to see a bright red haired man with a black bag slung over his shoulder scurrying down the hall towards the elevator. That was weird. Chen didn’t even remember that guy working here. ‘Oh well.’ Chen shook it off. “I’ll ask her later then.” Chanyeol turned around with a sly smile. “Yeah, you do that.” Chanyeol turned back around and walked out of the office. Chen let out a breath and sat back down in his chair. ‘What the hell was that smile for? Does he know something I don’t?’ Chen smiled as he picked up his coffee, sticking the pink sticky note in the desk drawer with all the others; he had quite a collection now. He sat back and took a drink. ‘for now I have you, but just wait, the secretary will soon be mine too.’ This day was going to end way better then it began. *~*~* Well we can assume that Chanyeol knows something about Chens' secretary ^^ now just wait to see if Chen gets what he wants, or if the whole thing blows up in his face.
