Plain (1/1)

Taeyeon stood straight when she saw Tiffany walking towards her. “How was the exam?” Asked Taeyeon as soon as Tiffany was within earshot. “Not that bad, I think… I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about it.”  Taeyeon smiled then reached out her hand for Tiffany to hold. The latter gladly accepted it. “Lunch?” “That would be nice.” ----- “You wanna talk about it now?”  “Kinda.” Tiffany wiped her mouth with a tissue. Her mood had improved after her stomach was full. “Theoretically speaking, I think I can make it. I mean the questions… they’re not that bad but I know that this is not the only thing that the attending consider, right?” Taeyeon nodded. “They consider a lot of things but as I’ve said it before, they like you. You shouldn’t worry too much.” “Okay.” “Have you ever thought of other specialty, though?” “Not really. I like surgery. I like the rush, the adrenaline, trauma. Probably because I’ve lived with it, the trauma I mean. Not the same type of trauma but, you know…” There was a playful smile plastered on Tiffany’s lips. “Are you… joking right now?” Taeyeon asked carefully.  Tiffany blinked. “You don’t get it?” “Ah-ha,” Taeyeon chuckled a little. “I just didn’t want to offend you or something. People don’t really take things like this lightly.” Taeyeon was right. She used to resent her life. How it seemed so unfair. However, she’s an adult now. She shouldn’t be bothered by her past. So what if she didn’t have a family – like a real family with her flesh and blood parents or siblings? She got friends now, adding Taeyeon to that. At least she didn’t feel lonely.  Speaking about Taeyeon. She had not decided what to do with the feeling she had for this woman. Taeyeon was fun, caring, although she could be an ass sometimes but overall, she was great. The older woman had been clear regarding her intention and feelings towards her. But every time Taeyeon said something like ‘I like you’, she couldn’t say it back. Taeyeon understood, though. Taeyeon never pressed or bombarded her with questions. She just smiled and squeezed her hand. Tiffany wished she could say it back, but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t. “I’m going back to work tomorrow.” Taeyeon spoke after a pause. “As a plastic surgeon.” “Yeah.” Taeyeon blushed bashfully. “You better watch your back.” “Why?” “I’m going to train you so hard. You will probably regret that you choose surgery.” “You hear yourself, probably. I’m pretty sure I won’t.” Tiffany smiled sweetly. “I know what I want, Tae. I don’t care about anything else. I’m going to make it.” “Well, but you can’t disobey me and you will do whatever I order you to.” Taeyeon grinned smugly. Arrogance was written all over her face. Tiffany’s lips tugged a little upward as she drank the last drop of the water. She then stood up, took a few steps, put her hand on Taeyeon’s shoulder, bent down, tilted her head a bit then whispered, “I only take order from you in the bedroom, anywhere other than that, I’m a woman of my own.” Her lips barely touched Taeyeon’s earlobe. But that was enough to make Taeyeon shivered down to her spine. “I’ll see you tonight.” Tiffany walked out from the cafeteria without sparing a glance at her so Taeyeon was not able to see the smirk. The new attending patted her chest, trying to calm her heart. “You will be the death of me, Tiffany Hwang.” She shook her head slowly.   -----
