Part

~2/5~

"What if you woke up one day with no recollection whatsoever of whom Niel was?

m style="line-height:1.6;font-family:georgia;">Who would you blame?

m style="font-family:georgia;line-height:1.6;">Who should Im style="font-family:georgia;line-height:1.6;"> blame?"                       The question in itself was simple.

The answer, however, left Bang Minsoo puzzled.

No matter how hard his thoughts churned.

No matter how hard he fussed over it.

He never got around to finding an answer.

Instead.

Bang Minsoo found himself stuck at Polo.

Their cute goldfish.

Now.

Polo didn’t say much.

Honestly speaking.

The constant bubbles leaving his lips could have said otherwise.

Still.

Polo never asked Bang Minsoo puzzling questions.

Scratch that.

Polo never threw gibberish back at Bang Minsoo.

While sitting in the middle of a damn street.

All before hopping in a cab.

Alone.

Thus leaving Bang Minsoo’s ass stranded.

In the middle of the very damn same overcrowded street.

That was downright sure.

“Isn’t that right, Polo?”

Now.

Bang Minsoo’s voice had been more than dripping with love and affection for his fish.

“Bang Polo.”

However, that had all been thrown to the wind as the latter coldly rejected his master’s affections.

“Bang.”

Not that the latter let up as he rounded Polo’s tiny fish tank.

“Polo.”

No words could explain Bang Minsoo’s bright smile as he faced Polo once more.

Only for the latter to deflate as his fish made another quick escape.

“Young fish, I am talking to you.”

Much to Ahn Daniel’s amusement.

“Doesn’t little Polo want to play catch?”

Indeed.

Ahn Daniel couldn’t help but let out a light chuckle.

Never would he grow old of his Bang Minsoo turning into a softie all for the sake of their fish.

“You do know that without me, you’d be dead right?”

Especially as he slowly knelt down, the most endearing smile adorning his lips.

All before falling into a pout as Polo had once more preferred hiding in rocks rather than proving to his delusional master that playing catch would most definitely result in his death.

“Playing catch, hm?”

Still pouting, Bang Minsoo slightly cocked his head to the side.

“Polo’s always known that you’ve wanted a dog.”

Only to let out a small scoff as his eyes met Niel’s knowing smile.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Minsoo shot back as he slowly got to his feet.

“Do I really need to elaborate, Bang Minsoo?” Niel taunted from the kitchen. “You’re offending him.”

Right.

Goldfish were known to leap to their deaths.

On a daily basis.

However, a good year had passed since Bang Polo had swam into their lives.

The latter was therefore more than content with his master.

Or his daddy as Bang Minsoo would have most definitely put it.

That was if more than mere chuckles would escape his lips.

In his defense.

There was only so much he could have done as his eyes had focused on Niel’s slender frame.

Put more precisely, on his head losing itself to the confines of one of their kitchen’s many cupboards.

“Lean any further and you might just fall down the hole.” Minsoo lightly teased as he slowly made his way to the kitchen. “Alice.”

There were words for Ahn Daniel’s consequent gesture. There truly were.

Not that Bang Minsoo would decipher them.

After all, pouring himself a good cup of coffee was much better than analyzing his lover’s disturbingly long middle finger.

Now.

Had the gesture occurred in a different situation.

In a much more different setting.

Bang Minsoo might have cared.

Bang Minsoo would have most definitely cared.

However.

“Bang Minsoo.”

It seemed that his ass had already been more than clamped into this setting.

“Earth to Bang Minsoo.”

There was no better turn-off than a nagging handsome young man.

“Where’s the pan?”

Giving a cold shower more than a run for its money, Ahn Daniel’s words had all but subdued Bang Minsoo’s growing desire. So much so that the latter could hardly hide his disappointment as he lazily raised a finger in the air.

All before pointing it towards their bathroom.

Much to Ahn Daniel’s bewilderment.

“Why the hell is our pan in the bathroom?”

Bang Minsoo innocently blinking? Check.

“I needed something to fix your overly expensive shower.” He cooed as he reached for his cup of coffee.

“Says the one using the said shower twice a day.” Niel shot back just as easily as he hopped off of the kitchen counter.

“Honey.”

Bang Minsoo leaning back against their kitchen counter in all his beautiful glory? Double Check.

Indeed.

There was no denying the whisper of a smile adorning Ahn Daniel’s lips as he looked back at Bang Minsoo. Calmly leaning against the counter, his cup of coffee riding dangerously close to his lips. The heat most certainly scorching him.

However it paled in comparison to his gaze.

“You should follow my example before things get out of hand.”

Enticing as it slowly travelled up Niel’s frame.

“If you know what I mean.”

Insulting as Bang Minsoo teasingly made a face.

“Ouch!”

So much so that Niel could no nothing but snap out of his daze.

All in time to wipe that smirk off of his lover’s lips.

All thanks to a perfectly orchestrated strike to his chest.

“You only get what you deserve, Bang Minsoo.” Niel clucked his tongue as he stormed out of the kitchen.

Though Bang Minsoo’s bright laughter would most definitely beg to differ.

“We should start packing our bags, Polo.” Minsoo called as his chuckles slowly died down.

“The hell?” Niel called from the confines of their room.

Not that Bang Minsoo listened.

Instead, he turned back to their fish.

His cup of coffee back to his lips as he leaned forward.

“Polo.” He started in a serious tone. “Niel has turned violent.”

No words could have described how far back Niel had rolled his eyes as he walked back into the kitchen.

“He could flush us- I mean you- down the toilet one of these days.”

What on earth was this idiot of his going on about?

“I’m your life insurance.”

Right.

Rationally speaking.

Polo would never utter a word.

However, in those few seconds, Ahn Daniel could have sworn that he had heard a light scoff coming from the little goldfish. Or maybe was it his own as he passed behind his lover?

All before lightly hitting the back of his head.

Correction.

All before lightly hitting the back of his head with a pan.

“That’s my fish, you’re sweet talking, Bang Minsoo.”

Though his words had been stern, there was no denying Niel’s light chuckle as he took in Bang Minsoo’s slight pout.

So much so that he could only bite his lower lip as he looked down at their kitchen skin.

Only to let out yet another chuckle as Minsoo teasingly punched his arm.

“The term would be warning.”

The latter noted as he took a last swig of coffee.

“Sweet-talking in my book.”

All before ignoring Niel’s blatant complaints as he simply dropped his cup into the sink.

“Reassuring.”

“Sweet-talking.”

Only to move in ever so slowly.

“Advising.”

His eyes never leaving his lover’s lips.

“Sweet.”

Though the word itself had been lost in their kiss.

It had all remained the same.

Just as sweet.

“Talking.”

Just as brief.

“Then what should we call what I do to you?”

Truth be told.

The words themselves were innocent.

Yet.

There was something sinful behind Bang Minsoo’s smile.

Especially as Ahn Daniel all but shuddered in his arms.

All because of the feathery kisses Bang Minsoo’s lips had left on his skin.

All before stopping right in the crook of his neck.

Only to pull him closer.

Back into the comfort of his arms.

“Distracting me from our dinner.” Niel faintly whispered.

His hands shyly reaching up to the arms tightly wound around his waist.

His fingers slightly grazing the warm skin he found there.

All before gently patting it.

“You always burn it anyways.”

Only to smack it as Minsoo lightly chuckled against his neck.

“Go find yourself a boyfriend that can cook then.”

Ah.

A few seconds ago.

Bang Minsoo’s eyes had been shut.

He had been losing himself to it all.

The comfort of his own home.

The comfort of his little Polo.

The comfort of the man he loved.

All until that word had been uttered.

“Or can you not let go of me, Bang Minsoo?”

He could.

“Hm?”

So he did.

Simply brushing it off as Niel pushing him away.

Simply brushing it off as Niel walking out of his arms.

Yet.

It was him that had slightly reached forward once more.

It was him that had slightly hooked his pinkie through his.

It had all been him.

“You can’t can you?”

Even now it had all been him.

Gently kissing Niel’s forehead.

All the while keeping him in a tight embrace.

So much so that Niel could only let out a light giggle.

All before half-heartedly wriggling out of Minsoo’s hold.

Only to lightly peck him once more.

“No complaints over my food tonight, then.”

Boyfriend.

“Okay?”

A person’s regular male companion.

With whom they have a romantic or sexual relationship.

The irony, really.

Ahn Daniel had never been supposed to fit that equation.

Theirs had been supposed to be a casual relationship.

No strings attached.

Still.

Those suckers had been more than clamped down from the very moment they’d met.

To the moment they’d moved in together a whopping two years ago.

Still.

They had never mentioned it.

They had never named whatever this was.

However, technically speaking, who but Lee Byunghun was asking?

Rather, who but Lee Byunghun had been asking?

Ah.

“Minsoo?” Niel blinked as he turned away from his chopping board.

No words could even begin to define the sigh that Bang Minsoo had let out in that instant. So much so that he didn’t even bother explaining it to Niel as he silently dragged himself over to one of their stools.

Now.

Nobody was perfect.

Everybody knew that.

Still.

Lee Byunghun had always been the exception.

He had always been all that Bang Minsoo had aspired to be.

Not that he had let the latter in on that slight detail.

Still.

Lee Byunghun had always been the one to look Minsoo straight in the face.

Only to calmly call him out on his bullshit. All before finishing with the guiltiest of looks on his face. Thus making Bang Minsoo wonder why the hell he had even spoken in the first place if he would be the one crying in the end.

Still.

He was lovable that way.

He was Lee Byunghun.

Lee.

Fucking.

Byunghun.

The best friend that would have blankly asked him why he still hadn’t confessed to Niel.

The best friend that would have punched him for even thinking of letting Niel go for even if a second.

The best friend that would have sat down with him for as long as it took and simply let him vent about everything.

Only to smile and come up with a solution that would make every damned sense in the world.

That best friend.

Not whatever the hell had walked into Bang Minsoo’s life over two weeks ago.

Indeed, ever since that party, nothing had been right with Lee Byunghun.

Never mind the fact that Minsoo had been unable to reach him for hours on end.

Never mind the fact that he had appeared at his doorstep, barefoot and in tears.

Never mind all of that.

It all simply amounted to that smile.

That one smile.

Now.

Despite anything that Bang Minsoo said about it, there was no denying that Niel had invested in one hell of a shower.

It was impossible to step out of it, squeaky clean and warm, without the widest of grins and Lee Byunghun had been no exception. Indeed, that morning, Lee Byunghun’s smile could have very well been the brightest in the world.

However there had been something vile and terrifying about the rictus that his best friend had given him.
