Seungkwan third wheels th (1/1)

“You sure it’s okay?” “Yes Hansol, for the millionth time.” “I know he’s kind of rude, like all the time. And sometimes he likes to eat your food without asking. And comment on your bland fashion sense. And he doesn’t really shut up, ever.”“Neither do you.” she sighed dramatically, unlinking their fingers as they crossed the promenade. “And are you calling my clothes boring?” Immediately recovering, he seeked to grab her hands again. “You look beautiful in anything, baby girl.”“Lame, Vernonie.” Boo Seungkwan cut in, and quite physically, dropping his arm like a knife between the couple, effectively killing their contact. In the words of Joshua Hong, he was putting a gap between their relationship. It was originally supposed to be a date between him and his girlfriend. But at the last minute the schedules were revised and Seungkwan’s plans fell through. And Hell to the no if Boo Seungkwan was going to stay alone in the dorm while his best friend was out playing. Both parties insisted it was fine, but Hansol was still worried about his girlfriend being a third wheel. He and Seungkwan had a tendency to be uncontrollably gross and buddy-buddy when they were around each other. Conversely, he was worried about his best friend becoming a third wheel. The time that they had together was always limited, and while he didn’t hate having Seungkwan around, spending time with his girlfriend was precious. “What are we even doing today?” Seungkwan, asked, putting an arm around Hansol.“Well, I'm hungry.” his girlfriend gestured to a patbingsu hole-in-the-wall shop. “I'll get us something from there, I know the guy.”“Wait, how do you know the guy?” Hansol asked, peering forward to get a good look at the young man working alone. The guy was frustratingly too good-looking for his tastes, he noted. She shrugged, “He thinks I'm cute, and single.” “Then you shouldn't be going to him!” he argued, stepping forward, only to have Seungkwan reel him back in by the hood of his sweater. “But, free ice cream.” she said simply, her face monotonous as if it were the simplest thing in the world. “She has a point. No shame in free food.” Seungkwan said pointedly, waving her off. “I like strawberries.” Receiving the blessing, she skipped off to the small store. Hansol and Seungkwan were silent for a moment, watching her as the guy took her order. “You have a good girlfriend.” Seungkwan said after a beat, clapping him on the back. Hansol looked back at his friend, who was completely genuine. “I know.” was all he could say. “Which is why I'm stealing her for the day.” “Wait, what?” He didn't have a chance to properly address it when all of a sudden she came running back, clutching three shaved ice cups in her arms. She gave the first one to Seungkwan, who nodded approvingly at the abundance of strawberries arranged at the top. Hansol noticed the condensation from the ice staining her dress, which was off white and cut right in the middle of her thigh. He had no qualms about her clothing, she could wear whatever she wanted but—“Bingsu guy.” he suddenly said, biting his tongue. “He’s checking you out.” “So?” she said, not turning around to check. “Girls check you out all the time. For a living.” “Doesn’t mean I have to like it.” he grumbled. “Oh, stop. Hold this.” Rolling her eyes, she shoved the two cups, vanilla for him and matcha for her, in his arms. “And come here.” And she reached up with both hands, pulling his face down to meet her lips with his. They never, never kiss in public, ever. Not just because he couldn’t, but because he was awkward as hell in general, and he really couldn’t risk making a fool of himself more than necessary. But dear goodness she was giving him the kiss of his life, Bingsu guy was right there and it felt amazing. The only regret he had was that he was frozen stiff, clutching the two shaved ice cups for dear life as he attempted to convey all his feelings without holding her close.“Child.” she whispered against his lips, feeling her smile against his. And he’ll be damned, but she could call him whatever she wanted as long as they kissed like that. “And, that’s enough PDA for the year.” Seungkwan made a gagging noise, like a cat choking on a furball, and ripped the couple apart. Hansol didn’t even have a chance to recover before Seungkwan snatched the matcha ice and gave it to her, pulling her ahead all in one smooth motion. He looked on dumbly, watching them walk off on their own, hand in hand. He heard his best friend’s voice trill loudly, “What does he call you again? Baby girl? I’ll call you that, too.”

“Any other embarrassing stories I need to know about?” she laughed, pointing to a pretty violet hair clip on the top shelf. Seungkwan easily picked it off the rack, slipping it into her hair. “Well, there was that time he accidentally set the microwave on fire making ramen.” “Don’t tell me, he forgot to add the water.”“How did you know?” “Happens once a month.” Turns out, Seungkwan and his girlfriend had a lot in common. It wasn’t even just because they had a ton of dirty secrets about him that they could share, but they liked the same movies, the same coffee proportions, and even used the same brand of soap. He spent most of the day following them around, watching his two favorite people spend time together and get along surprisingly well. He didn’t even mind that he was being left behind, or that Seungkwan stole his girlfriend for the day, it was peaceful and surprisingly calm having the both of them around. He turned back to them, only to find his girlfriend gone and Seungkwan waiting in a corner. He noticed the dressing room was closed, and he was about to speak until Seungkwan put his fingers to his lips, silencing him.“Seungkwan,” she said, and at the same time, the white dress she wore today flew up over the changing door. “You’re a good best friend.”“I know, baby girl. I know.” he said, winking at Hansol. “No, but really.” she said, her voice echoing through the shut room. “Thank you for taking care of him for me. I know I can’t always be around when he needs someone, and I’m glad that I have you to depend on. I’m happy we hung out today.” “Me too.” Seungkwan replied honestly, giving a thumbs up to Hansol. His heart was about to burst even further when she stepped out of the dressing room, wearing an almost fantasy-like, tulle blush dress. The sweetheart bodice was cut like an X, accentuating her curves. She padded across the store in her bare feet, looking like a tiny forest fairy as she went over to the two of them. Seungkwan stuck his hand out for her, and she readily grabbed onto it, spinning in circles like an figurine in a snowglobe, the tulle flaring out prettily. “Oh, you look beautiful.” Hansol gushed, and reached for her other hand to kiss the bridge of her knuckles. “Thank you.” she blushed, “And you heard all of that, didn’t you?” “Every word.” Seungkwan said bluntly, letting go of her like she was a speck of dust. “Which is why we need to break up, like right now.” he gestured to the dress, and the hairpin holding her bangs back. “I hold no responsibility in paying for your stuff.” Glaring at him, she stuck her hands on her hips. “And who said I was letting anyone pay for my stuff, huh?” she huffed hotly, poking him in the chest. “I don’t need a boyfriend for that, I pay things with my own damn money!” Seungkwan laughed shamelessly to a proud-looking Hansol. “If you don’t marry this girl, I will.”
